Gok Wan is a man after my own specky heart! Having discovered that large amounts of bespectacled children get bullied in the playground, style guru Gok is taking part in a campaign to make glasses cool.

A Specsavers survey found that almost half of glasses-wearing children suffer name calling, and a fifth are known to have skipped school to avoid the taunts.

So the How To Look Good Naked presenter is urging people to ditch their contact lenses and wear their specs with pride for National Glasses Day on Friday.

Gok is back with the first of two specials looking at some of his favourite transformations. He’s catching up with Lucy Govan, who 12 months BG (Before Gok) was a tomboy who lived in a horsy world where glamour was a four-letter word!

She felt fat and unfeminine and never ever got naked. With the help of some surprises Gok managed to get her naked on the catwalk runway. Twelve months later, Gok returns to make sure she’s not slipped back to her old ways, and he isn’t disappointed. Not only has she become a plus-size model, but she’s turned comedienne too!

Jamelia catches up with Gok in her hometown of Birmingham for a spot of retail therapy and to talk designer shoes, while Gok checks out her show-stopping frocks in this week’s Dirty Laundry. And after seven weeks touring the country in search of a style icon, Gok’s road trip comes to an end with the grand finale.

Gok Wan has admitted that he attends regular counselling sessions when he is filming for his hit Channel 4 show, How To Look Good Naked.

“When you’re filming a show like this and you’re dealing with women who hate their bodies, you need somewhere to let it all out,” Wan told The Mirror. “I’m not a doctor or a psychologist but I have to take it on as their friend, and I realised I was feeling quite stressed out with it.

“If you can imagine eight of your best girlfriends, all of them going through the most horrific time and needing you, and only you, it’s a lot to take on board. You become a sponge. Of course I do take it on because I care for them but I need to get rid of it as well. Read more & comment »

How To Look Good Naked presenter, Gok Wan, has revealed that he makes any of his job applicants clean his flats before he decides whether or not to hire them.

“It’s a really good way of finding out about that person’s sense of style as well as picking up on other skills they might have,” Gok told Take It Easy magazine.

“You can teach people to sew, set up a fashion shoot, send emails, deal with the media, but what you can’t teach is a sense of style. You’ve either got it or you haven’t, it’s as simple as that.”

Channel 4 style guru, Gok Wan, has admitted that he would love to get his hands on the cast of a British soap opera, and smarten the whole bunch up!

Ahead of his new C4 series launching next week, he said: “I would like to do a revamp of a soap. In America they are impeccably dressed. Over here they all wear the most awful clothes. I would like to get down and dirty with them and make them look like Hollywood starlets.”

Gok also revealed today that he has asked if he can get Brad Pitt for his new clothes show, due to launch this summer.

Gok Wan is to launch an all new clothes show this summer on Channel 4, and he has revealed that he would just love Brad Pitt to take part.

Teletext quotes him as saying: “I want Ryan Phillippe, Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt, as I think they’re all fit.

“I’m terrible, I’m letting my groin lead me on this. I’ve told the celeb booker who’s cute.”

Now I don’t want to dash any hopes here, but much as Gok may want to style Brad, I just don’t see it happening!

First he showed viewers ‘How to Look Good Naked’, but in June of this year, style supremo Gok Wan will turn his attention to how to look sensational fully clothed. Gok’s Clothes Show will be a weekly must-watch celebration of fashion on Channel 4, giving viewers a front-row seat to the best and mos up-to-date fashion advice.

What’s the ‘It’ handbag of the season? Which key pieces are crucial for that wardrobe update?What’s hot – skinny, flared, boot-cut or boyfriend jeans?

Each week, in front of an audience, Gok will show how to work the latest seasonal trend in two different ways – one with a designer price-tag, the other less damaging on the credit card. Each episode will culminate in a catwalk-off as the two teams – one led by Gok, flying the flag for the high street, and the other led by a designer – battle it out to win the audience’s vote on which look they’d actually wear.
