DanceX has been snapped up by US TV bosses, and is to be renamed, Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.

The show will be hosted by 98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey, and judge from the UK show, Bruno Tonioli, will be up against Dancing With Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba as they try to find their dream dance team.

Tonight the public named Bruno’s group as the winners in a nail-biting DanceX final on BBC One, securing them a record deal and nationwide tour supporting chart-topping artist Rihanna.

Following seven weeks of gruelling performances, Claire, Marcquelle, Marie, Phoenix and Rana clinched it to become the DanceX champions.

Winning judge Bruno says: “I’m so delighted and happy for them. They deserved to win. They’ve got so much talent and potential.”

The winners say: “To win is amazing. For the first two weeks we thought that people had lost faith in us but now it’s turned around and we’re so grateful.”

Team Arlene started off the series strongly, winning the viewer vote for the first two weeks running.

However, Bruno’s group clawed their way back into the public’s affection and clinched the third and fourth live shows, leaving five members in each team for the final.

Tonight’s result leaves Ashley, Camilla, Chelsey, Daniel and Emanuel to go home empty-handed.

Oh her team’s defeat, Arlene says: “They’ve been fantastic. I will always believe in you. For me you are the winners.”

The series climaxed tonight with a number of live performances, including a song from Rihanna, the teams’ best of the series and the first outing of their new single.

Both groups had recorded the single, called Dancing In Repeat, but Team Arlene’s version is now destined for the cutting-room floor.

Bruno said of his team members:

On Claire – “From day one she was outsinging everyone.”

On Marcquelle – “Charisma runs through his blood.”

On Marie – “Marie’s self-belief has really kicked in now. I’ve seen the Marie I’ve always believed in.”

On Phoenix – “Phoenix is his worst critic, but talent-wise there is no question it’s there.”

On Rana – “Rana is the ultimate attention-grabbing diva.”

Reports suggest that DanceX judges, Arlene Philbrunlips and Bruno Tonioli are barely on speaking terms this week after intense rivallry throughout the BBC series.

“It really is like a war zone,” finalist Daniel Uppal told the Daily Star. “No-one wants to give away what we’re up to in case the others nick the idea.”

DanceX airs at 8.30pm on Saturday on BBC One.

The X Factor royally whooped the a** of BBC rival Dance X last night, as it pulled in around 9.5 million viewers.

DanceX managed to draw in only 2.7 million viewers in comparison, but it’s hardly a surprise. Not only has ITV invested A LOT in advertising and promoting the show (BBC could learn from ITV PR skills) but also the X Factor is the show of the year. My favourite time of year is back!

Tonight’s semi-final on BBC One saw the public vote force Arlene to pick one of her team to strut off the DanceX stage for the very last time.

Tonight’s disco-themed show saw Arlene choose between her group members for the second week in a row.

In the last show to see a single person eliminated, Arlene picked the two contestants she considered to be the weakest performers in her group to compete directly against each other for the chance to stay in the competition.

Arlene chose Ashley and Kalvin, who then had to sing and dance one more time. After their performances Arlene said: “This is so hard because neither of them deserve to go. But I’m pushed into this decision, so it’s going to be Kalvin.

Kalvin said after his eviction: “For me, entering this competition was to build my confidence and for my family. I’m just blessed to have made it this far.”

Next week, the two final groups will perform for the last time. Only one of them will be crowned the DanceX champions, winning a record contract and nationwide tour, supporting a best-selling artist.

Tonight on BBC One’s DanceX, Bruno’s team clawed their way back into the public’s affection and forced Arlene to pick one of her team to leave the competition.

The Las Vegas-themed show saw the viewer vote make Arlene pick one of her team to go home.

Arlene picked the two contestants she considered to be the weakest performers in her group to compete directly against each other for the chance to stay in the competition.

She chose Ife and Camilla, who then had to sing and dance one more time for her approval.

After their performances Arlene said: “I would never say she let me down but the person going home is Ife.”

Ife said after her eviction: “It has been amazing. I never thought I’d get through the first round!”

The remaining hopefuls go on to perform in their groups next week, to prove to the nation that they can be the best all-singing all-dancing group.

Arlene on her group’s dance: “They delivered. That was pure theatrical Viagra guys! Chelsey – you achieved an elegance I never thought you could. I was really surprised, thrilled and delighted.”

Arlene on her group’s song: “Not only was it better that last week but Ashley has never heard of George Gershwin, let alone how difficult it was to sing. Coming out singing and smiling, it was like a new person was revealed. I could never be more proud.”

Team Bruno

Bruno on his group’s dance, during which Marie slipped over: “I’m telling you that shows how far we’ve got because she recovered so well. These things happen in show business. Ok, she fell, but she carried on and made it work.”

Bruno on his group’s song: “They nailed it! Phoenix and Marcquelle! This is class, elegance, sophistication. The girls looked a million dollars. This is Vegas. You nailed it. I’m just so proud.”

Bruno on his group’s song and dance: “The boys come out so much tonight. They do look like a group. They do look like a band. Ok, there were a few bits where you were slightly off but, overall, this is the look for DanceX to me. This is it.”

Daniele said after his eviction: “Thank you so much. I’ve really enjoyed this experience – it’s not the end. I’ve had so much good publicity, it can’t be the end.”

He said in a message to his grandad: “I’m lost for words. I love you.”

The 12 remaining hopefuls go on to perform in their groups next week, to prove to the nation that they can be the best all-singing all-dancing group.

Having watched each team perform as a group for the first time, the voting public decided that, this evening, Arlene’s team was the best.

This left Bruno to pick the two contestants he considered to be the weakest performers in his group to compete directly against each other for the chance to stay in the competition.

He chose Becky and Daniele, who then had to sing and dance one more time for his approval.

After their performances Bruno said: “This is a nightmare because I have to think of the group as a whole. I’m going to save Daniele.”

Becky said after her eviction: “I’ve never sung in front of anyone before but now I feel like I can do it. It’s been so emotional.”

The 13 remaining hopefuls go on to perform in their groups next week, to prove to the nation that they can be the best all-singing all-dancing group.

BBC reality TV show, has won the Saturday night ratings battle as it trounced ITV’s Sing It Back in the ratings last Saturday.

DanceX pulled in 4.8 million viewers and peaked with nearly 6 million. Sing It Back Lyric Champion hosted by Radio1 DJs JK and Joel, pulled in a paltry 1.9 million, 1.3 million down on its debut.

Last night a BBC spokeswoman said: “We’re particularly pleased a third of all viewers saw Arlene’s battle with Bruno unfold.”

BBC reality TV show, DanceX will be remade by BBC Worldwide America.

The BBC arm is making the US version specifically for ABC, one of the largest TV networks in the States.

Bruno Tonioli, who stars in the UK version and also appeared on American, Dancing With stars, will take part in the American show. He will be joined by fellow Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

At least six episodes of DanceX have been commissioned to be shown next January.
