Dom Joly thinks Gillian McKeith “behaved very selfishly” on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get me out of Here!’.

The comedian – who arrived in camp four days after the rest of the contestants – is not surprised the public continued to vote for the TV nutritionist to take part in trials because of her attention-seeking antics on the show.

He said: “Everybody was quite open and friendly, and I was quickly filled in about the ‘Gillian situation’.

“It turned out that Dr. Gillian McKeith – a woman famous for analysing people’s stools on television and not being a doctor- was afraid of everything.

“The public had smelt fear and, like a bloodthirsty crowd at the Coliseum, was baying for blood.

“Gillian didn’t help herself. She had a medical excuse for everything and behaved very selfishly around the camp. My favourite fact about her was that her husband had been unable to join her poor children in Australia… because he had a phobia of flying.”

Despite not getting along with Gillian, Dom bonded with his other campmates and was delighted former ‘X Factor’ finalist Stacey Solomon was crowned Queen of the Jungle as he had tipped her to win from the moment he joined the show.

He told The Independent newspaper: “The first person I saw when I entered it was Gillian McKeith, who stared at me with sullen, hostile eyes. Others were more friendly – I recognised Stacy Solomon, the sweet girl from ‘The X Factor’, and adored her straight away. She was very welcoming and made me feel at home.

“As usual, the public got it right. From the moment I met her I was sure Stacey Solomon was the winner. She was truly a freak of nature – a lovely, funny, gifted person who managed to dissolve all my inner cynicism within seconds.”

Dom Joly lost 24lbs on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.

The comedian was evicted from the reality TV show last night (02.12.10) and is astonished by the changes in his body after 15 days on a jungle diet.

He said on TV show ‘This Morning’: “I haven’t seen my cheekbones since 1999. It’s insane. It was like going on a forced bootcamp detox – but someone has paid you to do it. It wasn’t pleasant, but it did it!

“I lost 24 lbs – that’s two stone pretty much. I’m down two trouser sizes, two t-shirt sizes – it’s amazing.

“I’ve been wandering around the pool at the hotel in just a little thong!”

After leaving the show yesterday, Dom – who joined the camp on day four – admitted he had considered quitting many times because he found jungle life so difficult.

He said: “I so nearly walked so many times. It was tougher than I expected, way tougher. I’ve watched this show so many times and you see people whining, and you think, ‘Come on, get over it’, but it is really hard.”

Kayla Collins had to lie to the stars on last night’s I’m A Celebrity and pretend a big row had broken out between best jungle friends Jenny and Dom.

The plan was cooked up while Shaun and Stacey were retrieving the Celebrity Chest.

Relaying the news of the challenge Dom said: “The basis of a good lie is believability – what’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told Jenny?”

The comedienne replied: “I had a mole removed from my back and when someone asked me how I’d got the scar I pretended that as a small child I was lying naked on a rug in the garden and a snake came along. The gardener shot the snake and the bullet bounced off a wall and went into my back.”

A surprised Dom replied: “You don’t need a master class from me!”

He decided the lie should be based on him being miffed that Jenny hadn’t thanked him properly for getting her letter and when Shaun and Stacey returned, Kayla could lie that the two comics had had a massive row.

Dom suggested, “The moment we spot them I’ll b*gger off somewhere and Jenny you go lie in bed so it’ll just be Kayla and you say ‘you’ve missed major drama’ they’ll ask you what happened and you say ‘I don’t know, Jenny was telling Dom he should go and get some wood for the fire because it was going out and he just snapped, like he snapped with me you should say, he just lost it and it wasn’t about the wood I don’t think. He was angry about the letter and I didn’t hear what they said but then they were shouting and Dom stormed off””

Jenny then added, “I might be nearly crying, I was close to tears but also very angry because I think he’s being deliberately obtuse.”

And Dom continued, “And Jenny, you think I did it for votes. You’re going on about it quite seriously, you clearly didn’t do it to be nice, you did it because you thought it would play well on camera.”

When Shaun and Stacey returned with the chest the lie started to unfold. Kayla told them: “Oh my god, you missed the biggest fight, Dom and Jenny, I was sleeping but Dom screamed at Jenny, he was calling her ungrateful and she’s been in bed every since. It was so uncomfortable.”

Both the singers looked really uncomfortable then the row blazed up again with Jenny accusing Dom of getting her letter from home just to look good on camera.

Jenny then asked for Shaun for a cigarette which shocked him. “Are you sure? Come on my two loved people, you are lovely people both of you, you are the grown ups here.”

