Week two sees the contestants take part in a sand challenge. The team that wins the challenge is granted immunity at the all-important weekly weigh-in. The team eliminated from the challenge first, face a disadvantage at the weigh in, affecting their overall percentage weight loss.

At the beginning of the week the contestants visit The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, a faculty within The University of Birmingham. Here, they go through a series of health tests and are informed, as a result of their past habits, of their biological ages. ‘These contestants need some cold hard facts about their health’ warns trainer Richard Callender. This is a difficult moment for all of the contestants, particularly as one of them is told – as the situation currently stands – they may have only 15 years left to live.

In this episode we see presenter Davina McCall take part in ‘Last Chance Training’ which lifts the contestants’ spirits. She finds the training session intense and realises the extent to which the contestants are pushing their previously untrained bodies. Davina refers to Biggest Loser exercise experience with trainer Charlotte Ord as ‘she’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, my body is just trashed’!

This episode’s main challenge is ‘Digging to Victory’ which involves five huge piles of sand. Inside each pile are a number of large tokens and each team must collect one blue token from the heap of sand in order to qualify for the next round. The team unable to retrieve a token in the first round are not automatically up for elimination at the weekly weigh-in, facing a two pound weight disadvantage. The two teams who make it to the final round battle it out to find the golden token; the victors escape the risk of elimination and win the ultimate prize.

Davina McCall may not host Celebrity Big Brother any longer, but she is still a huge fan of the reality TV series.

The mum of three presented the fly on the wall show for a decade, while it aired on Channel 4, but when it moved to Channel 5 she stepped down and her shoes were filled by former winner Brian Dowling.

Davina is currently fronting The Biggest Loser for ITV1 and Got To Dance for Sky 1 but admitted that she still loves to get her Big Brother fix.

The brunette beauty told The Daily Star:

“It’s the same brilliant show it was before.”

“People called it a freak show because it had gay people on it or people with Tourette’s and I’m, like: ‘Hello, these are people from society!’

“Calling it a freak show is the most inhumane and worst thing you can do.”

However McCall doesn’t regret her decision to leave the show and explains why she turned down the chance to jump ship to Channel 5 and front their new series.

She said: “After saying goodbye in a such a public way, to go back would have been crazy.

“Especially as I’d set myself up for life after Big Brother.”

Got To Dance 2011 unearthed some of the most amazing and unique dancing talent in the country and now it’s back for a third series this January on Sky 1 HD.

Got To Dance looks to discover the country’s most talented dance floor divas by scouring the nation for Britain’s best crews, troupes and solo dancers of all styles and ages. Davina McCall hosts the competition that will push contestants to their limits as they strive to win the life-changing cash prize of £250k.

Auditions range from the comedic to the sublime and are judged by a panel of outspoken, world-class experts: West End star and actor, Adam Garcia; singer and trained dancer Kimberly Wyatt; and Ashley Banjo, lead dancer and choreographer of Diversity.

A total of eight audition shows have been filmed in Dublin, Glasgow and London. Following these, the judges must whittle those who made the shortlist down to a Final 30, who will then compete across five live semi-final shows. A public vote will decide the eight finalists who will fight for the coveted crown in front of a 6,000-strong audience at Kensington Olympia. This spectacular finale will also be available to view on Sky 3D.

Since their win last year, cheeky double-act Chris & Wes have been touring the country and have secured their own series on Sky 1 HD – CHRIS & WES LET’S DO THIS. Airing on weeknights at 6pm from Monday 19 December, the ten-part series will follow the lads 24/7 as they embark on a host of brand new adventures. Each episode will be driven by a new milestone in the dance careers- be it a looming professional performance or a significant personal achievement.

Brian Dowling has admitted that he is nervous about what former Big Brother presenter Davina McCall will think of his hosting style.

The Irish star will take over from the brunette beauty as presenter of the reality TV, when it relaunches on Channel 4 tomorrow night. He recently revealed that while Davina will always be ‘on hand’ to give him tips and advice, he is dreading her turning up at the complex to watch him at work.

He told BANG Showbiz: “Any queries at all, she’s on hand. But if she came down to the show I really would be so nervous. She’s a huge fan and has said she’ll be watching the show, which means she’ll be watching me.

“I’m terrified, but she picked me as her favourite housemate of all time, which is a real honour. It could be awkward if she’d said someone else.”

Brian also revealed that he won’t be turning to alcohol to calm his nerves on launch night, as it only serves to make him sleepy.

He added: “In the run-through I was so pre-occupied with my timings and everything but Davina just told me to enjoy it. People are very forgiving so as long as you look like you’re enjoying yourself.

“I am going to be nervous, but it’s live TV – you’d be crazy if you weren’t. I’ve got 10 years experience now but I do think no-one else has done this apart from Davina and it’s scary.

