Poor little Perri Luc Kiely. His dance group, Diversity, were invited to perform for Prime Minister Gordon Brown yesterday and in the midst of their performance he backflipped, then fell.

Mr Brown looked on in disbelief as the 13 year old collapsed in fits of tears, probably more embarrassed than hurt, and had to be comforted by his team mates.

A spokesman for the group said Perri was “absolutely fine, just a bit shocked”.

It’s been revealed today that Michael Jackson had signed Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity as a support act for his London shows just days before he died.

According to The Sun newspaper, the dance act would’ve received £10,000 per night and if they’d performed at each of his 50 shows, that would’ve netted them half a million pounds.

The group have often said that their dance moves – which won the nation’s votes on BGT – were inspired by Jackson and last night, a spokesmen for the group told the paper, “The boys signed their deal last week. They were over the moon.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime gig.”

Diversity choreographer Ashley Banjo has admitted that the whole group is still in shock at winning this years Britain’s Got Talent.

The group leader told the BBC that life has been “mad” since they stole the crown from BGT.

Banjo said: “I’m probably not quite as shocked as I was when I first won, I think I couldn’t even talk when the judges came to me, but it still hasn’t settled in 100% for me.

“It’s unreal. It’s been the most surreal ten days of my life so far. Photoshoots, interviews, people wanting to talk to us, people coming up to us in the street. Four weeks ago, we would walk through the street and no-one would know who we are and now all of a sudden, the whole country knows who we are. It’s mad.”

Diversity young’un Perri Luc Kiely added: “I’ve been back to school and everyone’s been so happy for me, I’ve got a lot of support.

“It was weird because normally I just walked through the playground and was just meeting my friends, but now everyone’s coming up to me.”

Piers Morgan has said that Diversity were “very lucky” to win Britain’s Got Talent. Piers made no secret on the show that he preferred rival dance troupe Flawless and he added that they may have won had they taken to the stage first.

Morgan told The Daily Mail: “I think Flawless were unlucky to have gone on first. If they had gone last it may have been different.

“They’re both amazing dance groups. Diversity were just very lucky.”

I would have to disagree with Piers wholeheartedly on this point. Whilst Flawless were astounding, Diversity’s routine was much more imaginative and creative and pushed the boundaries in a way that Flawless’s didn’t. The boys are probably on a par with each other when it comes to dancing skills, however on the night, Diversity definitely had more of a wow factor.

Pop star Kylie Minogue, has revealed that she would be interested in having Diversity perform on her next tour.

Kylie admitted that she loved the group on Saturday night’s Britain’s Got Talent final.

“Of course, I watched the final of Britain’s Got Talent. I thought Diversity were amazing,” she said.

“While I was watching them, I was straight on the phone to my choreographer saying, ‘Turn on your TV and watch these dancers, they are fantastic’. They would be great on a tour.”

Diversity have revealed that their first Britain’s Got Talent routine was inspired by cancer victim Sylvia Lewis.

At the winners press conference on Sunday Ashley from the group said:

“We did a show for a close friend whom we lost through cancer. Her name was Sylvia Lewis and that show at the end of 2006 was the first big thing we did.

“The dance we did for our first Britain’s Got Talent audition had parts of that and was inspired by her. When she passed away – that was how all this started.”

Banjo’s mum Danielle told The Mirror: “They’ve been together practically their whole lives but only formed Diversity properly about two years ago. Sylvia was like an auntie to the boys and they were really sad when she died.

“She’s the reason they got together, because it was so tragic and she inspired them. They didn’t mention it earlier because they didn’t want people to think they were after the sympathy vote.”

Diversity leader Ashley Banjo has revealed that he plans to continue with his studies and finish his degree despite having just won Britain’s Got Talent.

Diversity will be performing on the BGT UK tour and may follow up with a tour of their own but Ashley wants to make sure he has his education to fall back on in case dancing gigs dry up at a later date.

‘My education matters to me,’ he reveals. ‘I want to get my degree under my belt. It’s vital to have something to fall back on because nobody knows what the future holds.

‘It seems to me the entertainment industry is cut-throat and if you don’t have a plan B up your sleeve then you’re likely to come a cropper.

‘As far back as I can remember, my parents drummed into me the importance of doing well at school. I’m not going to be spinning on my head when I’m 50, but as a qualified scientist I can always earn a living.

‘My brother Jordan, who is also in Diversity, plans to train as an accountant.’

It was almost a foregone conclusion and when Diversity ended up in the top two on tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent with Susan Boyle I was sure she would win. We have been behind Diversity and Stavros Flatley all night but it seemed unlikely that they could overcome the Boyle juggernaut.

However the dance troupe triumphed and will go on to perform on this years Royal Variety Show, no one deserves it more.

However many issues have been thrown up by this years series and many questions need to be asked before the auditions for next year begin. After watching Hollie Steel crumble on last night’s semi final, we need to ask if it is detrimental to young children to be judged this way and put under this sort of pressure? After watching Susan Boyle come under attack from the media as she struggled to cope with the attention and furore surrounding her, does the show need to safeguard its more vulnerable competitors more stringently?

Dance troupe Diversity wowed the judges and the public on last night’s Britain’s Got Talent and managed to secure themselves a place in Saturday night’s final.

Group choreographer Ashley Banjo has revealed that he thinks it was fate which made them enter the show this year.

Speaking to Unreality TV earlier today Ashley said:

“We thought about entering the show in previous years but this year seemed like the right time to do it. It was almost like our last chance as some of the guys are 25 and may not want to dance with us forever. It seemed like it was fate that we entered and everything just seemed to fall into place when we did. It was like someone upstairs was trying to tell us something.”

When asked if they had been confident about their chances on the show Ashley told Unreality TV:

“You never know what to expect from these things but we were hopeful because what we do is quite different. We are the sort of act that you love or you hate. I knew we were good and I was quite confident in some ways but you never can tell what the judges will say.”

“The pressure was massive!”

Susan Boyle may have sailed through last night’s Britain’s Got Talent semi-final and on into Saturday’s grand final but there are those amongst us that were distinctly underwhelmed by her performance.

We asked Diversity’s Ashley Banjo what he would say to those people who didn’t love Susan’s performance last night and were wondering what all the fuss was about. He told Unreality TV:

“I think that Susan was amazing last night but there is no way that any performance could live up to all that hype. She has been everywhere over the last few weeks and no matter how she sang some people were going to dislike it. It was a tough call but I think she did really well.”
