BBC One is making dreams come true as part of a brand new, six-part Saturday night entertainment show. Hosted by Torchwood and West End star John Barrowman, Tonight’s The Night combines show-stopping acts from world class artists with once-in-a-lifetime performances that make people’s dreams come true.

It doesn’t matter how young or old, or how big, small or bizarre the wish. Tonight’s The Night will end up being the night ordinary people live out their performing fantasy for real and become the most unlikely stars that Saturday evenings have ever seen.

From local community heroes to enthusiastic amateurs with a hidden talent they have been yearning to unleash, Tonight will be their time to shine – with the help of John and the best talent in the business.

This could mean duetting with a favourite pop group, singing with a big band or tripping the light fantastic with the cast of a hit West End musical. John will leave no performance stone unturned to make this the night of their lives and a must-see for entertainment fans.

There will also be big laughs, with a succession of celebrity guest appearances, performances, exciting studio challenges and show-stopping numbers. Guest celebrities will support the stars for a night and become involved in making their wishes come true.

The studio audience will also be kept on their showbiz toes, because John will be hitting unsuspecting members with a series of elaborately staged surprises, turning their dreams into a reality on the night whether they like it or not!

In a recent interview with The Mirror Torchwood star, John Barrowman has said that he thinks Laura White was the right person to go home on Saturday night.

40,000 people have signed a petition against Laura’s eviction but John thinks that her bad diction led to people not really ‘getting her’, and wasn’t surprised that she ended up in the bottom two.

John doesn’t appear to be much of a Diana Vickers fan either. You’ve got to love how frank and honest this man is!

I’d Do Anything judge John Barrowman tells Jonathan Ross tonight that he has a favourite Nancy – just a day before the grand final of the contest to find the West End’s newest star.

John and Andrew Lloyd Webber pop in for a chat on this week’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC One and discuss which of the three finalists should land the lead role in Cameron Mackintosh’s revival of Oliver!

“Andrew has a specific favourite, we all do,” admits John. “The three girls all have a great amount of talent, how I look at this now is, this is going to be life-changing, who can handle it?”

Andrew denies any rivalry with Mackintosh, saying: “He’s been responsible for three of the greatest musicals of all time, he’s a good lad, he said at the beginning [of I'd Do Anything] that he was a bit dubious [but] he’s really bought into this process.”

And Andrew doesn’t rule out being involved in another TV search for a West End star.

He tells Jonathan: “I’m not a TV personality… but I love working with the kids. It’s a very difficult one because the production’s got to be there, it’s not like any other reality show.”

Also on tonight’s show is Kirsty Young, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs and BBC One’s Crimewatch, who admits she’d love to interview HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

She tells Jonathan: “Camilla – she’s a bit of a sexy piece, I think people would be really interested to get some sort of handle on her.”

Kirsty also admits: “I watch so much less news than I used to… it would be better if there was a news network that told us all the extraordinary stuff as well, news doesn’t cover that.

“News is very conservative… Forty years ago I wouldn’t be in any of the jobs I get because they wouldn’t put up with a regional accent.”

Jonathan also chats with Mark Wahlberg, and there’s music from Black Kids.

Denise Van Outen has revealed that her fellow ‘I’d Do Anything’ judge, John Barrowman once tried to drag her into Andrew Lloyd Webber’s swimming pool for a spot of skinny dipping.

Denise told the Radio Times: “John went skinny-dipping in Andrew’s pool when we were at his house but I remained clothed. He tried dragging me in, but I resisted by clinging for dear life to the wall. Andrew wasn’t there but John told him he’d been in his pool naked and he just laughed.”

Van Outen also revealed that ALW is one heck of a mover on the dance floor!

“I knew he had a sense of humour because I’d hung out with him before,” she said. “I tell you what: he’s more rock ‘n’ roll than any of us put together. When we used to go out he’d be on the dance floor throwing some shapes; he was the last to leave.

“People are a bit shocked when they see the Lord going for it on the dance floor. He’s a good mover.”

I must admit that with all the great TV this weekend I managed to miss this show, so if anyone has an opinion on how it went, I’d love to hear it!

I’d Do Anything judge, John Barrowman has admitted to getting regular botox injections in order to keep his youthful looks.

The star of BBC’s Torchwood told new! magazine: I don’t swear by it (botox), but I think it’s quite good. The key is to not do the forehead. Men need forehead lines and doing the forehead makes you look like Nicole Kidman!

“If you’re going to do anything, just do it round the eyes, that’s all men need.”

I’d Do Anything judge, John Barrowman has hit out at actor Kevin Spacey who last week criticised the show.

When asked to comment on Spacey’s remarks John told Capital Radio in true Barrowman style: “You know what, shut up! It’s promoting theatre. Maybe he’s a bit upset because his plays just aren’t hits.”

Any Dream Will Do judge and former leading man, John Barrowman has tipped the two Scottish contestants, Craig Chalmers and Keith Jack, as contenders for the shows final.

“I think the standard of talent is excellent, particularly Craig and Keith, who are both good Scottish boys. All the other boys in general are all of a very good standard and high quality,” Barrowman told the Daily Record.

“I always remain impartial but I’m thrilled that two Scottish boys are getting close to the final. But it’s Scotland, you know what I mean. They’re the two cans of Irn Bru up on stage.

“I can see a leading man in some of them. I can see careers in some of them, but none has gone, wow. They don’t have that showbiz factor yet.”

There are now 10 finalists left as legendary composer and producer Andrew Lloyd Webber and his panel continue their quest to find a new Joseph. In the third live show, the remaining hopefuls take to the stage to prove that they have the drive, determination and sheer, unadulterated talent to land one of the best-loved roles in musical theatre.

In the presence of Lloyd Webber and his esteemed panel of experts – Broadway and West End leading lady Denise van Outen, celebrated theatre producer Bill Kenwright, Torchwood star John Barrowman and outspoken vocal coach Zoe Tyler – the West End wannabes battle it out to prove that they have the charisma and star quality worthy of the Technicolor™ Dreamcoat.

Graham Norton hosts as the Josephs give it everything they’ve got to win this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to star in the West End. Once the panel have given their expert opinion, viewers are able to vote for their favourite. Whose dreams will be shattered? And who will still have the chance to be the public’s Joseph?

John Barrowman has been accused of being ‘fattist’ this week after comments he made about applicants to the BBC’s new reality show, Any Dream Will Do.

John will appear on the Charlotte Church show tonight, and Charlotte confronts him saying:

“You were quoted last week in the press saying that fatties need not apply”.

To which John replies: “That was a mis-quote and what I actually said was that you have to be physically fit in order to perform in eight shows a week, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a size 0.

“It doesn’t mean you have to be thin to be physically fit … you can still be full figured”.
