Celebrity Big Brother: Jade Goody Does Interview FOR FREE!

Many people have wondered what Jade Goody would get paid for her first exclusive interview since leaving the house. Many figures were mentioned, Radio One’s Aled Haydn Jones even thought Jade would get in the region of one million pounds.

But in a move of PR genius, Jade has donated her interview fee from todays piece in the News Of The World to charity and has not profited from it at all.

Jade’s £50,000 fee will go to charity—along with every penny of her £50,000 Big Brother fee. The £100,000 total will be divided between good causes nominated by Shilpa and Jade.

In the interview Jade admits that many of her comments were indeed racist and that she, Danielle and Jo are guilty of bullying and intimidating behaviour. She stated:

“I hold my hand up to my comments and to people reading them or hearing them and thinking I’m a racist. I can understand why those words would look racist because I didn’t get on particularly well with Shilpa. It’s offensive to her and her culture. I didn’t think poppadom was a racist word. I now know that things that I may not think are racist can actually be racist. It’s my own fault for not knowing enough about other people’s cultures.”

When Jade was told that Shilpa has at one point said that she thought she was a victim of racism in the house Jade commented:

“She was a victim of bullying and racism, yes. I can understand why she would have said that.”

However Jade claims that she did not realise that she could be so intimidating, and blames a lot of her reactions to her past.

“My anger when I watched it on the screen shocked me. I didn’t like it. I didn’t know that my presence could be so intimidating or bullying.

I don’t want that, but I don’t know any other way to argue.

I’ve never blamed my past for anything I’ve done, but I don’t know any other way. My only way to argue is to shout—to get louder and louder so that I can’t hear what they’re saying.

It’s the way I am. I didn’t know it was a problem until I watched it. I don’t want people to be scared of me, or think that I’m intimidating.”

So what do you think? Do you believe that Jade is truly repentant or is she trying to wriggle out of the sticky situation that she has found herself in?

Celebrity Big Brother: What Did Jade Goody Mean By That?

I am just watching Celebrity Big Brother in which they are showing what happened in the house after Davina announced that Jade Goody would be leaving.

The housemates are discussing why there is no crowd outside and Jade has said that she knows why. She said “its because of what I said the other night”. The she went on to say ” I told them yes, but it must have got so bad that it had to be no.”

Maybe I am being completely stupid but is she inferring that Big Brother asked her if she wanted to face a crowd, or if she wanted to come out in secrecy…..Do I have my conspiracy theory head on tonight.

If you have an opinion or can shed any light on this please let me know over on OUR FORUM!

Radio 1’s Aled on Celeb Big Brother

I came across this blog entry by Aled from Radio 1’s Chris Moyles Show on the subject of Jade Goody and the racism row that she’s sparked off.

Aled makes some great points, which I hadn’t considered like the price of an interview with Jade going up as a result of there being no press conference the other night:

It’ll jar with most people, but Jade’s price for her story will have tripled from it’s already high figure for a tabloid paper now that they didn’t get a chance to interview her in the press conference. I know of “normal” BB housemates that have got a quarter of a million pounds for their story, and that’s without the celebrity angle let alone the whole circus of the last 7 days. She could now quite easily be looking at a £1 million interview. Hardly the start of the downfall of someone’s career! Whether they would want to take that cash for PR reasons is another matter. Woolworths incidentally yesterday announced that sales for Jade’s workout DVD have escalated on a daily basis during the last 7 days.

I’m shocked that her workout DVD is starting to sell better as a result of all this. Especially considering that she’s been caught out as having liposuction!

Celebrity Big Brother: Will Jade Goody’s Chat Show Go Ahead?

Big Brother have been looking after Jade Goody as best they could this weekend. She was evicted to no hateful crowd, she was given some warning in the house about what awaited her, the post eviction press conference was cancelled and now Jade has been whisked off to a secret safe house in the hope that the storm will blow over.

You could be fooled into thinking that the Channel 4 and Endemol bosses are worried about Jades safety and her personal wellbeing…but you would be wrong.

Endemols real reason for trying to make the current racism row concerning Jade Goody pass quickly away, is that they have plans to launch a new chat show with Jade as the host. In fact The Sun states that the company have already made a pilot and were planning to sell it when Jade emerged from the Big Brother house.

So what do you think…will the show still go ahead? Would you watch it? Be sure to let us know via our comments form or on our forum.

