Seven out of the eight American Idol winners returned to the Idol stage last night and performed a tribute to outgoing judge Simon Cowell.

Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen, joined by a gaggle of past contestants gathered on stage to sing Delta Goodrem’s ‘Together We are One.’ The only person missing was season seven winner David Cook, who had to attend a charity event instead.

“Congrats to Lee Dewyze! So sorry I couldn’t be there to see all my fellow idols,” Cook tweeted Wednesday. “I’m there in spirit!”

Season One winner Kelly Clarkson’s Facebook page announced the performance earlier in the day, alerting fans not to miss her performance on the finale tonight. It read:

“Don’t miss Kelly performing tonight on American Idol! She and fellow winner Fantasia will be performing ‘Together We Are One’ as a farewell performance to Simon Cowell.”

After the song, Simon joined the singers on stage and said:

“I didn’t think I would be this emotional but I genuinely am. “I just want to say that it’s great to have this little one (Paula) back and what Paula said is true. The show goes forward and it will be different. I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support, the fun and your sense of humour. That has been the best part. Seeing these contestants back, that’s what made the show.”

He continued: “When anyone asks who will replace me, the truth is you guys are the judges of this show and you’ve done an incredible job over the years.”

Cowell added that he will “miss” everybody involved with the show, saying: “Thank you very much indeed. It’s been a blast.”

Though their fans may often clash, American Idol stars Kris Allen and Adam Lambert have proved that they are still the best of friends, despite Kris stealing the Idol crown last year.

Allen and Lambert, crossed paths in Boston last weekend as they both performed at the KISS 108 Concert. Check out the video footage of Adam’s performances here.

After the show, last year’s American Idol runner up Adam took to his Twitter page to tell Kris:

“great seeing you!!! Look at these adventures we’re on!!! Insane in the best ways possible ”

Kris came straight back with:

“dude it’s always good to talk with you. Tell John I said hi.”

In an interview with MTV, Adam previously assured fans that he bears no ill will towards Kris, despite his win last year. He said:

“I feel like I hope people could see that, and kind of be inspired by that, It really shouldn’t frickin’ matter what your background is, what your religion is, what your sexuality is, what your colour of your skin is.

He added: “It’s like we should focus on our similarities as opposed to our differences and learn how to coexist. Kris and I were very different, but we get along great because we were both willing and wanted to and had the desire to get along.”

Since the two singers seem to get on so well, one can’t help but wonder why their fans detest each other so much….

Winfrey’s No Phone Zone is an initiative that encourages people to avoid talking and texting on their cell phones whilst driving……sounds like a worthwhile campaign.

Outgoing American Idol contestant Katie Stevens has said that she did not mind being compared to former finalists Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. During recent shows Katie chose to sing ‘Feelin’ Good’, which was previously performed by Adam Lambert and ‘Let It Be’ which was covered by 2009 winner Kris Allen.

On her ‘Feelin Good’ rendition Katie told Entertainment Weekly:

“I basically said, ‘I’m going to do this anyway’. It’s a new season, you’re going to be compared to people no matter, so if they were going to compare me to Adam Lambert, they were going to compare me to Adam Lambert.”

“I didn’t care, it was a song I loved, and that I’ve sung before, so I wanted to do it. I didn’t even get compared to him at the end, I got the whole, ‘You need to be younger’.”

On her ‘Let It Be’ performance during Lenno and McCartney week she added:

“There was no fear… Everybody told me not to do it because Kris Allen just did it. My brother was calling me saying, ‘Katie, you’re gonna die if you do that!’. I didn’t try anything, it just came from my heart and I think that’s what worked for me.”

American Idol winner Kris Allen has signed a lucrative publishing deal with Universal Music it has been announced.

The 24 year old singer from Arkansas said:

“I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Monti Olson and the creative staff at Universal Music Publishing Group.”

