Davina McCall will host a mass dance routine for the Scottish general public to feature in the new Sky1 series Just Dance; the new search for the UK’s best solo dance acts, dancing duos and talented troupes.

18 million Brits are involved in some form of dance each year, so if you love throwing some crazy shapes in your local nightclub, tiptoeing through the tango, sweating your way through dance aerobics in the gym or critiquing dance stars from the comfort of your arm chair, Davina needs you.

“I am so excited that the first rounds of auditions are to be held in Edinburgh, one of my favourite cities. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Scots do in the dance stakes and of course, I’m hoping a few kilts will be showcased on stage”

Choreographer Ashley Wallen has devised two different dance routines incorporating an exciting mix of music ranging from Madonna to James Brown. Ashley’s previous work includes the T Mobile Liverpool Street advert and West End show Rent Remixed.

The two medleys for the mass dance event are:

Got To Dance and Davina McCall invite you, your friends, your family and even your neighbours to take part in the biggest dance event on British TV ever.

First Stop Edinburgh as Just Dance comes to Scotland to take over the Capital! Come and join Davina and the Just Dance judges in Princes St Gardens at the Ross bandstand in Edinburgh on Friday 9th October. We plan to bring the city to a standstill so come and be part of Dancing in the Streets.

To take part, check out these two videos and learn the routine devised by one of the world’s top choreographers, Ashley Wallen. You need to watch the dance demo then listen to separate the instruction video. The videos shown are for Edinburgh only, check back next week for Manchester and London clips.

Ashley is responsible for the sensational Flash mob dance, which brought London’s Liverpool St Station to a standstill, as well as working with top stars such as Mariah Carey and Kylie Minogue! Last month he enlisted the help of the Black Eyed Peas and a crowd of 15,000 people to perform a surprise choreographed routine in front of a delighted Oprah Winfrey during a taping of her show in Downtown Chicago!” You can see it all on YouTube.

So here’s what you have to do:

Ashley shows you the whole routine to music and talks you through it bit by bit. Learn what you can but there will be professionals to help you on the day so don’t worry!

Arrive at 11am ready to rehearse with the Sky 1 cameras and we will be filming until 5pm latest.

Bring your dancing shoes, an umbrella and something warm to wear.

Food and drinks will be available to purchase nearby.

There isn’t a secure cloakroom so please leave valuables at home.

Any age welcomed but children are not allowed to miss school for this event. Children are welcome to learn online and join in after school.

Please avoid stilettos or ‘indoor only’ dance shoes such as ballet pumps.

You are welcome to come in costume. The more colourful the better and the more chance you’ll be able to spot yourself on telly.

All standards of dancers are welcome – Just Dance auditionees or the general public. You never know you might get spotted and end up with an audition in front of our judges and one step towards winning £100,000.

There will be time to rehearse the routine in the morning but the more you learn online the quicker we can get going. We will continue even if there is moderate rain. Bring warm clothing and an umbrella and we will go dancing in the rain!

Got To Dance Edinburgh: Has now taken place at The Ross Bandstand, Princes St Gardens, Edinburgh on Friday 9th October.

Manchester: In front of the town hall, Albert Square, Manchester at 11am on Friday 16th October.

London: 28th October – Location to be confirmed.

Davina McCall has claimed this years Big Brother went back to basics and despite falling viewing numbers, showed the programme at its best.

McCall told Heat magazine: “BB went back to basics this year and I’ve really enjoyed it. There were no secret rooms or complications. It was Big Brother at its best.

“I loved it when the old Big Brother housemates went into the house, particularly when Rex, in an alpha male way, gave Marcus a pat on the head as if he were a small boy.”

She added: “Even though the rule-breaking meant the housemates lost the prize fund, I have to say I’ve enjoyed their slightly rebellious streak this year.

“The new housemates going in was a real highlight. I think the five we had going in were the best ‘new’ housemates we’ve ever had. Never before have new housemates caused such a stir in the house.”

Big Brother presenter Davina McCall is said to have received a number of death threats during this year’s series.

The Mirror reported that Davina received emails that threatened to kill her on air. Her response was to hire three burly security guards and a private investigator.

A source said: “She was really, really terrified. On the show you wouldn’t have realised anything was wrong, but behind the scenes she was very scared.”

The detective traced the emails to a 19-year-old living near Manchester.

“She was very relieved when he was found,” the insider revealed. “It was a very worrying time for everyone.”

A Big Brother spokesman said: “We always have the appropriate security in place.”

In a video interview for Channel 4, Davina McCall has explained why Channel 4’s decision to axe the show has upset her so much.

“This week has been such a shocker. I got a phone call from my producer saying that next year we were going to have the last Celebrity Big Brother, and indeed the last Big Brother. Even though I kind of knew it was coming to an end and that it gives Channel 4 an opportunity to try something else, and they’ve had a lot of flack for Big Brother in the past, I think they’ve been very brave to stick with it as long as they did.