DISCUSS JADE GOODY’S EVICTION HERE!

The Unreality TV forum is buzzing tonight with everyone talking about Jade Goodys Celebrity Big Brother eviction and where she might go from here.

If you have a view to share on this or any other reality TV issue, come on over and speak your mind!

Surprise! Jade Goody Leaves celebrity Big Brother

Celebrity Big BrotherWell who would have guessed? Jade Goody has been evicted from the Big Brother house for the second time. The first time she left people were quite endeared by her silly behavior, this time Big Brother has had to get rid of the crowd and cancel the press conference for fear of the abuse that Jade was sure to receive.

The voting figures for tonights eviction have not yet been announced but I suspect they have been amongst the highest that Big Brother has achieved in recent years. The British people have acted in their thousands this week by writing to OFCOM, writing to Channel 4 and even writing to the police to complain about Jade’s racist behaviour. I assume that they have acted in their millions tonight to evict Jade from the Big Brother house and make her face up to the consequences of her actions over the last two weeks.

Jade is tonight emerging to a career and brand in shatters, a public who once supported her now despise her and she is known worldwide as a racist bully. Even I feel slightly sorry for her. I can only imagine how the next few weeks will be for Jade. She will have to hide away from the press instead of selling her story to the highest bidder and she will most likely spend the next year trying to justify the comments she made this week. I would not like to be in Miss Goody’s shoes tonight….and worse still her partner, Jack Tweedy, who should help her shoulder this burden is still incarcerated in the show that broke her, that won’t make things any easier.

Celebrity Big Brother: Are Jade, Danielle And Jo Representative Of Young People Today?

This article was written earlier today on our forum by Ruby Firecracker. We thought it spoke volumes and wanted to share it with all our readers. ENJOY!

The unfortunate thing about his whole sorry episode is that the three b***hes off CBB are actually a good representation of many young British girls…

Watching them, I am instantly reminded of girls I went to school with (all within the same sort of age group as Jade and co)… Aside from the racism issue, what is happening is the dominant girl (who is obviously resorting to dominanace/bullying because of her shortcomings) is leading her pack of inferior girls (ie. less famous in this situation) into targeting a member of the house who is easy to target because she is the least similar to them… This happens in schools and communities all over Britain all the time. It does not have to be about race.. anything that makes a person stand out, or different to the dominant ‘pack’ can trigger this behaviour.

The girls have targeted Shilpa because she is the least recognisable.. none of them know who she is. To the b***hy gang, she might as well be a punter off the street. They deem themselves as more important because they’d heard of eachother before, and some of them even suspect she may be a fake. They seek comfort by targeting her because of their own insecurities… to respect Shilpa as an artist is difficult for them because they are only famous for themselves, not their talent or work (or at least, not work of any artistic credibility)

Jade and co have twisted Shilpa’s words to justify their awful behaviour.. saying sorry isn’t good enough. This behaviour is unacceptable in any circumstances, and should not be tolerated, as it would not be in any British workplace. I do not particularly like Shilpa, but in any case, it is never justifiable to attack people, especially over petty issues.

Danielle came into the house saying she wanted to show people a ‘different side to her’.. well done Dani… you’ve shown a public who were indifferent to you that you are a silly, easily led little idiot, who will form her opinions based on those of the dominant member of the group, and try to make amends quietly behind your ‘friends’ backs… and then backtrack !!

Watching this reinforces why my friends are in their 30s - 60s (I am 24) and why I have chosen to lose contact with my peers from school. This sort of behaviour is terribly common, and I myself exerienced a similar situation with a dominant girl and her gang at school.

I work with many young people who come from Africa who have spoken to me this week about their bewilderment and disgust at this behaviour… I am proud to be a young person who does not follow the pack, and at the same time, I am sad that my peers do not do the same. I was brought up in a racist family in a BNP area, moved to a predominantly Asian area of Birmingham aged 18 of my own accord, and found friends, culture and understanding.

There is NO excuse for ignorance.. These girls are a disgrace.

The only good thing that can come of this is that Jade Goody fades back into obscurity… she has NO endearing qualities and NO talent.

Thanks for reading!
Love

Crowds Banned From Celebrity Big Brother Eviction

Celebrity Big BrotherTonights Celebrity Big brother eviction will be a quiet affair, as Channel 4 have told the ticket holders who were attending the event that they would not be granted entry.