Monti Olson, Senior Vice President of Universal Music Publishing Group, added, “I am proud that a songwriter of Kris’ caliber would choose to make Universal Music Publishing Group his home. I look forward to the future with Kris.”

The deal will include Kris’ first post Idol album ‘Kris Allen’ as well as his future work. Kris’ album was released in November 2009, it peaked at number 11 in the American Billboard charts and sold 286,000 copies. He recently made a return to the Idol stage singing ‘Let it Be’, check out the video here.

American Idol winner Kris Allen led a group of students on a Barefoot Walk at the at the University of Central Arkansas on Thursday.

The event was organised to highlight the plight of Rwanda’s shoeless citizens and the occurrence of a foot disease named Podoconiosis, which is caused by toxins in volcanic soil.

Clay Parker, a volunteer for charity Bridge 2 Rwanda said:

“The solution is simple, shoes. Podo is preventable by wearing shoes. (Bridge2Rwanda) supports the TOMS business model of buying one and giving one pair of shoes.”

Allen and his wife, Katie, recently visited Rwanda as part of TOMS shoes’ campaign and before the walk, Allen performed a few songs and spoke about his recent trip where he also performed for the Rwandan president.

“Everytime you go over there to help people, you always come back transformed and this is no different.” Allen told his fans.

Adam Lamert On Beatweek Cover 14/04/2010

Adam Lambert’s career is going from strength to strength and hardly a week passes where he isn’t on the cover of one magazine or another. Next week the American Idol star will appear on the cover of ‘Beatweek’ magazine and will reveal more details about his upcoming mentoring stint on the show that made him famous.

Adam will mentor the final nine contestants for this week’s live show and revealed that he was happy to be asked and is not short of ideas for the hopefuls. He said:

When they asked me to be a mentor I thought ‘cool, that sounds great.’ When I watched the past couple of years before auditioning for it, I always had ideas, I always had my own kind of opinions about the contestants.

On the lack of animosity between him and the man who snatched the American Idol crown from his hands last year, Kris Allen, Adam added:

“We should focus on our similarities as opposed to our differences and learn how to coexist. Kris and I were very different, but we get along great because we were both willing and wanted to and had the desire to get along.”

We can’t wait to see how Adam does on Idol this week! One thing you can say about the star……..he’s never boring!

Showing exactly why he won last year’s series of American Idol, Kris Allen made his return to the show last night. He gave a heartfelt and touching performance of the classic track ‘Let It Be.’

Last week Kris visited Haiti with the United Nations Foundation and when he came home recorded The Beatles track. He performed it last night in front of footage from his trip.

“There’s a lot of devastation, a lot of destruction … but there’s a lot of hope, there’s a lot of organizations there that are building things back, and I think it’s going to be better than it was,” Allen said about the conditions on the island.

Allen’s performance of “Let It Be” was immediately available on iTunes after the show, with all proceeds going to Haiti relief.

Kris Allen has signed his first record deal after winning American Idol.

Billboard reports that Kris has signed with 19 Recordings, a division of Jive Records, and his album will be released later this year.

Kris released a statement saying: “As exciting as the last few months have been, I’m really looking forward to what is next.”

He revealed that his album would contain tracks “definitely in the pop/rock genre”.

The chairman and CEO of Jive, Barry Weiss, said :

“He’s a super-talented singer and all-around gifted musician who has that rare common touch which will give him the ability to connect with the broadest possible audience,” he said of the Arkansas native.

American Idolw inner Kris Allen has revealed that he and his wife are not ready to start a family.

The man who doesn’t even look old enough to be married, told People that “now would not be a good time” to have children.

“We do not have any plans to start a family,” he said. “Right now would not be a good time – I don’t think that I would ever be around, so we are definitely gonna hold off on that for a while.”

Allen also said that his wife would not be joining him on tour.

“My wife is not going to go with me on tour. She’s still got a job so she’s going to work,” he explained. “She doesn’t want to follow me around and I don’t blame her.”
