Jason Donovan has been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The Australian star made it all the way to tonight’s final show in Blackpool, but after an amazing showdance and a tango, he received the lowest amount of public votes and was voted off in third place.

It looks like the bookies were spot on with their predictions about the competitive family man!

On hearing the news, Donovan told Bruce Forsyth:

This has been the most incredible experience – other than my children and my wife – in my life. I want to thank the public for voting for us, we’ve come so far. I want to thank my family, I might get emotional here because they have been here the whole way through…through the ups and the downs. To Kristina who has been so patient, who has remained focused and has one of the most incredible talents and visions, I will never, ever forget this journey….thank you.

The elimination means that McFly star Harry Judd and Waterloo Road actress Chelsee Healy go on to fight it out for the winner’s title. They now go head to head in their bid to become the 2011 Strictly champion and the result will be announced in forty minutes time, after they perform twice more.

Our elimination prediction: Earlier today on Twitter, I published my prediction for the elimination order. My gut feeling is that it’s going to be a win for Harry Judd tonight. Jason Donovan will be eliminated first, and Chelsee Healey will be a very deserving runner-up. I think much of this will be down to the McFly fanbase, but if Chelsee Healey continues with the same level of improvement as recently, she may well outperform Harry. However, since the public vote is everything in tonight’s show, Harry Judd could spin around the floor on his butt and still win.

The show kicks off with a gladiatorial dance by the professional dancers to Bon Jovi’s Living On a Prayer. And the show wastes no time showing what a ratings success it’s been this year. Quite right too. I find when a rival show like X Factor becomes overwrought and exhausting to watch, it’s refreshing to watch a show where there’s no agenda being crammed down your throat week-on-week.

Harry Judd and Aliona: Harry’s up first, dancing a quickstep to The Pretenders’ Don’t Get Me Wrong. It’s poised and professional and fast-paced. And it ends with a nice little air-drumming move from Harry. Len Goodman likens tonight to “The Battle of Blackpool” and tells Harry that he came out all guns blazing. Alesha Dixon calls it “a very strong start” while Bruno Tonioli raved about Harry’s “timeless elegance”.

Scores: Craig: 10, Len: 10, Alesha: 10, Bruno: 10 Totals: 40

Jason Donovan and Kristina:Ah, the feather dance! We can’t criticise the dayglo pink they’re wearing, because  that’s our colour! Brilliant to see a more entertaining dance set to a fast-paced version of I Will Survive, and Jason and Kristina danced it brilliantly. Alesha told Jason that he excelled and gave a joyful tango! Bruno described it as a “tango with split personalities”, but loved it overall. Craig gripes that Jason’s bottom was “sticking out”, but praises the number and Donovan’s hard work. Len points out that Jason’s much older than his rivals tonight, but matches them for energy.

Chelsee Healey and Pasha: Reprising her brilliant Shrek-themed dance from a fortnight ago, Chelsee’s chosen the right routine to showcase how well she’s come along since the beginning of the show. And quite rightly too – she was a complete unknown at the start of this show and now she’s a serious contender. I love her bubbly personality and the fact that she seems to be just a normal girl…who dances almost as well as the professionals! An excellent, fun-packed performance from Chelsee tonight! Bruno calls it a “premium grade jive”, and even Craig is buzzing with positive comments. Len Goodman notes that Chelsee had no dance experience before this show, and Alesha calls it her “favourite jive of the series”.

It’s the midpoint of the show, and Harry Judd’s leading the field so far. Though if we’re honest, people aren’t happy that Jason and Chelsee got lower marks. The standard is incredibly high this year, and many people think Jason and Chelsee were equally good.

Harry and Aliona: Performing a showdance to Great Balls Of Fire seems apt. If I was dancing with Aliona that’s what I’ve have too. Judd’s showing off the right amount of flesh to secure the phone vote. Although apparently McFly have promised to strip naked if Harry wins tonight. The duo give a fantastic performance, acrobatic and energetic in all the right places, with flips and lifts and Harry finishing off ON THE DRUMS. Alesha said some of the lifts bordered on dangerous, but loved the excitement, while Len and Craig compliment Harry’s talent. There are some criticisms about how much more smooth the routine could have been, but on the whole, the judges loved it.

