Konnie Huq has revealed that she is expecting her first baby.

The former Xtra Factor host married writer Charlie Brooker last year and admitted at the time that she had been hoping to start a family, but put her plans on hold because she landed a job on Simon Cowell’s X Factor spinoff.

However, she was axed from the ITV2 series earlier this year and replaced with Olly Murs and Caroline Flack, so it seems settling down and having a baby was top of Huq’s to do list.

The baby faced 36 year old has announced that she and Brooker are expecting a baby boy, with her due date thought to fall around Easter time.

The pair recently worked together, when they co-wrote an episode of Charlie’s new Channel 4 dark drama ‘Black Mirror.’ Konnie recently completed filming on the Lonely Planet travel show for the Discovery channel.

Stacey Solomon is reportedly being considered as the new host of The Xtra Factor.

The mum of one shot to fame on the 2009 series of The X Factor, when she finished in third place behind Joe McElderry and Olly Murs.

More recently she won ITV’s I’m A Celebrity and landed her first presenting job on their Saturday night entertainment programme, Sing If You Can.

Insiders say the singer met with Xtra Factor bosses yesterday, to discuss the possibility of her taking over on the spinoff show from former Blue Peter star Konnie Huq.

Other names in the frame are Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, TV presenter Jeff Brazier and The Saturday’s singer Frankie Sanford.

We don’t think Stacey could handle the pressure ourselves and out of the bunch above, think Kimberley would be the wisest choice!

It’s been a disappointing week for Laura Hamilton.

Not only did she lose out on the Dancing On Ice title last Sunday but now it seems that she is out of the running for the Xtra Factor job too.

The former children’s TV presenter came second on the ITV ice skating series at the weekend – being beaten in the end by Eastenders star Sam Attwater – and previously revealed that presenting the X Factor spin off show would be her dream job.

She told The Mirror:

“Of course ‘Xtra Factor’ appeals. I’ve got a couple of work projects and opportunities that are potentially going to happen and a few decisions to make after that, but to present something like ‘Xtra Factor’ would be amazing.”

Insiders had claimed that Laura’s name was being considered for the role and that she was a potential replacement for Konnie Huq, however a source today told The Sun:

“Konnie was a children’s TV host too, and bosses won’t be making that mistake again.”

A spokesman for the show added of the rumours: “There is no truth in it.”

Konnie Huq has claimed that she will be fronting the Xtra Factor when it returns later this year.

The former Blue Peter host took over presenting the X Factor spinoff show, after Holly Willoughby left to front This Morning with Phillip Schofield. However she faced a backlash from disgruntled viewers after a series of on screen mistakes and a very wooden presenting style.

Insiders reported that Simon Cowell was ready to drop and replace Huq but she told Vanessa Feltz that she is expecting to return.

She said: “I hope to go back to the Xtra Factor.

“I expected criticism as it was so different to what I have done before. Dannii Minogue had it too when she first started.”

Recent reports had suggested that Simon has already promised the job to Sky Sports presenter Georgie Thompson, who is dating Britain’s Got Talent star Declan Donnelly.

Konnie Huq has admitted that she isn’t yet sure if she will return to present ‘The Xtra Factor’…..but she hopes she still has a job.

The newly married TV presenter isn’t worried about the criticisms she received for on screen mistakes on ‘The X Factor’ spin-off show last year, but told Star magazine that she probably won’t find out about her future, until the auditions are about to begin.

Huq said:

“Hopefully, I will be back, but I can’t say 100 per cent, you just don’t know what will happen.

“They always make decisions at the last minute so you can never say, ‘Yeah, definitely!’ because they could change their mind the night before.

“Any show that starts is always going to get bad press and people don’t like change. With all the other previous ‘Xtra Factor’ presenters, they’ve had slack online – it’s just part of the job really.”

Konnie also said she likes hanging around with the show’s judges – Simon, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue – after recording has finished, and particularly enjoys spending time with the male panellists.

She added: “Louis always had a party in his dressing room. I probably saw more of Louis and Simon out of work I went round with Louis one day to watch the show back with him and a load of other people and it’s just really easy. He’s really witty and funny, he’s good company.

“Simon really is so normal. He’s a really genuine, normal guy. You can just chat to him, pop into his dressing room – he’s got no airs or graces. And he never gets angry or yells at anyone.”

Jeff Brazier has revealed that he would love to take over as presenter of The Xtra Factor.

The X Factor spinoff show – which airs each autumn/winter on ITV2 – was previously fronted by Blue Peter star Konnie Huq, though insiders claim that Simon Cowell is planning to drop her before the series return.

Asked if he would replace Konnie, Dancing On Ice contestant Brazier told Heat:

“It’s my ideal job. But I have a lot of respect for Konnie, so I don’t want to be rude.

“As far as I know, it’s not even available. But in terms of my ideal presenting job, I would love to have the opportunity. I’m sure it would be the making of my presenting career.”

ITV2 Xtra Factor host, Konnie Huq, has revealed that if her ITV and X Factor bosses want her to front the ITV2 companion show again this year, she’d be more than happy to.

However, she added that as changes are being made to the format of The X Factor and Xtra Factor this year, she isn’t sure she will be asked back.

Speaking to the PA, Konnie said, “They’re chopping everything around…

“So as far as I am concerned so far yes [I will be back] but you just don’t know what happens in this weird and wonderful world of TV.”

Konnie Huq has revealed that as far as she is concerned, she WILL be back on The Xtra Factor later this year.

Speaking at last night’s National Television Awards, Huq told reporters that while nothing had been signed or set in stone as yet, she expects to be back on the ITV2 show in 2011. She told PA:

“Well they are chopping everything around. As far as I’m concerned at the moment, yes [I will be back]. But you just don’t know what will happen in this weird and wonderful world of television.”

Previously insiders had reportedly claimed that Simon Cowell wanted to get rid of Konnie, after a series of on air mistakes.

A production source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Simon Cowell hasn’t been impressed and it seems certain she will be axed. Every week there seems to be a new mistake.”

Dancing On Ice contestant Jeff Brazier has admitted that he wants to replace Konnie Huq on The Xtra Factor.

The presenter currently fronts the X Factor’s nationwide tour and speaks on This Morning each week about the show while it’s on air.

Insiders report that Simon Cowell is looking for a replacement for current host of the spinoff show Konnie Huq, after a series of mistakes and gaffs irritated viewers during the 2010 run.

Jeff thinks he’s the man for the job and told The Sun:

“I’ve been doing the tour and the bosses seem happy with me.”

He added: “It helps to have been a contestant on a reality show so when you interview people you know exactly how they feel and ask the right questions.”

Our dreams have come true! Konnie Huq is reportedly set to be sacked from The Xtra Factor..

The former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter was brought in to replace Holly Willoughby when she left ITV2 show earlier this year but her wooden presenting style was not popular with viewers and she is said to have angered music mogul Simon Cowell by making a series of embarrassing blunders.

A production source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Simon Cowell hasn’t been impressed and it seems certain she will be axed. Every week there seems to be a new mistake.”

Meanwhile, thousands of viewers have reportedly called for the return of Holly Willoughby, while a number of “sack Konnie” threads have also appeared on entertainment websites by furious fans who don’t want her to front next year’s series.

Unreality TV readers on Twitter last night joked that they would organise a ‘whip round’ and offer the money to Holly, if she would agree to return to the show.

Konnie’s latest gaffe came on Saturday night (11.12.10) when she said to finalist Cher Lloyd minutes after she was booted off the show: “What a night it has been for you, a night of dreams.”

An official ‘Xtra Factor’ spokesman confirmed no decisions have been made for the next series of the ITV2 show.