After a week long row over racist comments in the house, it is thought that Jade Goody will be leaving tonight and Big brother think it would be unsafe and unfair for jade to emerge to such a hateful reaction.

In a statement today, Channel 4 stated:

“Over the past few days, Celebrity Big Brother has generated an intense and, at times, heated public debate which the evicted housemate will be unaware of.

â€?As a result, Channel 4 and Endemol have taken the decision to conduct tonight’s eviction in front of a studio audience and without a crowd.”

Ticket holders for tonights show will be invited to next weeks eviction instead. Pity…I would have liked to see Jades face when she realised how wrong she had been to go back to the show that made her famous.

Celebrity Big Brother: Jade Goody’s Supporters To Burn Shilpa Shetty Effigies

Jade Goody supporter Mark McGowan has stated on his website today:

Supporters of Jade Goody are to meet up this Saturday 20th jan 2007 at 11am outside Bermondsey tube station where they will be voicing their support of Big Brother contestant Jade Goody. Effigy’s of Shilpa Shetty will be burned, in aprotest against allegations of racism, which the supporters of Jade Goody believe are totally unfounded.
Mark McGowan one of Saturdays event organisers said, ‘everyone in south London is behind Jade. i think what they are doing is wrong Jade is a good person and is in no way racist, we support Jade 100%, Shilpa Shetty is manipulative and is tricking everyone, she is the cause of all this trouble. We are going to burn the effigy’s in protest, Simon Ould another of our group is making them tonight. We want everyone from Bermondsey to turn out and show their support for Jade’

I really hope that no one shows up….These people are not doing this to support Jade, rather I would wager that these people are hungry for the media attention they are sure this will attract. Organiser Mark McGowan has very often demonstrated in weird and wonderful ways before.

Wikipedia reports:

He entered the headlines in 2004 whilst protesting about student debt. To achieve this he claimed to have rolled a peanut from London’s Goldsmiths College to 10 Downing Street using only his nose. He followed this up by sitting in a bathtub full of baked beans with chips up his nose and sausages around his head, claiming to be the defender of the full English breakfast. His next effort involved pulling a bus with his big toe in protest at London’s transport strategy. He has also cooked and eaten a fox to highlight the plight of “crackheads”.

In April 2005 McGowan once more gained publicity after being accused of ‘keying’ cars in a number of cities, a practice involving the scratching of cars using a key. This attracted the attention of the police, though McGowan defended his actions in a television interview on Channel 4 News by stating that his actions had become “compulsive-obsessive” and that “I [McGowan] suppose it’s like a social experiment testing why people do it.”

He was back in the news in July 2005 for his installation “The Running Tap”, where he left the water running in the backroom kitchen of a London gallery to protest leakage problems with London’s private water company, Thames Water. His installation wasted 9,200 gallons of water a day, and if left on for a full year as he intended, would have wasted 3.9 million gallons of water and cost $23,320. It was turned off several times by protesters of the protest. He turned the tap off for good on 29 July following threats of legal action from the water company.

From Boxing Day, 2005 to January 6, 2006, McGowan crawled on all fours from London Bridge to Canterbury Cathedral. He pulled 18 boxes of chocolates on strings attached to his arms and legs and carried a sign saying: “Could you love me?”. This is to highlight the loneliness felt by some around Christmas time.

In November 2006 McGowan performed Dead Soldier 2006, on New Street, Birmingham, where he lay down in the road dressed as a soldier for one week.

In January 2007 vegetarian McGowan tucked into a swan outside an art gallery in London’s East End. McGowan was protesting about the upper classes and the Queen.

This latest protest hardly sends out a positive message to ethnic minorities who already think that Britain is crawling with bigoted racists! Give it up Mark would you?

Celebrity Big Brother 2007: Jade Goody Receives Indian Invite

Celebrity Big BrotherIn an advertisement placed in several of today’s national newspapers, including the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph, the India Tourism Office has invited Jade Goody to visit India once her stay in the Big Brother house ends.

In the advertisment the office takes the opportunity to boast of India’s “bustling cosmopolitan cities”, “snow-clad mountains” and “long sandy coastlines”.

The open letter “to Jade Goody and friends” reads: “Dear Jade Goody. Once your current commitments are over, may we invite you to experience the healing nature of India.

“Being one of the world’s oldest civilisations, our land is one where the ancient and the modern co-exist and a multitude of religions live in harmony.”