Jason and Kristina: Jason wants to take full advantage of the “no rules” element of tonight’s showdance, so he’s going to be throwing the kitchen sink at it tonight. He’s dancing a salsa tonight, and like Harry Judd, the routine is laced with exciting lifts and flips. You know what? I think Jason edges it over Harry for pure showmanship. Kristina discards her costume for something a touch more skimpy along the way and the two collapse on the floor at the end. Brilliant routine. Alesha tells Jason that if it was a marathon, he’d have won already while Bruno calls it a “showbiz extravaganza”. Craig describes it as “ferocious and full on”, which we know is amazing praise and Len tells Jason that he’s a showman.

Scores: Craig: 10, Len: 10, Alesha: 10, Bruno: 10 Totals: 40

Chelsee and Pasha: Chelsee comes out looking like a bargain basement Beyonce to One Night Only. I want to like. The energy is there, but the finesse is not. It’s a rambunctious, energetic affair, but not as smooth as it could be. Which is disappointing, because I’d hoped Chelsee would squeak an all-10′s score on her last dance. Bruno notes a few rough edges in the performance, but Craig compliments the lifts especially for the danger element. Len compliments the “elements of hustle” and says all the finalists have given their all tonight. Alesha Dixon finishes by saying that Chelsee was set free and that she dances with her heart.

So the Strictly Come Dancing final starts in less than an hour and want to know who you are backing to win.

The bookies think Harry Judd can do it, however unbelievable as it might seem, in terms of his dancing he hasn’t been the clear cut winner throughout the series. Chelsee Healy and Jason Donovan have both topped the leaderboard 4 times, while– Harry has only done it 3 times.

In terms of accumulative scores though he has triumphed as Harry & Aliona have racked up 421 points, followed by Chelsee & Pasha with 417 points and Jason & Kristina on 413.

Frustratingly Harry has missed the elusive perfect 40 on three occasions, with his Quickstep, Viennese Waltz & Charleston all finishing with 39 points. Craig is the only judge yet to score him with a 10.

Chelsee and Jason last week became the first celebrities to get a perfect 40 in this series.

The stars are tuning into Strictly but it doesn’t seem that they can agree on who is set to win this weekend.

Jason Donovan, Harry Judd and Chelsee Healy will go head to head in the Blackpool Ballroom tomorrow night and Jo Joyner admitted that she is backing the former Neighbours star.

She said:

“What I love about Jason is that he is clearly a very good actor. When he gets a dance he can really get his head into, like the salsa, he gets into character and he’s all macho and it really works for him.”

Pixie Lott is getting behind the Australian too and explained:

“He just puts so much into it, loads of people love him for that.”

Meanwhile, Graham Norton is getting behind McFly star Harry Judd. He said:

‘I’d quite like Harry to win, because what a fabulous year for McFly!”

Chris Evans added:

“I do actually think he’s going to win. That boys is a natural…his lines…when he puts his arms and legs out they are so straight.”

Vernon Kaye is backing Waterloo Road actress Chelsee Healy for the win and commented:

“Chelsee has done me proud. She’s come so far. Her personality, her character has really shined through on the series this year.”

Jason Donovan is so desperate to win Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, that he won’t allow his partner Kristina Rihanoff to take a day off, it has been claimed.

Tess Daly told The Sun that the Australian star is among the most competitive she has ever seen and is so keen to perform well when he competes against Jason Donovan and Chelee Healy in Blackpool, that he is ever rehearsing on a Sunday, the dancers’ usual day of rest.

She said: “He has been in it to win it since week one.

“He’s so committed he even begs partner Kristina Rihanoff to train on Sundays, usually the dancers’ only day off.

“He absolutely loves the whole Strictly experience and admits it has been life-changing for him.

“He has lost so much weight and has never felt fitter. He told me training is like a fitness boot camp and that he loves every second of it.”

However bookies think that Jason’s air of desperation is putting voters off and despite being an early favourite to win the competition, he is now seen as the outsider, with Harry Judd tipped to take the glitterball trophy in a few days time.

Meanwhile, Harry has been getting support from his McFly bandmate Dougie Poynter. The bassist only arrived back in the UK a matter of days ago, after winning ITV’s I’m A Celebrity in Australia. On his return, he headed straight down to Judd’s dance rehearsals to show off his crown and big him up before Saturday’s final.

Jason Donovan looks to have paid the price for taking Strictly Come Dancing too seriously and bookies have now lengthened his odds of winning on Sunday to 16/1, having been as short as 5/2 earlier in the series.

“Despite being in the final three and getting a perfect score, Jason has never been a longer price to win.

