Reports suggest that the BBC will not be making a Celebrity series of Fame Academy for this years Comic Relief campaign, in fact if sources are to believed the Academy has closed its doors for good!

The celebrity version of the talent show aired on Comic Relief in 2005 and 2007, but a spokesman told the Daily Star that the Academy not coming back saying: “There will be a new show to replace it.”

I was wasting time on YouTube this afternoon and came across some old Fame Academy clips. I have attached some of my favourites below.

The clips made me think about how much I loved to watch the FA on BBC One. Friday night was Fame Academy night in our house and I loved watching the young peoples confidence and talent grow week after week.

The series allowed competitors to showcase their range of musical talents in a way that the X Factor never does. They could play instruments, write their own songs and performed in great group numbers and collaborations on most weekly shows.

I know that most of the finalists and winners have sank into obscurity, except for Lemar of course. But that may be less to do with lack of talent and more to do with the lack of a huge publicity machine and record company such as Simon Cowell can offer their ITV counterparts. After watching the video below of Alex Parks I really think she has ten times the talent than singers like Leon Jackson!

So what do you all think? Am I being completely and utterly dillusional, or would you too like to see the return of a ‘real’ talent show? One that relies less on sob stories and pretty faces and more on actual bonafide musical talent? Speak your mind here!

Celebrity Fame Academy winner, Tara Palmer Tomkinson has revealed that she will be suing her agent due to him withholding £300,000 from her.

A friend of Tara’s told The Sun:

“It has been an unbelievably stressful past few months for Tara and it has now all come to a head,” said a source close to the reality TV star.

“Remember she is not suing any old anonymous company, but someone she was once incredibly close to.

“It is little wonder that Tara’s behaviour might have been a little ‘off’ recently. But contrary to suggestions that she is back on drugs, it is simply the stress and strain of all of this that has caused her to act a bit weirdly.

“She has not spoken to Martine since legal proceedings began – in other words she went from seeing and speaking to Martine virtually every day to communicating to her solely through lawyers.

“But it is a matter of principle and Tara is torn between just wanting the case to be over and done with, and wanting back what she feels is rightfully hers.”

So how do you explain her madness the rest of the time then?

Tara Palmer Tomkinson and her posh family are to star in a new reality TV show, very much like ‘The Osbournes.’

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Tara’s family are fascinating bunch and quite eccentric.”

Cameras will follow Tara, her mother Patti, her author sister Santa and her banker brother James.

Anyone who saw her parents supporting her the live comic relief does Fame Academy show will know just how weired this show will be…they are a strange and kooky bunch!

What a shame….not! Angellica is a lovely girl, but a singer she is not.

Tonight BBC presenter Angellica Bell found herself in the bottom three acts for the THIRD time. After performing their song for a second time Ray Stubbs, Colin Murray and Angelica Bell faced the judges. Each judge chose a different contestant but Richard Parks vote carried and he saved Richard Parks. The students gave Angelica and Colin two votes each, so the decision went back to the public vote. Colin polled the highest and so he has remained in the Fame Academy and is one step closer to the final. Here’s hoping he has a better song tomorrow night!

Zoe Salmon has revealed that she was “surprised and disappointed” that Colin Murray voted her out of the Fame Academy house two nights ago and chose to save Angelica instead.

How could she be surprised? It’s a singing contest….she can’t sing. And she’s not his girlfriend, Colin already has one of those.

Oh the outrage, the controversy! Three people complained to OFCOM because Patrick Kielty called Colin Murray a “big gayer” for crying on stage.

Political correctness gone overboard…I think so!

Finally! She shouldn’t have survived the first round and thankfully she didn’t survive the second. Miranda Hart has been voted out of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, and while she might have been quite a character, she certainly couldn’t sing!

Actress Linda Robson, who also finished in the bottom three of a viewers’ vote, was saved by her fellow students.

Comic Mel Giedroyc, whose performance also failed to win over voters, was saved by the show’s judges.

Colin Murray has admitted to the Daily Record that although he would never embark upon a serious singing career, he would love to record and release a Christmas number one with his fellow Radio One DJ Edith Bowman.

Belfast-born Colin said: “If Edith wanted a wee shot at the Christmas No.1, I’d do that, just to spend a little bit more time with her.

“The offer is there. I’d have a go with Edith but I’m not looking for any serious singing career, even if I finished first which I don’t think I will.

“We could do Ebony And Ivory or Islands In The Stream.”

Now thats one Christmas single I would actually pay for!

The Evening Times has reported that Fame Academy student, Fred Macaulay, has been taking vocal training from RSAMD’s head of vocal studies Christopher Underwood. He hopes this will help him to perform well in tonights live show on BBC One.

If Saturday nights performance was anything to go by, I think he will need all the help he can get!
