The career of Cheryl Cole is going from strength to strength as a Girls Aloud source reveals that she is about to record some solo material.
Cheryl became one of Britain’s most popular women when she debuted as a judge on X Factor last year, she has since topped many polls and is thought to be seeking a career in America.
A Girls Aloud source said the group would “take time out” this year to work on solo projects from “music to acting to beauty to fashion”.
“Cheryl is going to work on some solo music – there is no release date set for this yet as she has not recorded any music,” the spokesman said.
“Her A&R people have approached various producers with the view to working with her.
Girls Aloud are to perform at next week’s Dancing on Ice semi final show.
The theme is wire week so the girls will be suspended from the ceiling whilst singing their latest single, Untouchable. Torvill and Dean perform their routine below them.
A source told The Sun: “Everyone’s really excited about getting Girls Aloud. It’s wires week so they’ll be suspended from the ceiling.”
Girls Aloud may be able to perform at this weeks wedding of terminally ill Jade Goody and her boyfriend Jack Tweed.
Sarah Harding, 27, told The Daily Star: “We have had contact from Jade’s people about performing at her wedding and now it’s in the hands of our management.
“We are desperately trying to re-arrange our schedule so we can do it. It’s a very sad thing to have to discuss.”
Girls Aloud are all set to perform their newest single, The Promise on next week’s X Factor live show.
It will be the first time that a judge on the show will perform as well as mentor and will no doubt help Cheryl’s credibility as she nudges her acts towards the shows final.
The 11 remaining acts will take on songs of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5….I wonder which unlucky soul will get Thriller?

UPDATE: Girls Aloud have since denied this rumour. They released a statement today saying:
‘The story is completely fabricated. As Girls Aloud, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle have become one fo the country’s best love groups,’ said a statement released this morning.
‘They have no desire to change the line up. Over the last six years they have scored a record breaking 17 top ten singles and performed three sold-out arena tours around the UK.
Girls Aloud, Britain’s biggest girl band, are reportedly planning to go all Pussycat Dolls and recruit a sixth member of their band through a reality TV show.
The five current members, including X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, will all sit on the judging panel of the show in which they audition hopefuls and grant one the chance to appear live on stage with the band.
A tv insider told The Mirror:
“The winner will get to perform with the group on stage during a one-off concert, but the girls hope they’ll be able to discover a hidden talent who could join the band as a fully paid-up member.
It kind of makes you wonder if one of the girls is planning to leave the group. Maybe Cheryl wants to become a TV judge full time, or maybe Nadine wants to move to LA and chase some more Hollywood actors.
Girls Aloud won’t be releasing a Christmas single this year, so as not to conflict with the X Factor winner.
New X Factor judge and Girls Aloud member, Cheryl Cole, has revealed that they have avoided bringing a track out this Christmas because if a “conflict of interests”.
She toild The Daily Star: “I wouldn’t do that to myself.
“No, we won’t be releasing a Christmas record. It will be just before.”
The girls have also revealed that they will be performing their new single on one of the X Factor live shows.
Britian’s biggest girl band, Girls Aloud, will be performing their new single on this years series of The X Factor.
At yesterday’s press launch, X Factor judge Cheryl Cole laughed: “Imagine how awkward it’s going to be for me!”
Simon teased her saying: “We’re going to move the desk forward so we’re very, very close to Cheryl when she performs that night.”
It will certainly be a little strange to see a judge from the show perform on stage, but it will lend Cheryl some credibilty that some of the other judges may lack (*cough* Louis *cough*). She certainly cannot be accused of not knowing what she’s talking about….it’s her career for goodness sake!
Cheryl Cole is said to have lined up her fellow Girls Aloud bandmates to mentor her acts on this years X Factor.
“Cheryl really wanted the girls to help her because they are all so close,” a source told The People. “She is over the moon they can play a part in her new project.
“And the girls are delighted for her and looking forward to passing their wisdom on to some new talent.”
