The pair found themselves in the bottom two with Bradley Clarkson and Michelle Antrobus and judge Brian Friedman was quick to tell the public that they had picked the wrong people. He reminded us that we are NOT voting for our best friends but for the best Sandy and Danny.

However the choice was made and the very talented Tom and Kate have left. Its a shame….

An ITV1 spokeswoman told The Sun:

“Kate was play fighting with another contestant Wayne Smith when he accidentally hit her in the face.

“Now she may have to wear an eye-patch when she performs in Saturday’s show. She ran off crying when it happened and she is very upset.

“She was treated straightaway by the first aid team but we don’t know how serious the swelling is. But she didn’t have to go to hospital.

“We have told her to rest and she is wearing an eye-patch as a precaution at the moment.”

Tom Bradley, a 19-year-old actor from Leicester was dubbed a ‘real life Danny’ by David Ian at his first audition and did not disappoint at Bootcamp.

Although he is young, Tom has worked as a singer on a cruise ship and has been involved in amateur theatre.

“I played Danny once before when we did Grease at school and it was the most fun I’ve ever had doing a show,” says Tom.

“I think he’s a bit like me. He’s quite hard on the outside and has this cool tough exterior but is also quite soft on the inside and is actually quite vulnerable and confused about his emotions.”

Hoping to convince everyone she should be given the role of Sandy and partnering Tom, is 23-year-old Kate Somerset-How a gym receptionist from London.

Despite initially splitting the judge’s opinions of her straight down the middle, Kate eventually won all four of them over.

“Playing Sandy would fulfil my ultimate ambition,” says Kate.

“It is my perfect role and I believe I want this more than anyone. I have never done any professional theatrical work and this is the closest I have ever come to realising my potential as a West End leading lady.

“David Gest disliked all aspects of my performance and that spurred me on to change his mind during Bootcamp”

The Story So Far…

* Kate’s performance split the judges straight down the middle with David Gest saying her performance bored him, and Brian thinking the dancing was bad. David Ian thought she has a clear projected voice, and Sinitta agreed.

* Following her singing audition on the first day at Bootcamp, David Gest told her that she had won him over: “You did your homework, each time you get better and better and better.”

* Sinitta was impressed with her final performance when she performed in a couple. Brian was also impressed: “She’s a powerhouse. I’d written her off yesterday and but now she’s back.”

* The judges agreed she is one of the best singers in the competition. Their only concern is her lack of vulnerability.

History

* Kate was born in Southampton in 1983 and raised in Swammick, Hants. She has a twin brother.

* Kate lives with her fiancé Ben in London and says he is ‘the one’ despite only having been together nine months.

* Kate has had singing lessons since she was 13 and a won a vocal scholarship at university. She also had weekly lessons at drama school but has never before auditioned for the West End.

* Away from singing, Kate enjoys creative writing and is currently in the middle of writing her first novel.

Have you had any theatrical training? Background in theatre/on stage?

”I have been performing since I was old enough to step onto a stage – my first lead role was aged nine, when I played Nancy in ‘Oliver!’.”

Has it been a difficult journey for you to get to this stage?

“It is very emotional going through the stress of initial auditions and subsequent call backs. Being away from those who support you is also very tough, and being around people who are sharing the experience is both a blessing and a curse. They can empathise with you but they are also your competition and are just as nervous and emotional as you.”

What does it mean to you to play Sandy?

“Playing Sandy would fulfil my ultimate ambition. It is my perfect role and I believe I want this more than anyone. I have never done any professional theatrical work, and this is the closest I have ever come to realising my potential as a West End leading lady. “

What’s your main talent?

“My main talent is singing – all styles from opera through to blues. I am very sporty, and used to compete in National athletics and swimming competitions.”

What do you think of the judges?

”David Gest disliked all aspects of my performance for my Round Three audition, and that spurred me on to change his mind during Bootcamp – which I did. Brian Friedman seemed very disappointed in my dancing initially, so during the second day of Bootcamp, when we were able to choreograph and perform our own dances, I did my best to redeem myself and prove that I am a capable dancer.”