“Strictly viewers are of the opinion that it is the taking part that counts not the winning, as a result Jason’s in it to win it attitude has gone down like a lead balloon,” said William Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

The British bookmakers are now tipping McFly’s Harry Judd as their 1/3 to take the title at the weekend, with Chelsee Healy in second place with odds of 11/4 Chelsee Healey.

He’s pretty much contractually obliged to hate Strictly, but it turns out that X Factor judge Gary Barlow can’t get enough of his rival show – according to his best mate Jason Donovan.

Speaking exclusively to heat magazine , Jason told us, “Gary is a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing. Secretly, I know he fancies himself wearing full-on sequins, with a shaved chest and open shirt. It’s just a shame he’s busy with The X Factor.”

“Gary has actually visited me at Strictly, too,” reveals Jason, 43. “Obviously it wasn’t on a Saturday! It was during one of my rehearsals in London and he came to support me. Gary’s wife came to see the live show, too – she’s a big fan. They both come from dance-related backgrounds, so they really love the show.”

But Jason is quick to point out that he thinks Gary, 40, has done Simon proud on this year’s X Factor. “It’s taken a while for it to find its rhythm, but Gary is the best man for the job,” he says.

In other news – Len Goodman was missing in action tonight, so he was replaced by Dirty Dancing star (and Dancing With The Stars contestant) Jennifer Grey. Jennifer was a great replacement for Len, but she seemed to get her scores stuck on 8 for most of the night. And…she made us all cringe when she said to Chelsee Healy “nobody puts Baby in a corner”. Oh dear.So, tonight we’re doing something a little different. No liveblog for you this evening, but we’ve compiled our own chart of who we think the best dancers were tonight. Let us know in the comments if you agree or disagree with our list!

1. Jason Donovan: No doubt about it, Jason showed the other dancers how it’s done tonight. His rhumba to Killing Me Softly was beautiful – he and Kristina mirrored each other’s moves with flowing lines. However, Jennifer Grey told him that the routine felt a little contrived tonight, with Alesha Dixon following up by saying that she got bored by it! Incredible!
2. Holly Valance: They teased that Holly wouldn’t be able to keep up in this breakneck-paced jive, but of course the Aussie had no such trouble! An energetic routine that showed Holly as one of the new strongest contestants on the show.
3. Alex Jones: Definitely one of the most improved dancers in this year’s Strictly, Alex showed off some very accomplished footwork in this quickstep. Well, until she and James toppled over right at the end. But that was deliberate, right? The judges were full of praise for the massive improvement in Alex’s dancing this week.
4. Harry Judd: How refreshing to watch Harry working the dancefloor. I’m sure our lady readers will agree that his costume hit all the right notes, as did Aliona for the gents. Not sure what the judges meant about Harry being restrained – in the wake of Lulu and Audley, his routine was a considerable step up tonight!
5. Lulu: Dancing to Prince’s Kiss, it was a bit of a cover-up that Brendan Cole came down the stairs ahead of Lulu, his twirling masking her dancing. However, when the pair hit the dancefloor, she and Brendan gave an elegant, entertaining routine. Yes, there were a few wobbles, but nothing that ruined the performance for me.
6. Chelsee Healy: We were just relieved (or disappointed) that Chelsee kept her lovely lady lumps under cover tonight. A lively, somewhat comedic routine for the couple tonight which drew mostly positive comments from the judges. Even Craig!
7. Anita Dobson: Anita and Robin brought some 20′s glamour to Strictly with their routine tonight. Massive fun as always, my main criticism of Anita here is how often she looks to Robin for reassurance – or possibly to remember what her next move is. Generally positive remarks from the judges, particularly from Alesha who notes that she’s “transforming into a dancer”.
8. Russell Grant: Looking like a tubby tribute to Eric Morcambe, Russell starts this routine off riding a bull. But he maybe should have stayed on the bull, because the routine tonight was under-par. Entertaining, it was. But the quality of the dancing has taken a backward step this week. It’s hard to hate on Russell Grant though, because I’m just loving to have him back on telly.
9. Robbie Savage: Have to admit to getting slightly bored in the middle of this routine. Jennifer Grey complained that she didn’t see the connection between Robbie and his “sexy dance partner”. It never speaks well of the routine when your attention wanders, does it?
10. Audley Harrison: Couldn’t help feeling that Audley was letting Natalie do all the hard work in this routine. Sometimes it looks like the professional dancer is compensating for the celebrity’s lack of skills. Shocking that Audley got his highest marks to date this evening!

Not only have Strictly Come Dancing ratings been going through the roof this year but bookies report that more people than ever are placing bets on the outcome of the 2011 series.

