Dannii Minogue has claimed that tabloid journalists choose who to like and who to slate at the beginning of each X Factor series.

The Australian judge says she was ‘bruised’ by all the criticism she received during her first year on the ITV show and when asked why she became such a target for the press, Dannii told Heat:

“I don’t know.

“But there’s one prominent journalist who’s in an even more prominent position now and he came over to me one day and said, ‘We’re going to be nice to you this year’. I thought, ‘Oh, so that’s how it works’.”

The tables have turned and this year it’s been Cheryl Cole who has faced the tabloid’s wrath. On why Cheryl has had such a hard time Minogue added:

“It’s been a big year for her in all respects. I don’t know why she’s getting grief. I wonder if, like with me, there are people in the tabloids who decide this is not your year.”

Kylie Minogue has admitted that she is now bored of the continuing war of words, between her baby sister and Sharon Osbourne.

Dannii reignited the feud recently, when she described Mrs O as a bully in her new autobiography. The comments prompted Sharon’s daughter Kelly to launch a foul mouthed Twitter attack on the Australian star, during which she branded her ‘the devil.’

Talking about the furore, Kylie told The Sun:

“I feel protective. Dannii is my little sister and I always feel the urge to get involved. But I’m reluctant to get dragged into this fresh hoo-ha.

“It’s such a small part of our lives now. I think it’s basically become a pantomime. But it was very real at the time Sharon and Dannii were both on the show.

“We had the Osbournes and the Minogues kicking off. But I know Dannii wishes it would go away. Can we just get past this now? Come on! It’s a bit old and boring.”

Dannii Minogue hasn’t even given birth to her first child yet but she admitted that she is already thinking about having more.

The X Factor judge is due to give birth this month and on her plans for her future family she told InStyle:

‘I never saw myself as having kids, so now it’s happened I’m still in shock.’

‘But now I’m thinking, “Maybe I’ll want another one.”’

‘Heidi Klum’s on the red carpet pregnant, has a baby, then she gets pregnant again and has another baby. She manages to be a mother, run a few different companies and produce her own TV show.’

Minogue also added that pregnancy has made her much more relaxed. She said:

‘I don’t know what the pregnancy hormone is but I wish I could bottle it and have it forever.

‘I’m so calm and I just laugh at everything. I’m normally more wound up and controlling. The main difference in my life is Kris. He’s so loving and adoring. He’s very calm, very chilled out.’

Dannii also revealed that she is not yet sure whether she will be returning too judge on X Factor this year.

An X Factor source told The Mirror: “Louis went to great lengths buying presents for his fellow judges. When he knocked on Dannii’s dressing room door, she barely opened it, stuck her arm out, took the present and shut the door again. Louis was staggered.”

Maybe he should have been nicer to her throughout the show and she might have had a bit more time for him!

However, it all became clear when I read an article in the Sun claiming that Simon Cowell had threatened to cut power to the pairs microphones if they continued to bully Minogue.

A show source told the newspaper: “All week Sharon and Louis have been whispering about how to slip little comments in.”

The insider added: “They’ve been told their mics will be cut if they make a single comment about her pop career.”

Dannii Minogue has revealed that she has been very upset by the arguments and cattiness that have prevailed amongst the X Factor judges this year.

“It’s tough being the new girl,” Dannii told The Sun. “The hardest thing is, I really admire them. I’ve looked up to them for years and I wanted to be part of that gang. But when they’re slating you, you think, ‘Please don’t, I really like you.’

“I’ve certainly had to toughen up. I’ve had my ups and downs with Sharon and expected that. And Louis, who’s had a rough year after being kicked off the show then coming back, is thinking, ‘Who is this young chick? What does she know?’

“But to even go there with the arguments is giving power to them, so I ignore it. They may rubbish my experience and, OK, I’ve never had a No1 – but I came damn close with a No2 ['I Begin To Wonder' in 2003].

“I only got beaten by Christina Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful’, which is an incredible song. I can’t be bothered to retaliate, though. It’s catty, it’s almost become bullying to me, and I don’t want to entertain that.”

Rhydian Roberts has spoken out about the possibility of going head to head with his X afctor mentor in the album charts.

If the opera singer wins the show, he will be releasing an album next year, Dannii has also announced her intention to release an album in 2008.

Rhydian told the Daily Star:

“It would be weird going against her and pretty embarrassing if I finished above her!”

Considering how badly Dannii’s recent single is performing, I don’t think that Rhydian has much to worry about. It is weird though that she has had as much exposure as any of the X Factor contestants, yet while the winner of this show will most likely go on to at least one number one single and album, Dannii can’t even make it into the top 40.

Once Louis gets wind of the news that Dannii’s most recent single, ‘Touch Me Like That’ which was released this week has sold just 1500 copies and will most likely not make it into the top 40, he is bound to step up the campaign against the Aussie pop singer.

Let’s just hope that :

1) She’s hard enough to take the slagging

and

2) She learns her lesson and never again releases another piece of music to the masses.