In the Bush Telegraph an upset looking Shaun said: “I’ve just walked back into camp and Dom’s walking around like Marlon Brando and Jenny’s in bed. Jenny went nuts apparently and accused Dom of only getting her letter to win more votes. Dom reacted and there was a big argument and now apparently Dom is walking. I’ve said don’t be mad, it’ll be forgotten about but I don’t think Dom will walk, there’s no point now.”

Stacey said: “Dom looks really sad, this is my worst nightmare I hate rows with people it was none of my business but it’s weird because they were so close.”

Later the terrible trio revealed their row wasn’t real and they had done it for treats. As a reward for their lying efforts, they were given five cup-a-soup sachets and Dom and Kayla both received copies of the letters from home that they saw go up in flames yesterday.

Kayla Collins and Dom Joly were eliminated from ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ last night.

Busty Playboy model Kayla was the first to leave the jungle, closely followed by funny man Dom and both agreed that Stacey Solomon should win the ITV1 reality show.

Speaking of former ‘X Factor’ star Stacey, Kayla, 23, said: “She is an amazing person inside and out” while Dom described her as “an extraordinary individual”.

While she backed Stacey to win, Kayla says she was pleased to be leaving the jungle as she had missed her home comforts.

She said: “I can’t wait to get into my big giant comfy bed.”

Dom, 43, admitted he nearly walked out of the show on several occasions but was pleased he stayed until near the end.

He told hosts Ant and Dec: “I nearly walked so many times.”

“It was way tougher than I expected. I’ve watched this show so many times. But it was harder than it looks.”

Stacey is now the favourite to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, but faces competition from former Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder and funny woman Jenny Eclair.

Torrential rain threatened camp on last night’s I’m A celebrity, as Australia’s first day of summer became a wash out.

Unable to sleep the disgruntled celebrities spent most of the night huddled around the camp fire trying to get warm.

In the Bush Telegraph Dom asked, “Can you turn the rain off, I know you control everything please. The creak is like a raging river, swimming pool’s flooded, camp is soaking. I’m soaking enough already!”

He continued, “The whole camp is muddy, it’s like Glastonbury at its very worst and Rolf Harris is about to come on the main stage. It’s that level.”

Back in camp a miserable Kayla said “I’m so p*ssed off.” As she fought back the tears, the model was comforted by Shaun.

Later Kayla admitted, “I’m having such a bad day, like I hate everyone and everything…living in the jungle, especially for this long is not for me.”

Having told Dom she “hates this place” the comedian commented to Jenny that the “playmate’s cracked. She’s just going mental, stomping her foot” then mimicking her voice said “I hate this place.”

As the celebrities headed back to camp after Linford left, Shaun said “You want to go but then you’re sort of glad the public have kept you in.”

A disappointed Kayla then said, “I’m just going to be a miserable b*tch to everyone.” But Dom then muttered, “That shouldn’t be hard.”

Picking up on the mood of camp, Stacey said “Everyone woke up a bit grumpy. No-one had a good night’s sleep so everyone was a little bit touchy this morning.”

Yesterday wasn’t going well for I’m A Celebrity’s Kayla Collins and as she sat looking crestfallen by the camp fire on her own Jenny commented to Dom and Shaun that it’s hard for her but Dom disagreed saying, “Its hard for us…if you looked like that you wouldn’t mind. You’d be like ‘yeah I’m alright who wants it?’ Come on its not hard for her she’s 23 years old. I’d love to be hard up and 23 years old.”

As Dom joined Kayla and Aggro by the fire the camp commented how unlike their wet surroundings, it was the conversation that was drying up. A frustrated Dom tried to turn the chat to Marcel Proust but a confused Aggro replied “What’s that?” whilst Kayla commented “We can’t talk about that because we don’t even know who it is.”

Fed up with inane conversations from the younger celebrities, Dom and Jenny both agreed they couldn’t take much more of camp life and took themselves off for a walk and a moan.

Dom said: “There’s two tribes left, the young and the oldies and sadly I’m on of the oldies, the quality of the conversation is nosediving, it’s X Factor, Big Brother and Tinchy Stryder.

Jenny complained: “I can’t talk to a bunch of small minded 23 year olds any more, I can’t deal with it, I am f***ing bored sh**less, none of them have ever read a book or had any experience apart from Saturday evening light entertainment television and I’ve really tried. I find Aggro the most intelligent to talk to but Stacey is fabulous but her life is small.”

Disagreeing, Dom said: “I find Aggro the least interesting, he had nothing to say at all. If you go I’m bu**ered, who do I talk to? It’s excruciating, who is Tinchie Stryder and why should I care?”

