Britain’s Got Talent Grandad Fred Bowers, has had his benefits cut after bosses saw him break dancing on his supposedly bad leg.
Fred has lost his £50 per week motability benefit after his appearance on the ITV talent show and may also be stripped of his £70 per week disability benefit depending on an investigation.
Fred told The Sun: “I’m not a benefits cheat. I just wanted to show elderly or disabled people can do something amazing. The pain in my leg doesn’t affect my dancing.”
We first saw Fred Bowers break-dancing about the Britain’s Got Talent stage and the dancing pensioner has since made it through to the semi-finals of the show. However Fred has managed to get himself into trouble with the Department for Work and Pensions as he is currently claiming Disability Living Allowance due to supposed problems with his left leg.
Pensioner “B-Boy” Fred Bowers has been ‘breaking it down’ for the past 5 years. He is properly hardcore, dancing the night away 7 days a week at clubs in town. ‘I’ll usually head out about 11.30pm and finish at 3 or 4am. It’s ok, I catch up on sleep with an afternoon nap.!’ The locals love him ‘I’m a Loughborough hero’ and he gets in all the clubs free and with queue jump. He says 1000s of people come to watch him and he has loads of fans. Fred first started break dancing after his girlfriend passed away 8 years ago: ‘I was very angry and one day threw myself down in a bit of a rage. I span around on my back and found I could breakdance.’ He has taught himself all the moves and works on new ones in his garden.
Proving you are never too old to go for you dream is 73 year old Fred Bowers from Loughborough. Fred appears on tomorrow night’s Britain’s Got Talent to show off his break dancing skills.
As Fred explains to Ant and Dec he took up break dancing five years ago and now busts his moves seven nights a week at the local nightclub where he is somewhat of a local legend! And it looks like Fred might become a Britain’s Got Talent legend as all the audience are up on their feet as Fred dances and tumbles around the stage and at the end of his performance even Simon gets up to give Fred a standing ovation declaring “this is why I love doing this show, because of people like you Fred, you were brilliant” and with Piers “diggin’ him” will Fred be getting three yes’s?
