Former American idol finalist Danny Gokey has been waxing lyrical about his debut album ‘My Best Days,’ telling fans that it is an intensely personal piece of work. Claiming that his very DNA is weaved into the songs, Danny thinks that the record will help people connect with him ‘on a whole new level.’

Danny also claimed that he wants his fans to know that his life is in a happier place now and although he has faced tragedy (Danny’s wife passed away a month before his American Idol audition in 2008), he is ‘looking forward to life again.’

In an interview with Walmart Soundcheck Danny said:

On American idol my life became an open book, people saw the tragedy that I faced. One month before the auditions my wife passed away and it was the most devastating time of my life. But I want to tell people now, look at all the good that has come out of something so tragic and so bad. So when I came up with this song, I wanted to say I’m enjoying life again, what almost took me out didn’t take me out and I’m looking forward to life again.

Former finalist Danny Gokey returned to the American Idol stage last night. Coming back to the stage that launched his music career, Danny gave an amazing performance of his new single “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me” from his just released new debut album ‘My Best Days.’

Danny’s vocals were as strong as ever and we loved the whole leather jacket thing he had going on. Gokey told Ryan Seacrest that last year after one of his performances, country icon Randy Travis came up to him and asked, ‘Have you ever considered doing country?’ He said that his comment inspired him to release a country themed album.

Former American Idol finalist Danny Gokey will be making his big return on this week’s result show.

Danny made it to the final three contestants on last year’s season and has just released his debut album ‘My Best Days’ this week.

He will be performing his hit single “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me” on the American Idol results show which will air in the States this Thursday and in the UK on Friday night.

In other AI news, the boys and girls will be swapping nights this week, after Crystal Bowersox
was struck down with a mystery illness.

Listening to the three semi-finalists performance on Youtube I am not at all surprised that Kris got through. He performed Heartless by Kanye West, but he wiped the floor with Kanye’s own performance on the show a few weeks ago. Adam did an amazing job with U2′s One but Danny Gokey definitely underwhelmed with his chosen track, ‘Dance Little Sister.’

Judge Simon Cowell told the contestants: “Look, none of us would have predicted this, guys.” I find that a strange statement given that Simon predicted that Adam would win just a few days ago.

I love a bit of Danny and tonight he just didn’t disappoint. Danny doesn’t have the edge that Allison and Adam do but he made a great stab at rock week with Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On.’

Randy thought it was just alright, Kara thought he took the swagger too far, Paula gave him an A+ for effort and Simon towed the Randy, Kara line.

I liked it, though it certainly wasn’t the strongest performance of the night. But Danny showed that he could be versatile and try new things and for that surely he deserves some credit?

Danny Gokey hasn’t had a bad week yet and it looks like this week isn’t going to be his weak one. Out of all the contestants Danny looks most comfortable with this genre and most suited to the vocal style.

After he wowed with his version of ‘Come Rain Come Shine’, Cowell told him his vocals were “outstanding” and that he “loved his swagger”. DioGuardi agreed, and Jackson believed he could “release an album like this and win”.

Last night’s American Idol saw a return to form for show favourite Danny Gokey. Danny hasn’t given a bad performance to date but last week was certainly outshone by Adam Lambert’s toned down song.

This week Danny shone with “What Hurts the Most” by Rascal Flatts and Simon Cowell was right when he said that this is the sort of song Danny does best. The rest of the AI team should be taking notes from Danny and Adam for sure!

So Danny Gokey performed ‘Get Ready’ on last nights American Idol and he hit the nail on the head once again.

Danny always gives a really fun performance and he certainly knows how to work the stage. It wasn’t as moving as some of his previous renditions, but then it wasn’t really an emotional song. I loved his moves with the backing singers and his cheesy grin the whole way through!

Randy – “I love the energy and the feeling of it.”
Kara – “I loved your personality tonight.”
Paula – “You’re always reliable on giving us a first-class performance.”
Simon – “It was clumsy and amateurish.”

Sources are suggesting what many already suspected and rumours are rife that American Idol bosses have already chosen their final four contestants.

Considering there are still 11 singers left on the show, that’s not good news for those people that aren’t Danny Gokey, Lil Rounds, Adam Lambert and Alexis Grace.

The New York Daily News reports that an AI insider said not only have the judges already picked their final four, but added that they want either Danny Gokey or Alexis Grace to scoop the title, saying that they are the most marketable.

“Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds are better singers and musicians than Gokey and Grace, but they’re too much like past winners and ‘A’ successes,” the source said. “Adam’s too close in style and sound to Chris Daughtry, while Lil Rounds is a dead ringer for Fantasia. Even their background stories are similar!

“The producers really want it to be Danny or Alexis. They think they’re very commercially viable, have a good image and a great story.”

Former American Idol winner Fantasia has revealed that she is backing Danny Gokey to win this years series.

Fantasia won the third series of AI in 2004 and admitted that she has voted for 28 year old Danny. She said she loves singers who can “take a song that’s not theirs, but make it their own.”
