Hands up who is excited about the start of this year’s X Factor series on Saturday?

Well, we are, and in the hustle and bustle of all the run up excitement, it has now been revealed that this year’s grand final will be held in Manchester this year, as opposed to London’s Wembley like last year, according to the Mirror newspaper.

Uh-oh, favour alert!  It would seem that in good old fashioned X Factor style, this year will not be sidestepping the tradition of starting in a media flurry of controversy, as one of entrants of this year’s competition not only knows judge, Tulisa, but toured with her!

Singer Jaya auditioned London’s O2 Arena earlier this year and made it through to the judge’s houses round of the show, which begins airing its audition stages next Saturday night.

For the first time ever, singers with management deals are allowed to apply for The X Factor this year and it seems the rule change has attracted a whole different calibre of performer.

23 year old Jaya has been a big hit with the judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger and made it as far as at least bootcamp last month but it has been reported that she knew at least one of the panel members before trying out for the ITV show.

The brunette beauty had previously toured with Tulisa and performed as support act for her band N-Dubz on their 2009 tour. If she reaches judges houses, she may come face to face with another singer she’s familiar with, as Jaya toured with Tinie Tempah who has reportedly been asked to assist either Tulisa or Nicole at their final audition stage.
