Who would have thought that TV cleaning duo Kim and Aggie actually detest each other? On tonight’s I’m A Celebrity, Kim Woodburn admitted that she was secretly relieved when Channel 4 canceled How Clean Is Your House, because now she doesn’t have to see Aggie Mackenzie anymore.

The revelations came as she discussed with Colin McAllister her reasons for appearing on I’m A Celebrity.

She said: “I did it for about three reasons. I don’t know which is more important. I did it because they asked for me and I thought to myself, ‘A bit more exposure, millions of viewers.’”

Colin said: “The fact that you’re on your own, its not Kim and Aggie, its just Kim on her own.”

Kim continued: “When we finished this series in May, funnily enough I really wanted to go it alone now, I knew I did but they don’t want any more How Clean Is Your House but I’m very proud of that show. But I nurtured that show, I put my guts in and I was proud but after the fifth I said no more because,” Kim lowered her voice and added: “‘There’s problems,’ I said. ‘I can’t, I just can’t.’ I gave my soul for it, I was selling my soul keep doing it and even for the fifth, I was miserable with Aggie and when they approached me to come back . . . very pleased and I thought, ‘Ok…not…Aggie,’ And I wanted it you see, but I just knew.”

Sabrina, who had joined them by then, added: “Nothing at all?” Kim: “No, we never contact between series.”

Colin said: “That’s weird. Even if you were just being polite because it’s your bread and butter. Because you’re a partnership.”

Sabrina and Kim both told Colin how lucky he was to be in a personal and professional relationship with Justin. Kim said: “You two are totally secure but you’re unique.”

Aggie MacKenzie has said that the cancellation of How Clean Is Your House was ‘long overdue.’

Aggie, who appears in the show with I’m A Celebrity’s Kim Woodburn, said that she and Kim are surprised that the show went on for so long.

Aggie told MSN: “I’d say it was long overdue myself.”

She went on: “It’s so funny because when we did the first series we said, ‘oh my goodness they want another series of this!’ And then there was the third, and the fourth, and the fifth and the sixth, and the few in America and we thought, ‘it can’t go on for much longer’.

“Essentially it’s dirty house, clean house. You can mix and match what you put in between but after a while it’s ‘same old’ isn’t it really? I’ll miss it but you’ve got to move on and do other stuff.”

Channel 4 has axed Wife Swap and How Clean Is Your House? in a bid to shake up the channel.

Head of Channel 4 Julian Bellamy told The Guardian: “The decommission of Big Brother earlier this year has been the catalyst for a process of creative renewal right across Channel 4.

“When Wife Swap launched, it was a truly groundbreaking programme which heralded an era of new factual formats right across television.

“It was challenging, impactful and connected with a large mainstream audience. I am now looking to find new ways to challenge the mainstream through entertaining and provocative programmes.”

Bellamy added that the axing was a “creative decision on our part to make space for new ideas”.

I suppose that explains why ‘How Clean Is Your House’ star Kim Woodburn is appearing on I’m A Celebrity this month. She’s got to make her money somehow!

Spy cameras, high street naming and shaming and a raft of new science toys make this the boldest, cheekiest series yet.

In 2007, surveillance cameras reveal the full nature of the grime crimes. For the first time Kim and Aggie and their viewers can see how these mucky pups actually function in their own environment – brushing teeth over what looks like an open sewer of a toilet or preparing food in a crawling toxic environment: it’s not for the faint hearted! More than a few mice put in an appearance.

Aggie brings her own incentive to the cleaning in the form of a battery of new science tests and gadgets revealing everything from the levels of dust mite infestations, to the amount of energy generated by colonies of bacteria. There are still some video nasties of boils and carbuncles for those who need a little more encouragement to clean-up.

And anyone deluding themselves about the state of their home, is quickly put right when Kim and Aggie take them on to the high street to get their neighbours views on how they live….and the Great British Public doesn’t pull any punches!

Now Kim and Aggie are exacting a higher price from their domestic delinquents…. this time round there’s no shirking responsibility for putting things right. Blood, sweat and elbow grease is expected in direct proportion to the amount of muck they’ve made. For some it’s a trial that brings out the bully in Kim, others discover a long dormant clean gene and lead from the front.

Through the tears and trauma, the phrase “life-changing” is the one most often used when these filth offenders let Kim & Aggie through their front door.

How Clean Is Your House? first stamped its mark on Channel 4 in 2003. Kim and Aggie quickly established themselves as the nation’s favourite cleaning queens and their series have continued to attract more than three million viewers a week. Their unique approach of berating and ultimately rehabilitating some of the grubbiest householders in Britain has won a huge army of fans. Lemon juice and vinegar sales are a testament to their loyal following. More than 1,000 people applied to take part in series five, showing the nation’s appetite to invite the top grimebusters through their front doors continues to grow.

The show returns to Channel 4 on the 17th May at 8PM