It continues: “As a beauty therapist, you may be especially interested in visiting one of the many spas where you can cleanse your stresses away, enjoy yoga in the land that invented it and experience Ayurvedic healing which promotes positive health and natural beauty.”

I hope they aren’t offering her an all expenses paid trip to the country…that really would be one step too far.

Celebrity Big Brother: Shilpa Shetty Is Tricked Into Retracting Racism Claim

Shilpa Shetty - Celebrity Big BrotherShilpa Shetty was called to the diary room yesterday when Big Brother asked her if she thought Jade Goody and her pals had been displaying racist behaviour towards her. The conversation went something like this:

Big Brother: Shilpa, you mentioned you were not happy 2 days ago, BB noticed that you had a conversation with Cleo in the bedroom following an argument with Jade. You implied that you thought the differences between the two of you could be racially motivated?

Shilpa: No actually I take that back. I thought it was cos everybody was having an argument with me and I take that back. I don’t think that is true, you know people say things in a fit of anger and erm, I stand corrected so, I don’t want people to think and feel that way and I continue to feel that way. So even if I said it I would like you to please clarify and put this as a statement from my side if you can. That I don’t feel there was any racial discrimination happening from Jade’s end. Erm, I don’t think that is true. That’s it. I think that there are a lot of insecurities from her end but it’s definitely not racial. So yeah, that’s the way I feel.

So there you go Big Brother has cleared its name…or has it? Did they inform Shilpa of the snide and racist comments made behind her back? Does she now know that Jade has been calling her Shilpa Poppadom? Does she know that Danielle wishes that she would “f*** off home” and sneered that “she can’t even speak English properly”. Is Shilpa aware that Jo OMeara has mimicked her Indian accent, refused to eat food Shilpa has touched and claimed Indians are skinny because they get sick through eating undercooked food.

No, Shilpa is blissfully unaware off most of the nastiness that has been going on behind her back. She is in no position to decide whether or not their is racist behaviour being displayed in the Big Brother house as she is not privy to all the information. This was Channle 4’s way of weaseling out of their responsibility to put an end to the atrocious racism that is rife in the Big Brother house. Hopefully with the departure of Jade Goody from the house tonight, the problem will be taken out of their hands.

Celebrity Big Brother Racism Claims: Channel 4 Responds

At a press conference today at the Oxford Media Convention 2007 Andy Duncan, Channel 4’s Chief Executive, made the following statement:

“In the seven years it has been on air Big Brother has seldom been far from the headlines.

The reason it commands so much attention, intentionally or unintentionally, is that it goes to the heart of who we are as individuals and as a society.

The latest series of Celebrity Big Brother has strayed into particularly controversial territory – the issue of racism and whether or not it remains ingrained in British attitudes despite all the progress we have apparently made towards becoming a truly multi-cultural society.

The level of complaint and comment shows the programme has touched a real nerve.

The debate has been heated, the viewing has at times been uncomfortable but, in my view, it is unquestionably a good thing that the programme has raised these issues and provoked such a debate. These attitudes, however distasteful, do persist – we need to confront that truth.

What constitutes racism is a complex question. We have been monitoring extremely carefully events in the house and have reached the view that we cannot with certainty say that the comments directed at Shilpa have been racially motivated or whether they stem from broader cultural and social differences.

We have already intervened with Danielle and, as viewers will see tonight, again with Jade where we felt their comments might be construed to have racist overtones. Producers also spoke to Shilpa today who said she did not feel that behaviour towards her was racist.

We will not hesitate to intervene again if apparently racist behaviour occurs.

Big Brother’s unique strength is that it is ultimately the public who will decide whether or not the behaviour of certain contestants has been unacceptable.

Tomorrow night Jade and Shilpa will face the public vote. The British public has the opportunity to cut through the claim and counter-claim and pass its judgement on the events of the last week.

In the last 25 years Channel 4 has undoubtedly played a major role as a broadcaster to inform and educate viewers about issues of race. This is a role that I intend Channel 4 to continue playing.

I think much of the problem will be taken out of Big Brothers hands tomorrow night as no doubt Jade Goody will be evicted from the show. Without Jade, I imagine the others will flounder and will lack the bravery to stand up to Shilpa themselves. At that point I think an uneasy truce will be reached as Danielle and Jo try to reintegrate back into the main group.

I am glad that the end of this episode is in sight, by the sound of Andy’s statement above, Channel 4 have no intention of intervening. Hopefully within the next 48 hours, Jade will be out and we can be left to enjoy the final week of Celebrity Big Brother in relative peace.