She went on to explain how she reacted to the news saying:

I just felt really sad, I cried for a bit and my husband was being very nice to me all day. It was kind of a weird day, I felt like I was grieving the loss of a friend. There’s a lot of stuff other than the show that I experience while I’m making big Brother that means a lot to me. For example, there are people that work behind the scenes at Elstree and at Endemol and Channel 4 that I see twice a year but I know it will be okay, (because) I’ll see them in three months. It’s sad to think that we won’t have that anymore. It’s like leaving school or university; it’s that same kind of feeling.

But Davina is looking forward to the final year of BB and is expecting both the celebrity and the normal series to be ‘very silly.’

I think next year will be silly; I think this is the only way to describe it. We’ll definitely go out with a bang. I certainly will be quite naughty, I’m not sure in what way or how but it could involve some shenanigans in the house or something, I want to go in the house really badly. Staying the night has been vetoed by my husband because sleeping is the only thing he really gets to see me do on my own. Also, I’d probably pick my nose or fart or something, I’d just never live it down. I definitely want to go in there at some point. I’m going to just really have a laugh with it and send it out with a proper bang! People are saying Big Brother’s over, but it’s a good format so I think it doesn’t necessarily have to be over, it can come back in another guise. I don’t know how or where or if or when or anything but I think there’s life in the old dog yet.”

Davina McCall is so upset by the forthcoming end of Big Brother, that she plans to enter the BB house as a contestant!

She wrote on her Twitter page: “Well next year we may as well go out with a bang. Think I’ll audition ha ha. Yes please (sic)!”

Davina previously expressed her upset at Channel 4’s decision to bring the show to an end next year.

She said: “I have a really amazing feeling watching Big Brother 10 now.

“It’s like I want to cherish every second and love it even more, if that’s possible.

“I am sad. I just refuse to believe this is the end. It is a sad day for Big Brother fans.”

I think it would be pretty amazing if Davina entered Celebrity Big Brother next January, she would so have the insider advantage!

Just as Big Brother draws to an end, Sky1 and Sky1 HD announced that DAVINA McCALL will be the new presenter of upcoming dance competition JUST DANCE, scheduled for broadcast in January 2010.

Davina will preside over the nationwide auditions, bringing her own inimitable charm and humour to an otherwise tough and competitive audition programme. The GOT TO DANCE team are searching for Britain’s best dancers – whatever their style, combination or age. Style, grace, personality, athleticism and timing will all be vital skills for our contestants. The winner of GOT TO DANCE must show these qualities from day one and sprinkle themselves with that indefinable star quality that turns the good into great.

The first round of GOT TO DANCE, known as ‘Dancing In The Street’ auditions, will take place in Glasgow, followed by Manchester and London. Huge flash-mob dance routines will be created at all of the audition venues, and only the most entertaining dancers will be invited to a second audition in front of the judges within the Sky ‘Dance Domes’.

Following the auditions, the judges will select eighteen acts to make it through to the three semi-finals, and then the best two dance acts chosen from each show will make it to the Grand Final. The winner will be selected by the viewing public.

Davina will be there at all stages to guide the contestants through the process. Combining her experience interacting with large crowds and truly engaging with people, she’ll ensure we take viewers on a gruelling, yet once in a lifetime, journey.

The stage is set, now all they have to do is GOT TO DANCE. Who has what it takes to be crowned GOT TO DANCE Champion 2010?

The ‘Dancing In The Street’ auditions will kick off in October 2009 on the following dates:

Big Brother presenter Davina McCall has admitted being annoyed at housemate Tom walking out of the house.

Writing on her Twitter account, called him a ‘loser.’

“I’m annoyed,” she explained. “Tom was quite a funny housemate… good observations… but leavers are losers… it really annoys me.”

According to the Daily Mail, presenters Holly Willoughby and Davina McCall are “battling it out” in the bid for Fern Britton’s job on This Morning.

The paper claims that ITV has “narrowed down” a long list of possible replacements for Fern which included high profile presenters such as Fiona Phillips, Mel Sykes and Gabby Roslin to leave Big Brother star Davina and Dancing On Ice host Holly.

An ITV source is quoted in the paper as saying, “There are good reasons for having either one of them – they appeal in different ways.

“We are in a buyer’s market for this job and talent are not dumb. They know it is a very good gig.”

However, it seems that Holly is hot favourite, especially given that Phillip Schofield has made public his hope that she’s given the top job alongside him.

We’ll soon find out who the new This Morning co-host is to be though because Fern leaves in just over two weeks on July 17th.

Big Brother presenter Davina McCall has revealed on her Twitter page that there will be another series of BB next year.

This is what her announcement said: “Message to all. There is another BB next year. I am presenting it.”

What she didn’t say was whether she means that the summer season will be back or if she was referring to a Celebrity edition in the New Year but we’ll keep you updated if Davina adds any further announcements.
