Lady Gaga was a little uncomfortable when questioned about Kitty Brucknell on tonight’s episode of Alan Carr’s Chatty Man.

The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker caused quite a stir on last week’s X Factor episode, when she ran onto the stage to comfort eliminated singer Kitty Brucknell as she wept about her fate.

The newspapers later claimed that as they downed their sorrows with some wine backstage, Gaga offered Kitty the chance to duet with her this year. However, when questioned about the story, the singer admitted that her next collaboration will be with someone a little more high profile. She explained:

I don’t know, I haven’t really dueted with anyone recently and my next duet I believe will be with Elton John. I’m already working on my next album and I played him a song I wrote and he loved it.

On why she felt the need to support Kitty last weekend, the superstar confessed that she was so used to rejection herself that she had a lot of empathy for the wannabe. She added:

I felt really bad because I know how rejection feels in the business. I got signed, I got dropped, I got signed again.

That’s what the Marry The Night video is about. It’s about when I got dropped from my record label and it’s the story of what happened in a day.

Poor Kitty, we hope she isn’t too disappointed!

Simon Cowell has hit back at Sir Elton John, after he publicly criticised his various TV talent shows.

The ‘X Factor’ boss – who previously fronted ‘American Idol’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ – accused the ‘Rocket Man’ singer of not investing anything in new music himself, despite being ridiculously rich.

He said: “Well, look. This is somebody who charges what, a million dollars a private gig? Two million dollars, you know? I don’t know whether he’s concerned about himself — maybe he is.”

Simon, 51, also insists he won’t take critics such as Elton seriously until they use their wealth and success to help aspiring musicians in the same way his shows do.

He told TV talk show host Piers Morgan: “They always bleat on that we’re not giving other people a chance. And I always want to say to them, ‘I tell you what, you just made a million dollars off your last private gig. Go and give it to a bunch of young musicians you care about, put them in the studio. Go and nurture them. Go and spend some time looking after them. Then I’ll buy your argument.’

“They’re only worried about themselves.”

Last year, Elton revealed he turned down appearing on the judging panel of ‘American Idol’ because he found reality television “a**e-paralysingly brain crippling”

Simon Cowell has joked that he would only hire Elton John, if he wanted to run his new creche on The X Factor.

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer has publicly criticised the reality TV show on many occasions and when asked whether he could overlook his rants and hire Elton for his new American series, Cowell told Access Hollywood:

“If we’ve got somebody with kids, he’s more than welcome to come along and run the nursery. So if you’re watching, Elton, there’s another job. I’m serious. He can do it.”

Cowell also confirmed that not only has he spoken to Paula Abdul about returning to his side, but admitted that she is on a ‘smaller group’ of stars he is considering for his all new judging panel.

However, negotiations are still ongoing and Simon is not yet near his final decision. He said:

“[A few days ago], we met somebody who I’ve never met before in my life, who I just loved. And that’s why it’s good to kind of delay the process [of selecting the judges].”

He added: “It’s not about necessarily the TV show per se, it’s people. You genuinely gotta trust that they’re gonna be able to do the job you’re paying them to do. And like I said, a hit-maker who worked in America and has had experience, I think is crucial to this panel as well.”

Other stars in the running according to the music mogul are Mariah Carey, Nicole Scherzinger and George Michael. He previously admitted that he had also spoken to Jessica Simpson and Usher.

Elton John has hit out at modern pop music, saying that most of today’s female artists sound the same.

Becoming a dad for the first time hasn’t mellowed the legendary singer and composer and in an interview with The Mirror, he hit out at stars like Cheryl Cole and The Saturdays saying:

“Frankly, they all sound the same. It’s hard to tell Girls Aloud from The Saturdays. And then there’s Cheryl Cole… It’s all c**p.

“British pop music like that is the worst, it’s just awful. It could have been made by anybody.”

And seemingly referring to Cheryl’s performance on an X Factor results show, the Rocket Man also blasted performers who mime instead of singing live. He added:

“All lip-synchers should be shot. Only drag queens are allowed to lip-synch.”

“The records I love are all about musicianship.

“When you put a bunch of musicians in a room together, there’s human soul, there’s magic in there. That’s not happening now.”