Celebrity Big Brother: Let Us Stop All This Nonsense

This article was written by Evelyn Lewis.

Let us put an end to all this nonsense.

As I am neither British nor Indian and not a racist, I feel free to write from the heart without having to tip toe around… A lot has been said about three girls in the BB house, who have offended Shilpa (were they supposed to keep quiet and let her treat them any way she liked, as she did her fair share of screaming insults, swearing and abusing and over trivial things like chicken cubes).

It has been pointed out that Shilpa Shetty and Jermaine Jackson are guests and from foreign countries (earning a lot of money and by going into BB, agreeing to be ‘just another housemate’ with the advantage of being famous for something they have achieved in their lives) then surely their behaviour should be better towards their British inmates who are representing the host country, the country that has kindly invited them and as I have said, allowed them to make a lot of money, which they will be taking out of the country.

Instead they have as good as called the British subjects in the Big Brother house, white trash and beneath their class. Because you are a celebrity it does not make you any better than the next person it just means you have been fortunate enough to have a gift which has worked for you. Now here we have three British subjects having their reputations and futures destroyed, in their own country, for playing the BB game as they have seen it played in the past.

Be fair it is a BB production where anything goes to win (look at past episodes) with some playing harder than others. India must be complimented for their loyalty but it would be nice if they could look at both sides of the coin. As I have said before, I would not like any of the five involved in all the unpleasant goings on in the house, to win, as they have all behaved very badly but there are some well behaved people left in the house, for example Dirk Benedict and especially Chloe Rocus who has not had a bad word to say about anyone.

On the issue of racist behaviour. It goes both ways. There are whites who have been murdered for their religious beliefs in some non-white countries, well it has not come to that in BB but three young British women have had their reputations and future ‘murdered.’ Forget colour and culture and see this for what it is JUST ANOTHER BIG BROTHER COMPETITION AND PLEASE BE FAIR TO ALL.

Celebrity Big Brother 2007: Nomination Spoiler…Be Warned!

Celebrity Big BrotherThere has been anapparent leak at Big Brother headquarters and the Media Guardian claims to have found out which housemates are up for eviction this week.

The two housemates who were nominated are reportedly Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody….I wonder who will go eh?

In case you didn’t know, here at Unreality TV we are backing Shilpa Shetty to win….so get voting!

Celebrity Big Brother: Shilpa Shetty Obtains World Wide Support!

Shilpa Shetty - Celebrity Big BrotherIt seems as though the world is divided into two camps today. Those who believe that Shilpa Shetty is not a victim of bullying or racism, and those who would like are disgusted and disappointed by the antics of three girls who should know better.

I have to say that while our contributor Evelyn falls into the first camp, I really believe that Danielle Lloyd, Jo O’Meara and Jade Goody are completely in the wrong on this occasion. In a small way I do pity them, I can only imagine how they will be received by the public when they exit from the house. I can see this episode damaging their careers for years to come.

The only people that seem to be staying quiet on this issue are The Big Brother team themselves. It is obvious that both Russell Brand and Dermot O’Leary have been warned to avoid the topic at all costs…..not an easy task when John McCririck is a guest on your show. Channel 4 have issued very bland and non-committal statements saying that they believe the girls behaviour is not racist but just female bitchiness…or words to that effect. But anyone can clearly see that if not being racist, then the girls are definitely bullying Shilpa out of envy or jealousy. Either way they need to be warned that it is not acceptable.

Shilpa may not have many friends in the Big Brother house, but her popularity has soared out in the real world. There have been protests held in India today by her fans, who burned effigies of Big Brother bosses, and slightly more frighteningly, the show’s producers, received two emails that made threats towards a number of the housemates and police have confirmed that they are investigating. Thousands of people have complained to OFCOM about the racist behaviour they have witnessed and many more thousands have also been signing petitions aimed at Channel 4.

Shilpas plight even made it into the world of politics today when Prime Minister, Tony Blair, spoke out against racism in the House Of Commons. Chancellor Gordon Brown also spoke made a statement about the racism row whilst in India today.

I predict that Shilpa Shetty will no doubt have the last laugh in this whole saga. We are backing her to win, but even if she doesn’t, her fame has now spread worldwide. She will be known for her maturity and her dignity, while the other three would be well advised to creep away and hide for a few months until people forget how hateful they really were.