William Hill have reported that punters seem convinced either Harry Judd or Jason Donovan will taking the glitterball trophy next month and have slashed the odds on both men winning the competition.

The bookmakers currently have Harry at 7/4 to win and Jason at 15/8.

“Strictly is going from strength to strength and our turnover is double what it was at a similar time last year!” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.

Anyway, welcome to another Strictly Liveblog! Tonight’s episode was punctuated by Brucie telling a joke that was actually funny. And it had a little poke at ITV at the same time! Strictly’s getting confident! And Craig Revell Horwood swooping in on a broomstick? Classic!

Russell Grant

Russell looks like the campest devil ever in this routine, dancing to Better The Devil You Know. Satan never looked this gay! To give him his dues, Russell isn’t the most technically proficient dancer on the show, but his Latin-inspired movements were still a lot of fun to watch. And Flavia always makes up for her partner’s more clunky dance skills.

Judges: Len tells Russell “Don’t worry about the X Factor, you’ve got the feel-good factor!” Alesha Dixon congratulates him on a job well done, while Bruno says “you turned Hell into a camp Heaven”. Craig says “you are one wig away from being Mystic Meg”. Craig’s got a lot of criticism for Russell’s dancing skills tonight which did let him down.

Scores: Craig: 4, Len: 6, Alesha:6, Bruno:6 Total: 22

Chelsee Healy

Pasha conjures Chelsee out of a cauldron for this routine. We’re assuming that the song’s called Love Potion, though we’ve never heard it before! Chelsee’s decked out in a sexy vampish costume and she seems to flow well through the routine this week, although it lacks a little chemistry for my money… Oh…she had a little weep at the end because of a wardrobe malfunction.

Judges: Alesha tells her that she covered it so well, it didn’t distract from the dance. Bruno calls her a wicked little dancer and praises her feel for performance. Craig says that he would have prefered it to be more grounded, although notes that it was a mess toward the end. He brings it back by calling the overall routine feisty. Len must be feeling hungry, because he compares Chelsee to a Lancashire hotpot. Huh?

Scores: Craig: 7, Len: 8, Alesha: 9, Bruno:8 Total: 32

Audley Harrison

Audley comes out fighting on this bouncy and fun version of Little Shop Of Horrors. I get the impression his moves are actually a tad sloppy and it’s a technical nightmare. But like Russell Grant, there’s something entertaining about this man-giant loping about the dancefloor with a sexy dancer. Great fun.

Judges: Bruno says “great smile, terrible footwork” and tells him that the jive is all about the precision. Craig calls it a gallant effort, but notes that Audley is completely physically unsuited to this kind of dancing. But even grumpy Craig sees the entertainment value. Len’s a lot more forgiving, commending the timing and fun factor yet again. Alesha loves the concept and the idea of the dance, but thought the jive was outside of Audley’s comfort zone.

Scores: Craig: 3, Len: 6, Alesha: 6, Bruno: 5 Total: 20

Alex Jones

Shockingly, the BBC slipped in an Evanescense track for this routine! Alex is immaculately dressed in a flouncey white ballgown and James is dressed as Dracula. It’s actually quite an exciting, dramatic routine. Great musical choice and a brilliant routine.

Judges: Craig loved the concept and said “it was the complete antihesis” and he almost found it erotic. Yikes! That may be the scariest comment on TV this week! Len loved the “intensity” of the performance and said overall it was well done. Alesha praises Alex’s comeback, especially the bravery of starting the routine solo. Bruno’s voice has started to sound slightly Transylvanian this week, so I didn’t understand a word, but I’m sure it was complete nonsense anyway.

Scores: Craig: 7, Len: 8, Alesha: 8, Bruno: 8 Total: 31

Holly Valance

Ready for a very bizarre American Smooth/Swan Lake crossover? Here’s Holly and Artem. Holly’s decked out in a slinky black number which I thoroughly approve of. The routine? It feels too short, but it’s dramatic and romantic. And the audience gives a standing ovation for the couple.

Judges: Len wants to set the clocks back and see the whole routine again. Alesha tells them both that they look incredible and it’s her favourite concept of the night so far. Bruno congratulates Holly on taking a risk and praises her “exquisite top lines”. We didn’t think Bruno was into that kind of thing, but we’re pleased he noticed. Craig even has praise for the daring choices Holly made for this routine!

