It was a massive hit for her, but the UK pop chart hasn’t heard much from Faith in a few years. So why’s her song suddenly back in the Top Ten?

Simple really – the tune was sang last week on the X Factor auditions show by Amy Connolly and the nation collectively went to iTunes and bought the song in their thousands.

The resulting sales shift skyrocketed the song to #4 in iTunes, also propelling the song to #10 in the UK singles chart this week.

I’d like to dedicate this post to all those snobs who told us that reality TV would never last. Not only are we at the end of roughly a decade of reality TV, but this news proves that X Factor’s reach and influence is huge. Not only can the show predictably take the Christmas Number One every year, but it can also revive a 7 year old song without the artist having to leave her mansion to promote it!

Surely the next step for the music industry is to bribe the show to feature their songs in auditions? Let’s face it, Westlife are obviously coining it from their back catalogue being played over every audition video.

View the original post How The X Factor got Faith Hill back in the charts on Unreality TV
