As we reported earlier this week, during last Saturday’s head-to-head battle for viewers between BBC1’s The Voice and ITV1’s Britain’s Got Talent, the latter won hands down after drawing an audience of around 11million while The Voice landed 7.7million viewers.
And though it had been reported that the BBC were moving The Voice to a later timeslot to avoid a clash with BGT, that didn’t happen last week, but it seems it will as of this weekend.
However, in the meantime, it’s been reported today that ITV executives have lifted the ban on BBC stars talking about The Voice on ITV shows. Read more & comment »

The rivalry between the BBC and ITV is of course at its height right now as both channels compete for viewers in the Saturday night slot with their respective shows, The Voice and Britain’s Got Talent…
However, it’s been reported today that ITV are “plotting to kill off” Strictly Come Dancing by launching a rival but similar series in the same timeslot.
To be entitled, Shall We Dance? ITV are apparently “convinced” that the show can knock SCD off the top of the viewer ratings list. Read more & comment »

Fans of I’m A Celebrity will no doubt recall that in the last series, contestant Charlie Brooks – who plays soap villain Janine Moon in EastEnders – was left devastated after she missed out on the chance to see her young daughter Kiki…
The drama occurred when Charlie and campmate Eric Bristow took part in a mini-challenge entitled Door to Door, for which they were given the choice of which coloured doors to open to reveal prizes.
7 year-old Kiki and Eric’s teenaged son James were behind one of the doors, but Charlie and Eric didn’t pick the correct colour… Read more & comment »

It’s been revealed today that ITV are decidedly unimpressed that the wages bill for this year’s X Factor judges could top around £6million…
Apparently Sharon Osbourne, who’s set to come back to the show after six years away will be paid between £1.5 and £2million, and returning judge Gary Barlow wants more than the £1.5million he was paid last year.
The Sun adds, “Nicole Scherzinger is holding out for a similar deal to Gary’s — plus benefits including flying her own stylist and make-up team over from the US.” Read more & comment »

Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli is of course known for being flamboyant and outspoken, and during an appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories tonight, he’s no different as he reveals he fancies former footballer Gary Lineker.
The show, which airs at 9pm on ITV1, will also see Bruno talking about his life and his career as a dancer and choreographer who’s worked with some of the biggest names in showbusiness, including the Rolling Stones, Freddie Mercury and Elton John. He even teaches Piers a few moves!
We’ll also see him speaking candidly about realising that he was gay during his childhood, and how his sexuality made him a target for bullies… Read more & comment »

Although new reality TV series Food Glorious Food is from the Simon Cowell stable, according to its presenter Carol Vorderman, FGF is a considerably more “gentle” show than X Factor.
Speaking to What’s On TV magazine ahead of the show’s debut on Wednesday February 27 at 8pm on ITV, former Countdown star Carol explained, “It’s different[to other shows] because we’re looking for the best home-cooked dish, rather than the best cook.
“This show is about people’s lives as much as it’s about food – many come with recipes that have been passed down through several generations of their family, and we hear their stories.” Read more & comment »

It’s been revealed today that as part of ITV’s efforts to revamp their frankly lame post-X Factor Saturday night line-up, iconic TV show Stars In Their Eyes is to be given a reboot and a revamp, and will be entitled, Your Face Sounds Familiar.
And despite the also frankly lame title, the show promises to bring back all the familiarity of the hit show Stars, with a modern-day twist.
Billed as “a cross between” the old Matthew Kelly show and The X Factor, ITV promises to add a “massive dollop of fun” when the show debuts later this year. Read more & comment »

Despite being panned by critics and some viewers early on in the debut series of ITV’s Splash! last night, some 6.6million of us tuned in to watch Jake Canuso, Linda Barker and Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards battle it out to become winner…
And of course, as fans will know, Eddie was victorious, but the viewing figures have been a shot in the arm for the show’s bosses, who are already planning the second series.
As we reported earlier however, ITV execs are reportedly going to revamp the show’s format, and could ditch current judges Jo Brand and Leon Taylor while appointing Tom Daley – who has of course been mentoring the celebs – to the judging panel. Read more & comment »

As we reported last week, ITV’s new reality show Splash! debuted to a strong viewing audience of around 6.3million, however, it was roundly slated by critics and viewers alike, so we of course wondered if those figures were set to decline this weekend…
Well, it seems not, or at least they haven’t fallen drastically – which I for one was expecting to be honest – as Entertainmentwise report that TVRatingsUK revealed this morning that at its peak last night, Splash! recorded an impressive 6.23million viewers.
Those figures once again made Splash! the most watched ITV broadcast for the second week running. Other ITV shows fared less well apparently, with 4.42 million of us tuning in to watch You’ve Been Framed while Take Me Out landed 4.37 million viewers at its peak… Read more & comment »
