Jamie Pugh has landed his first record deal.

The former pizza delivery driver won the respect of many viewers, when he appeared on the 2009 series of Britain’s Got Talent and refused to use the story of his wife’s tragic death to win sympathy on the TV show.

Jamie’s wife Tracey died from a brain tumour ten years before, leaving Jamie to raise his three year old son Callum alone.

After he auditioned with West End classic ‘Bring Him Home’, Jamie made it as far as the semi finals of the ITV show and in an update on his official website today, it was revealed that the Welsh singer will finally be releasing his debut album this year.

The statement says:

“Jamie Pugh is now working with Music Wales Ltd., Wales’s biggest music company. His album, entitled Bring Him Home, is currently being recorded with the Welsh Television Orchestra and will be released worldwide on May 2.”

Jamie always knew that he had a voice but wasn’t sure what to do with it or how to develop it. He has been dealing with nerves his whole life and when he started singing he would only sing warm up notes to his music teacher.

Jamie feels that its crunch time for him, he needs to know if he is really good or not because although his family say he has a great voice he wants to know what people in the industry think. He feels ready for the challenge of performing in front of an audience and says that he is going to just blank them out when he is performing and go to the place that he goes to when he is singing.

Jamie lives with partner Donna and their four children.

So rumours are abounding that we have been played yet again by a person on a reality TV show.

Jamie Pugh appeared on last week’s Britain’s Got Talent and claimed to have never sang in front of an audience before. He also claimed to be suffering from severe stage fright.

However The Sun reports today that Jamie has performed in London’s Wet End before and made a very good job of it.

A member of the audience at Jamie’s show in 2006 said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw him on Britain’s Got Talent saying he had never performed in front of an audience before.

“I remember his performance going down really well — and he didn’t look like he was suffering from stage fright then.”

Jamie has defended himself saying that he didn’t perform at the theatre alone, he said:

“I have previously performed as part of a group but I never sang alone. It didn’t go that well.”

Britain’s Got Talent singer Jamie Pugh has revealed that he nearly left his judges audition due to severe stage fright.

Pugh wowed the judges with his performance of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. He got three Yes’s from them and has even won the support of Hollywood A Lister Demi Moore.

Pugh told The Mirror: “I wanted to go home. I didn’t sleep for three days before and I’m now on 40 fags a day.

“This is going to sound really weird – I fear success but I don’t fear failure. I’ve failed at a lot of things and I fear success because I’m Jamie. I’ve got to appear on a TV show and I’m dreading it.”

He added: “I’m a wreck – I’m not a star.”

His 35-year-old partner Donna Davies said: “When Jamie wanted to walk out of the audition I threatened him with divorce – well not quite because we aren’t married. But I said, ‘You have to do it. Go for the ride and see what happens.’”

“It was a wicked thing to happen, it was unbearable.

“Tracey would be proud of me, but everybody has a history and I chose not to dwell on it.

“Things like this devastate millions of families.

“It’s like Daniel Evans in last year’s X Factor. People latched on to him because of his sob story. I don’t want that. It’s not what this competition is about.”

I, personally, admire Jamie’s attitude to this issue and wish we had more people like him. Daniel Evans from last years show did not exploit his back story, but many have. Let’s hope that Jamie’s approach to the competition wins him plenty of votes and sees him win a place in the final this month.

Demi Moore has to be Britain’s Got Talent’s biggest celebrity fan, that or she’s just trying to get some free publicity off the back of the show.

The Hollywood star, 46, posted Jamie’s Pugh’s performance on Twitter, with the message: “So moving.

Teary again, wow!” In another message she called him “amazing”.

Britain’s Got Talent bosses are said to be tipping pizza delivery driver Jamie Pugh as Susan Boyle’s major competition.

Jamie wowed on tonight’s show with his version of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, winning praise from all three judges on the panel.

An insider told the Daily Star: “People have dismissed this as a one-horse race but Jamie proves this isn’t the case.

“He was incredibly nervous but has a fabulous voice. He gave a real tearjerking performance. Like Susan he’s just an ordinary person with an incredible talent.”

The auditions move to Cardiff on tomorrow night’s Britain’s Got Talent, and one man waiting backstage is more nervous than most of the acts. Jamie Pugh, a 37 year old Warehouse worker and pizza delivery driver from Gwent, hasn’t slept in three nights and he’s worried his nerves might just prove too much. As he explains, “I suffer from severe stage fright, it has totally crippled me, and I’ve come today to see if I can get through 3 minutes.”

Performing in front of the live audience and Judges is miles away from Jamie’s day to day job, “in the day time I work three days a week driving a van and in the evenings I deliver pizza. I’m just a simple bloke from the Valleys, but my dream is to sing at the Royal Variety in front of a live orchestra”. But Jamie’s biggest worry is walking out on stage and freezing, but with partner Donna watching on helplessly in the audience its time to see if Jamie can finally conquer his stage fright.

Singing Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, Donna, his proud partner is up on her feet in the audience looking emotional as Jamie starts his faultless and emotional performance. All three Judges look spellbound and at the end of the song the whole theatre is on its feet, bringing tears and a look of shock to Jamie’s face.

The Judges give their verdict: Amanda, “it is a beautiful song and that was amazing.” With Piers adding “I wasn’t expecting that kind of performance from you. You deliver pizza’s at night for goodness sake and you come on this stage, one of the biggest talent shows in the world and do a performance like that, I thought it was incredible.” And Simon adds, “I think I just got how important the last 3 mins of your life just were, and to get the reaction you just got from the audience must be unbelievable. It’s people like you the reason why we come to Wales every year, I think you could be a special talent, but you have to start believing in yourself”

A shell-shocked and emotional Jamie walks off stage saying, “for this brief moment I feel complete”.