Elton then turned his tongue on boybands and reality TV stars, saying that 99% of them can’t sing live either. He ranted:

“Bands who fly in vocals – f*** off! I want to kill them.

“Go and see Take That or Westlife and how much of that is live?

“I know Gary Barlow can sing – that solves that one.

“I think they genuinely do sing their stuff, but 99% of the other f****** Herberts out there can’t sing a note.

“Who the f*** is Kim Kardashian? Some stupid old tart from somewhere or other.

“Video killed music.

“Reality has killed talent.

“Can any X Factor people cut the mustard?”

This week’s X Factor show will feature songs written and performed by Elton John.

It seems a strange choice, considering that the British singer/songwriter recently blasted the show telling Metro:

‘It’s become boring, a***-paralysingly brain crippling.’

The theme was confirmed by vocal coach Yvie Burnett on Matt Edmondson’s The F Factor last night and she promised an ‘incredible’ show, saying:

Elton John has had hit after hit. It’s going to be an incredible night.

Elton’s songs certainly are varied enough for the X Factor contestants and we have managed to find out a few of the tracks planned for Saturday’s live show.

Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Lloyd Daniels sang I’m Still Standing, Danyl Johnson took on Your Song, Olly Murs crooned ‘Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting’ and Stacey Solomon belted out ‘Something About The Way You Look Tonight.’

Performing on next week’s results show will be boyband legends Westlife, Take That and the gorgeous JLS!

Sir Elton John has hit out at The X Factor for the second time this month.

The ‘Your Song’ singer reportedly told Chris Evans that he thinks contestants will struggle with the short lived nature of fame, that reality TV shows often generate.

The Sunday Mirror, quotes him as saying:

“You’re putting the cart before the horse and it’s awful to be famous and then not famous. My fears are for the artists.

“It’s just hard for those acts being used to TV. And to come off and go out on tour, sometimes they don’t have the experience to back that up.”

In a recent interview with Metro, Elton also slated the ITV show, saying that former winners Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis are at the mercy of song writers, instead of developing their own creativity. He claimed:

Musical legend Elton John has blasted reality TV shows such as X Factor, American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent, calling them ‘paralysingly brain crippling.’

In an interview with Metro, the ‘Your Song’ singer admitted that he had been asked to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol this year but turned the role down. He added:

‘I’m not a fan of talent shows. I probably wouldn’t have lasted if I’d gone on one.’

Speaking about Cowell’s own special genre of TV shows, Elton continued:

Elton John has reportedly turned down the chance to act as a guest judge on this year’s X Factor series.

Simon Cowell is said to have offered the ‘Your Song’ singer a spot on the panel while regular judge Dannii Minogue is on maternity leave, however he is said to disagree with the show’s ‘policies’ and so turned it down.

A source told The People: ‘He didn’t want anything to do with the show, despite its amazing viewing figures.

‘It would have been great for his profile, but he didn’t feel he needed the exposure.

‘And he disagrees with the show’s policies – he thought he’d have to be cruel to people who don’t deserve it.

‘If his job was to seek real talent and not put down the less talented, it would have been different.

‘Some people think it would be fun – but he can’t see the funny side of the role or the auditions.’

Geri Halliwell and Natalie Imbruglia have already guest judged at the Glasgow and Birmingham auditions, Katy Perry and Pixie Lott will appear later this month.

Despite turning down earlier offers, sources suggest that musical legend Elton John is close to signing a deal for American Idol 2011.

The ‘Candle In The Wind’ singer was asked to join the show, after Simon Cowell revealed that this will be his final season on the judging panel. Cowell wants to launch an American version of his X Factor show next year and Fox bosses are said to be keen to replace him with someone well respected in the music industry.

Elton is thought to have met with producers last week, while in New York for the Time magazine 100 gala in honour of the most ­influential people of the year. They are believed to have offered him more than the £22million a year that Simon Cowell commands.

One of the show’s 20 producers told The Express: “Everyone loves Sir Elton. As well as being outspoken, he has an air of gravitas as an icon of the music industry.

“He’s British too. Having Sir ­Elton on board would be a ­guaranteed ratings blockbuster all over the world.”

Another senior Idol ­insider said: “Part of the pitch to get Sir Elton on board was that the show can become an even bigger fundraiser for various charities. We’re barely more than a cat’s whisker away from getting ink on paper.”