“Everyone keeps telling me to do a shot of whisky, but last time I did that I was on a date and fell asleep on the guy’s shoulder so I don’t think that’s a very good idea.”

Brian Dowling has claimed that Davina McCall is giving him her backing, as he prepares to take the Big Brother mantle from her hands.

The Irish star has been confirmed as the new presenter of the returning reality TV series and will follow in the footsteps of the ‘Got To Dance’ presenter, who fronted Big Brother since it first launched in the UK back in 2000.

Dowling claims that he has spoken to McCall about his new role and told New! magazine:

“Davina’s given me her seal of approval. She thinks I’m the best man for the job.

“I owe all this to Davina. Thanks for resigning! Thank God she said no to the job.”

However the bubbly star – who shot back to fame when he took the corwn at the end of last year’s Ultimate Big Brother series – confessed that he is “s***ting it” about making his BB presenting debut.

Brian added:

“I keep thinking I’ll have to take something to get me over the first show. This is nerves beyond anything I’ve ever done. I’m going to be s***ting it.

“But do you know what my biggest fear is? Saying, ‘Hello Big Brother house, this is Davina. You’re live on Channel 4′.”

Celebrity Big Brother will start on the 17th of August and will be directly followed by a full length, normal series.

Brian Dowling has promised Big Brother fans that he will be ‘tougher’ than Davina McCall when he takes over as presenter on the reality TV series next month.

The former winner of the TV show was announced last month as it’s new host and will make his BB presenting debut when the celebrity version launches on Channel 5 on August 17th.

Speaking to The Daily Star he has promised a different hosting style than what viewers are used to and says he intends to be harder on outgoing housemates than his predecessor was.

Brian said:

“I want to be tougher than Davina with the contestants.

“If housemates have behaved in a way viewers don’t like, they need to explain it. And if someone’s been two-faced or betrayed a friend in the house they need to be held to account. Davina was brilliant at being compassionate but I want to be a lot tougher with them.”

Anna Nolan has revealed that she is fully backing Brian Dowling as the new Big Brother presenter.

The 40 year old TV presenter and producer shot to fame as the runner up on the first ever series of the reality TV show back in 2000 and has crossed paths with her fellow Irish star on many occasions.

Writing for The Irish Herald today, Anna praised Dowling’s professionalism, saying that she has seen him at work on many occasions on Irish TV channel RTE. Detailing how she once watched Brian work on Katherine Lynch’s Wagon’s Den, Anna wrote:

He is spontaneous, professional and naturally funny. As wing-man, he holds himself back and lets her shine. But I could see that he is a huge talent waiting to burst on to the screens.

However, Nolan does confess that Brian is stepping into some pretty big shoes that will be hard to fill.

Davina McCall has presented all previous series’ of the show and became the face of Big Brother throughout the noughties. Now Brian will take over, as BB moves from Channel 4 to Five and on how he should handle the takeover, Anna added:

So how on earth is he going to outdo Davina? As long as he doesn’t try to mimic her in any way, he should be absolutely fine. It’s Brian time, and he has the talent, the experience and the charm to make this show his own and bring his own career to the heights it deserves.

Davina, who of course hosts the show, says the programme’s bosses are looking for 14 newbies for the new series, who will undergo an eight-week regime at a house in Leicestershire featuring up to five hours of exercise a day.

“Our trainers are so amazing and as last year’s winner proves, we offer contestants the opportunity to genuinely change their lives for the better.”

Contestants will compete as couples, which may include best friends, parents and children and/or partners.

At the end of each week, they’ll take part in a ‘Weigh In’ with the couple who’s lost the least weight leaving the competition.

After living in the house, contestants will continue to train, and the winner is announced in a studio final hosted by Davina.

Wil Graham won the last series by losing eight and a half stone.

Josie Gibson has admitted that she doesn’t stand a chance of replacing Davina McCall on ‘Big Brother’.

The blonde beauty won the most recent series of the reality TV show, when it aired on Channel 4 last year. While promoting her new fly on the wall series, Josie admitted that she does have a “good showreel” but wouldn’t get the chance to appear on the reboot on Channel 5 because she doesn’t have enough experience.

She said: “I wouldn’t like to take over from Davina. I wouldn’t get asked, anyway.

“I’ve been presenting and I’ve got a really good showreel now but I wouldn’t get asked anyway because my experience is not there – not like someone like Emma Willis or Brian Dowling.”

However Josie – who formed a relationship with fellow competitor John James Parton in the house – would like to be involved in the spin-off show ‘Big Brother’s Little Brother’, which was previously presented by Russell Brand.

She added to Digital Spy: “I would love to be involved in BBLB. Because I’ve been in the house as well, it would be nice because I’d understand what they’re going through. So I’d love to do that, but I don’t even know if they’re bringing BBLB back.

“Even if I don’t get picked, I won’t feel like a loser because at least I’ve tried. You never feel like a failure if you’ve tried your best.”
