After the untimely and devastating death of Stephen Gately, it seems that fans are eager to get Boyzone back out on the road again. Radio station U105 today suggested, that many are already suggesting possible replacements.
Though I find the whole thing a little distasteful, front runners for the role on a few Boyzone fansites, are said to be former X Factor stars Eoghan Quigg and Shayne Ward.
X Factor singing sensation, Eoghan Quigg, is rumoured to have been dropped from his label, RMC, and bookies are already betting on who will snap up the young superstar.
Apparently the reason that RMC gave for releasing the young Dungiven man was because of poor sales of his debut album, self entitled ‘Eoghan Quigg’.
Paddy Power has also included a number of the giants in the music business as possible takers of the local X-Factor finalist.
Whether you know it or not, Eoghan Quigg was the most popular X Factor contestant of the 2008 series. The producers confirmed that Eoghan received the most phone votes in 6 of the live shows of the series.
Well, we recently had the chance to chat to Eoghan and find out what’s been happening since the rollercoaster of the X Factor ended in December.
Eoghan Quigg has revealed that he is “not sad” that the X Factor tour is finished and hopes he will now have some more time to work on his song writing skills.
The teenager told The Daily Star: “I’m not sad it’s finished.
“I write songs whenever I’m bored but the show didn’t inspire me to write anything.”
Eoghan Quigg is to become the first of last year’s X Factor contestants to release a single and his debut is titled 28,000 friends.
RCA are obviously hoping that Eoghan can tap into the online generation and the songs revolves around the whole MySpace/Facebook phenomenon. The opening verse goes :
X Factor singer, Eoghan Quigg will see his debut album released this March, just in time for Mother’s Day.
In recent years X Factor albums have been delayed for at least a year after the show ends, which worked well for singers like Leona Lewis who people actually wanted to hear, but acts like Leon Jackson crashed and burned after people lost interest and moved on to the next big TV attraction.
X Factor singer, Diana Vickers has landed a record deal with RCA, but only after being turned down by Simon Cowell’s label Syco.
Simon previously rejected Gary Barlow’s offer to sign Diana, but in the end decided to let her go to another label whilst he concentrates on the career of Alexandra Burke.
Despite failing to land a record deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco label after this years X Factor, JLS and Eoghan Quigg have managed to get a contract elsewhere.
Northern Irish teenager Eoghan has signed with the RCA label, while boyband JLS have been snapped up by Epic Records.
It seems that any hopes Eoghan Quigg may have had of a relationship with Diana Vickers have finally been quashed with the news that she and boyfriend Chris Jones are very much together.
Chris was said to be “furious” when pictures emerged of Diana and Eoghan kissing passionately and he split with Diana however, a source close to the couple have told the Daily Mail:
“Despite Diana’s hectic schedule, she made sure she spent time with Chris over Christmas. Read more & comment »
Former X factor contestant Ruth Lorenzo has jumped in on the are they, aren’t they scenario between Diana Vickers and Eoghan Quigg and said that she thinks they should definitely be dating.
Ruth told MSN:
“They are best friends, we always see them together, they’re always joking around or if one or the other misses their families.
“They’re the same age, same situation so they really get along. It would be so cute for them to be together,” she said.
Former X Factor contestant, Diana Vickers has denied all rumours that she is dating fellow singer, Eoghan Quigg.
Speaking to Heat magazine Diana claims that she is still with her boyfriend Chris Jones and that she has never cheated on him.
The 17-year-old said: “At the end of the day, I’m not a liar. I’ll tell him everything to do with me and Eoghan and I’d never cheat on anyone in my life. I know that people get hurt and I’d never do that to Chris.
On the X Factor final last Saturday night, Louis Walsh kindly offered Simon Cowell a two for one deal on boybands and brought both Boyzone and Westlife along to duet with the male finalists. Word is that Westlife were last minute replacements for Rihanna, but those rumours are as yet unconfirmed.
When we got the news I didn’t know whether to be glad or sad for Eoghan Quigg. He was to sing with Boyzone, who lets face it were never great vocalists. I wasn’t sure whether the boys would bring Eoghan down or whether he would spectacularly out-sing them making us realise that if Boyzone could be famous then young Eoghan was certainly able for the job.
