ITV has cancelled Marco Pierre White’s ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ saying that making the show is too expensive. The surly chef will be back on our screens but in a slightly adapted show titled ‘Marco’s Kitchen Burnout.’
Burnout will be much cheaper to produce. No longer will the apprentice chefs live together, nor will ITV build their own restaurant. Instead they will use a real London eatery and according to The Sun, celebrity guests will have to pay for their food.

The Guardian has claimed that Big Brother bosses have decided not to donate the usual 10p from every phone vote to charity this year.
The channel has donated money from its phone votes since 2006 but blames the significant drop in advertising revenue for the discontinuation of the scheme.
Channel 4 are claiming that the shows voting lines are actually losing money and no longer can they afford to bear the cost.

Anthea Turner has become the last celebrity to be sacked by Marco Pierre White on tonight’s Hell’s Kitchen.
Anthea was told to leave by Marco after he realised that she hasn’t changed or improved since joining his kitchen last week.
Left for the final night is Danielle, Aide, Linda and Niomi and who wins is down to the public vote. I’m backing Aide to win but who’s your favourite?

It appears that Gary Lineker is keeping a close eye on Marco Pierre White as he reckons the fiery chef may have “taken a shine” to his fiancé Danielle Bux, who’s one of the competitors in Hell’s Kitchen.
His fears weren’t allayed when he nipped into Marco’s kitchen to offer model Danielle a little moral support but was promply ordered out by Marco who told him to respect that Danielle “has a job to do”.
Gary did however manage to steal a quick kiss from Danielle before heading back to his table in the restaurant but he later said he feared the “grumpy” MPW had “an ulterior motive” for ordering him out of the kitchen… Read more & comment »

Anthea Turner’s husband Grant Bovey – who won praise from fearsome chef Marco Pierre White for his fish dish in the first show – has apparently been trying to earn extra brownie points by staying behind to do the washing up.
The Press Association reports that of the eight contestants, only three stayed behind after service to tidy up, and Grant’s wife Anthea wasn’t one of them. Grant said,
“When service finished three of us stayed behind to clear up” adding,
“The end of service came and there was such a relief that five people thought it was appropriate to down tools and go back to their quarters … something told me that Marco would be annoyed if you left your station like that.”
Wow, I wonder if Anthea’s back hurt his knife?? Read more & comment »

Cat Deeley is rumoured to be taking over presenting duties for ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen after Angus Deayton was sacked.
Angus was laid off last month after a series of arguments with the show’s chef Marco Pierre White. Show bosses are now said to have offered the role to cheesy ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ presenter Cat Deeley.
I’m not sure how I like their choice of talent. I have always found Cat Deeley a little creepy as a presenter. I hated watching American Idol when she presented their special UK only slot and she completely weirded me out on that silly kids version of Stars In Their Eyes in 2006. Surely ITV could have saved themselves a few pounds and someone funny for the job. Michael McIntyre would have been the perfect choice!

Angus Deayton has been axed from ITV’s reality TV show, hell’s Kitchen, after a string of rows with chef Marco Pierre White.
The Daily Mail newspaper reports that Angus and Marco spent all of the last series at loggerheads and show bosses were forced to choose between the two for the new series which kicks off this April.
‘Marco and Angus never got on and now Angus has been axed from the show,’ a source told the newspaper.
They added: ‘He [Angus] is seething but Granada realised they basically had to choose between him and Marco. At the end of the day, Marco’s the star of the show and the bigger personality.’

Celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay, has revealed that he tried to get ‘Posh Spice’, Victoria Beckham to appear on his last series of Hell’s Kitchen USA.
Ramsay told Access Hollywood: “I thought about having Victoria on as one of the ladies from Beverly Hills in [a] cooking lesson.
“She decided to tour with the Spice Girls. It was a shame because we missed each other by literally a week, otherwise…it would [have been] quite nice to see her attending one of the cooking classes in the kitchen with me breathing down her neck.”
Gordon also shed some light on his friendship with the Beckhams saying: “They’re great foodies. Victoria eats…in a very healthy manner, nothing over-drizzled with olive oil, fat, cream or butter and things lightly steamed. Read more & comment »

Runner up of this years Hell’s Kitchen programme, Adele Silva, has spoken out against the alledged homophobic remarks made by fellow chef, Jim Davidson.
“I’ve never witnessed a personal attack like Jim made on Brian – it was so wrong,” Adele told the News of the World. “There’s a lot of things that haven’t been seen. I know there were worse things he said than the shirt-lifter – stuff that wasn’t shown.
“He said to Brian in the kitchen, ‘Are you working on pastries because you’re a poof?’ and ‘Are you sleeping in the girls’ bedrooms?’ Why would he? He’s a man. Read more & comment »

Former boxing champion Barry McGuigan was last night crowned the winner of Hell’s Kitchen and he’s already got some thoughts about his culinary future.
“Mcguigan’s mash,” he laughed on GMTV this morning (Tues 18th), “I’m certainly going to do something. Mcguigans’s sauce maybe but we’ll see!”
“I would never do it again (go back into Hell’s Kitchen) but (I’m) definitely going to ring Marco and ask him for some classes so I can reinforce it.”
McGuigan pipped Emmerdale actress Adele Silva into second place. Both had said they were useless at cooking before the competition and Barry laughed that: “I’d never cooked a thing in my life and now (I) know all the names of the utensils in the kitchen.” Read more & comment »

Alan Titchmarsh has revealed that he turned down the chance to appear on ITV1’s Hell’s Kitchen as he didn’t like the thought of being swore at.
“I like to watch TV to be informed or entertained but I don’t find reality shows enjoyable. Television is such a young medium and they seem to tire of people easily,” Alan told The People.
“I sent Hell’s Kitchen packing very quickly. The prospect of walking into a kitchen so that Gordon Ramsay or the likes could swear at me doesn’t appeal at all. I don’t see any point in going on television just for the sake of going on television – I’m on to share my enthusiasms. Read more & comment »

Marco told The Sun: “I want them to be proud of me.
“I don’t cook at home really. My wife’s an excellent cook.”

Lee, who ate in the restaurant with his mum, said: “I don’t really regret things in life. It was a great experience, although it was short lived.
“But I stand up for what I believe in. I don’t regret anything. I stand by what I said. I didn’t walk out. I would have stuck it out but Marco asked me to leave and I did.”
Lee added: “I have no balls with Marco at all. Like I said when I first brought the issue up I respect him I respect the man he is and what he’s achieved. I haven’t got anything bad to say about him.” Read more & comment »

Abbey declared: “I’m never going to cook again, at least not for a while because I’m sick to death of food.”
