Inspired by the glitz and glamour of US style Prom Nights, High School Dance follows six groups of sixth form students from six different schools across the UK, as they are charged with organising a fabulous school dance. The students are given a budget of £5000 and are responsible for all aspects of their dance – from the theme and entertainment arrangements, marketing and promotion to overseeing the finances and sweeping up at the end of the night.
Tonight’s show features Harlington Community School in West London. The sixth form dance committee decides to hold a glitzy and glamorous Hollywood-themed night in the school, but competition is fierce among the performing arts students and rivalry for the best looking male has everyone racing for the ballot box. But with a committee undermined by a power-mad leader, behind the scenes bitching, teenage apathy and an obsession with bodypopping, will the night end in disaster?

Gone are the days of cringe-worthy High School Dances with teenagers embarrassingly dancing to cheesy tunes being played out of a solitary tape recorder in full view of the strict school ma’am who’s waiting to separate any students getting too close.
Inspired by the glitz and glamour of US Prom Nights, High School Dance follows a group of students from different schools across the UK as they are charged with the challenge of preparing and taking part in the most impressive, specially devised US-style high school prom.
The series will take an unadulterated peek at a cross-section of teen tribes in Britain today as they fret over their first loves, the politics of life at school and who to ask for the first dance? In the build-up to the main event, the ‘geeky’ boys will be transformed into school ‘Prince Charmings’ and the girls into potential ‘prom queens’ but how far will the students go to ensure they win the dancing competition on the night?
High School Dance will air on E4 this February. Check back here regularly for more details.