Thankful that the Trigger Happy TV presenter was with her, Jenny said: “Thank god you are here, I’m that far away from walking.”

Meanwhile Stacey and Aggro were having an interesting conversation about the The X Factor and Jedward.

“I liked Jedward, they were my friends, others weren’t as nice. It’s not fair to make judgement of anyone’s character, I can’t do that here as we are not in a normal situation. There were some people on The X Factor I didn’t get on with while they were in the house, they were quite nasty, but on the tour we had the time of our lives because we were in a normal situation.”

The I’m A Celebrity stars have come to realise that Kayla Collins is a tough, street smart girl.

“Over dunny gate, she went mental, that was pretty girl syndrome that is how she is, she showed the real Kayla, she was angry, you could see it in her eyes, and you wouldn’t mess with that. She’s not stupid, well she is quite stupid but she is street smart. She is tough,” said Dom.

He added in the Bush Telegraph: “The real Kayla is coming out and it’s not a pretty sight. I reckon she’s really high maintenance in real life. Ball buster is the word I’d use.

“It was funny when we all said that it was her who did the poo, she was like f*** all you a**holes. She went mental, she shouted 17 million people think I did the poo on the seat, I was like what?!”

Linford said the model completely shocked him with her foul mouthed tirade when she came back from beating Alison in the Bush Tucker Trial. “It’s good to see a bit of fire in her belly.”

Shaun agreed with them: “Little blonde girl in her game, you’ve go to be a tough little motherf***** to do what she does.”

Sticking up for her Aggro said: “Come on she goes and does her work, puts herself about and gets out there, she got herself in Playboy from being on myspace.”

Dom Joly and Jenny Eclair said they are ready to quit I’m A Celebrity because they are bored with the conversation and camp life.

“I’ve felt fine, weepy, mad, fine, weepy mad today and I’m not sure I can go through another day. It’s like time has stood still like groundhog day.”

Dom agreed: “I’ve had it with this endless round of conversation, I need to talk to someone else, if you weren’t here I would have definitely walked, I need to talk about something else, I sit here and listen to endless conversations about sh** music I hate.

“It is groundhog day in ever decreasing circles, I could very much do with Kayla going. She’s really annoying me for no reason at all it’s totally not her fault, it’s mine.”

The pair discussed the fact that Kayla hadn’t asked them anything about their lives. “She doesn’t do my head in but she doesn’t do anything for me at all. I try to be sympathetic but she’s totally disinterested in me and what I do, she’s only asked me one question, what I used my mayonnaise for at home. She told me today she’s worried about her cat.”

Dom concurred: “That’s the big emotional issue of her life. I think she finds you frightening because you are old. You represent her future.”

A bit miffed, the comedienne said: “I’m trying not to be insulted by that! She finds Hugh Hefner a bit disgusting to her credit, she cringes about all the girls who actually sleep with him.”

On last night’s I’m A Celebrity, Dom pretended to be a cockroach and sneaked up on Gillian, causing the presenter to burst into laughter.

Dressed in the fancy dress outfit they received after losing yesterday’s chest, the comedian sneaked off to get changed and crept back in to play the prank.

As Gillian sat unaware Dom tapped her on the shoulder. The presenter screamed then burst into fits of hysterics and asked “Did you get the reaction you expected?”

Dom then joked, “Thought you’d had it easy of a bit.”

Gillian then commented, “I so haven’t overcome everything have I?”

Linford Christie and Dom Joly became emotional on last night’s I’m A Celebrity, when the camp mates opened their parcels from home.

Having won the gifts in the secret mission challenge, feelings were running high as they each took turns to open their gifts.

But it was Linford and Dom who found it the toughest. Linford was in tears after one of his gifts was a picture of his daughter, whilst Dom struggled to read the postcard from his wife and kids. Instead it was read out by Gillian. He later commented, “It was odd hearing my wife’s voice read out by Gillian McKeith.” But the comedian welled up at his message and later admitted, “I never cry, I didn’t cry properly but I couldn’t read my own thing.”

Stacey received some knickers and joked, “a pair of knickers, cause I’m a dirty ol’ cow! I need some new knickers.”

Shaun was chuffed with his package which contained two energy drinks, two sachets of Cup a Soup and a card from his wife and kids. He turned a little red when he read out the card and his wife had written “Keep up the hard work Tarzan!”

The camp mates all admitted it was better than Christmas and referred to the day and their “Jungle Christmas.”
