Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has thrown her weight behind P Diddy as a judge on next year’s season of the singing show.

The American rap star has already admitted that he’d be interested in joining the judging panel, telling GMTV that he’d even take a pay cut for the job. He said:

“As a matter of fact I have a new negotiation, I would take a five per cent cut on what he was getting. He was on something like $34 million, and that’s peanuts.”

Jordin Sparks jumped on the bandwagon yesterday when she suggested:

“He’s the best fit! He was great on ‘Making the Band’, he’s a producer and he’s been in the industry for a long time. I think he’d probably be the best fit.”

“We just need to tell him he needs to swear less,” she added. “They’ll have to bleep him out all the time!”

Seven out of the eight American Idol winners returned to the Idol stage last night and performed a tribute to outgoing judge Simon Cowell.

Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen, joined by a gaggle of past contestants gathered on stage to sing Delta Goodrem’s ‘Together We are One.’ The only person missing was season seven winner David Cook, who had to attend a charity event instead.

“Congrats to Lee Dewyze! So sorry I couldn’t be there to see all my fellow idols,” Cook tweeted Wednesday. “I’m there in spirit!”

Season One winner Kelly Clarkson’s Facebook page announced the performance earlier in the day, alerting fans not to miss her performance on the finale tonight. It read:

“Don’t miss Kelly performing tonight on American Idol! She and fellow winner Fantasia will be performing ‘Together We Are One’ as a farewell performance to Simon Cowell.”

After the song, Simon joined the singers on stage and said:

“I didn’t think I would be this emotional but I genuinely am. “I just want to say that it’s great to have this little one (Paula) back and what Paula said is true. The show goes forward and it will be different. I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support, the fun and your sense of humour. That has been the best part. Seeing these contestants back, that’s what made the show.”

He continued: “When anyone asks who will replace me, the truth is you guys are the judges of this show and you’ve done an incredible job over the years.”

Cowell added that he will “miss” everybody involved with the show, saying: “Thank you very much indeed. It’s been a blast.”

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has landed a role in the Broadway play ‘The Heights.’

The ‘Battlefield’ singer has admitted that she will be fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams, by taking on the role of college student Nina Rosario.

She said: “It’s always been one of my dreams to perform on Broadway. This is a brand new experience for me.

“I look so forward to spending time in New York City and joining this talented cast and my favourite new musical.”

Sparks will begin her 12-week stint as Nina in August 2010.

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks as taken to her Twitter page to express her annoyance at the judge’s treatment of Jesse Hamilton.

As Anniston native Jesse Hamilton appeared on ‘American Idol’ last night, his attempt to sing Garth Brooks’ ‘The River’ met with hysterical laughter/mock tears by guest judge Mary J. Blige, which was badly covered up by Kara DioGuardi.

Hamilton claims to have cheated death three time and to add to his embarrassment, a “cheap re-enactment” was provided — hillbilly style — of each brush with the grim reaper.

Jordin took to Twitter exclaiming:

Jesse Hamilton. Bless his heart. Those cheap dramatizations weren’t funny.

Atleast I didn’t think so. Anyway, the girl from South Dakota was adorable!!

Jordin Sparks has revealed that she would love to perform on X Factor.

The former American Idol winner told ‘You Call The Hits’ on The Hits Radio: “We’ve been talking about it. I don’t know if it’s confirmed yet, so if I am it’ll be just as a surprise to you as it is to me.

“But I’m hoping – I’m trying to make that happen because I want to.”

She also wants to duet with former X factor winner Leona Lewis. She added: “I’ve met her a few times, she’s so sweet. For the past year I’ve been wanting to do something with her, so hopefully we’ll be able to make that happen soon.

“I was thinking about a female duet like the Whitney and Mariah thing, but definitely in our own way and our type of music. I would just love to do something like that.

“I don’t know if it’s going to happen now or maybe in a couple of years. I know she’s just finished up her second album which I’m really excited to go grab, so we’ll see what happens.”

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, has called the producers of the show ‘dumb’ for letting Paula Abdul go.

“It was dumb on American Idol’s part,” the winner of season six told us earlier today at 102.7 KISS-FM’s Teen Choice Awards gifting lounge. “I love American Idol and I respect them. It’s because of them that I got my start, but Paula was one of the original judges. She helped soften the blow for contestants when we didn’t do well. I love Paula.”

“The show will definitely not be the same without her, and I feel bad that future contestants will not get to experience having her on the show,” she continued. “I’m so sad.”

American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has admitted that she was bowled over when she first caught Susan Boyle’s Britain’s Got Talent audition on Youtube.

The Tattoo singer revealed that she wasn’t sure what to expect when she first heard about Boyle but came to support the ‘underdog’ after hearing her sing.

“I’m such a fan of Susan Boyle. I was hearing all this commotion about her, so I looked her up online,” she told The Sun.

“I thought one of two things, either she’s going to be really good or really bad. So when she opened her mouth and was amazing, the look on Simon Cowell’s face was priceless.”

She added: “The coolest thing was she walked out there just being her and everyone was like, ‘Yeah, right’.

“And then she opened her mouth and all of a sudden you saw everybody’s mood and attitude toward her change. Everybody loves an underdog story, especially me.”