Scores: Craig: 8, Len: 9, Alesha: 9, Bruno: 9 Total: 35

Nancy Dell’Olio

Having finally convinced Nancy to start the routine in a closed coffin, Anton appears out of the ground…in silver trousers! Nancy certainly looks appropriately vampish, but there’s little in the routine to get us excited. Well, apart from that leg raising lift towards the end. There’s a bit of gentle comedy at the end, but I’m still not really warming to Nancy.

Judges: Alesha tells Nancy that she’s a sexy woman but questions why her legs have to be so far apart. Yikes! Bruno tells her she dances like the walking dead. He believes she’s not listening enough to the music. Craig told Nancy it all went horribly wrong from the moment Nancy stepped out of the coffin and he also aims some criticism at Anton’s repetitive choreography. Len says it had moments of Mills & Boon and moments of Meals On Wheels.

Scores: Craig: 2, Len: 5, Alesha: 3, Bruno: 4 Total: 14

Harry Judd

Harry Judd is always going to be one of the technical highlights of the evening. He’s got a very good partnership with Aliona, excellent posture and he travels well across the dancefloor. Definitely a few Machiavellian moves thrown in there, especially toward the end where he bites Aliona’s neck then throws her away! Brilliant!

Judges: Bruno raves about him being intense, hypnotic and erotic while Craig loves that the routine was full of intent and purpose but nitpicks that he’d have liked to see more in-hold dancing. Len agrees with this. He wants to see more in-hold work, although he praises the technical work. Alesha loves Harry’s beautiful piece of dance, calling the couple the King and Queen of Tango tonight.

Scores: Craig: 8, Len: 7, Alesha: 10, Bruno: 9 Total: 34

Robbie Savage

Unless Robbie’s playing this routine in character as a zombie, this is the most lethargic dance routine of the night. He just looks unexcited throughout the whole thing. Though he does finish by leaping onto the judges’ desk and almost colliding with Craig Revell Horwood’s face. Craig – as Brucie points out – wasn’t sure where to look…

Judges: Craig notes that it needed more drive and that his hands were like soup-ladels. Though he says “apart from all that, it was amazing”. Len wasn’t impressed by all the thrusting and comes to the conclusion that Robbie’s better at ballroom work. Alesha tells him to keep thrusting, while Bruno…well, who knows what Bruno said.

Scores: Craig: 4, Len: 7, Alesha: 8, Bruno: 7 Total: 26

Anita Dobson

Anita draws a tango this week, to Devil Woman no less. She’s had a change in fortunes in the last week or so, and it looks like she’s got renewed confidence on the dancefloor. She’s certainly throwing herself into the horror theme too, all claws, teeth and snarls. The actual dance content isn’t as exciting as I’d have liked it to be, but like last week’s dance, it was fun to watch.

Judges: Len’s got good things to say, but does nitpick at some of the postural and timing errors that Anita made. Alesha praises Anita’s acting skills, but again tells her to master her hold. Bruno raves about the acting, and agrees with Alesha’s ideas about posture. Craig spares the criticism and tells her he loved the routine.

Scores: Craig: 7, Len: 8, Alesha: 8, Bruno: 8 Total: 31

Lulu

Lulu makes an aerial entrance to AC/DCs Highway To Hell. Both she and Brendan Cole are decked out as bats. I’ve gotta be fair to the two of them, there’s a lot of energy in this dance. There seem to be a few bumps in the music though – did anyone else think Brendan was waiting for the singer to catch up at one point? Anyway, the routine ends with Lulu making a flying exit onto the balcony. Great stuff! Another standing ovation.

Judges: Bruno says that Lulu didn’t go wrong once tonight, calling her strong and powerful. Craig loved the concept and gives rare praise to Brendan’s choreography, but says there was a battle for supremacy between the two when they were in hold. Len complains that Lulu’s too soft in the body, but loved the entertainment value. Alesha Dixon loved Lulu’s amazing entrance. And yes, I knew how that would read before I typed it up! Haha!

Scores: Craig: 6, Len: 7, Alesha: 8, Bruno: 8 Total: 29

Jason Donovan

Dancing to Bewitched, Jason Donovan becomes voodoo doll to Kristina Rhianoff. After the initial gimmicky start, the couple lock into some smooth dancing. TThere are quite a few Jason Donovan haters out there, but I love his presence and his acting skills are always put to good use. Such a fun routine.

Judges: Craig does another awful Australian accent, but essentially he’s a fan of the routine. Len loves the makeup, hair and costume people and even squeezes a little bit of a compliment in for Jason.
