Emily Symons has survived another elimination and escaped being in the bottom twos couples tonight in ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

I think that most people would agree that Emily should have left the competition last week, if not before, but somehow she keeps surviving the public vote. Sympathy is a fantastic emotion, but at this stage people should really be voting on the basis of skill and not on personality.

I think it was unfair that Lee had to leave tonight, but as he ended up in the bottom two with Clare Buckfield it wasn’t at all surprising. The judges were unanimous, they saved Clare. Hopefully after this Clare will make the final and Emily will leave next week. A Duncan, Clare, Kyran final is only right.

View the original post Lee Sharpe Leaves Dancing On Ice on Unreality TV

Dancing On Ice: Lee Sharpe’s Injuries

Dancing On Ice

Lee Sharpe

In an interview with The Daily Record today, Lee Sharpe rattled off his extensive list of injuries which he has sustained since beginning rehearsals for Dancing On ice. They just have to concentrate on looking nice and smiling in front of the cameras. They only have to be lifted up by their partners.

“Because they are mostly singers and actresses they are used to acting up in front of the cameras, which helps.”

I would be inclined to agree with Lee and in fact I started a thread over on our forum saying this exact thing. When the required element last week involved skaters skating independently of their partners, most of the girls struggled, while the men excelled. I think Lee has made an excellent point, but I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes when he meets up with the girls later this week.

View the original post Dancing On Ice: Lee Sharpe Thinks Girls Have It Easy on Unreality TV

Stephen Gately and Kristina Cousins Leave Dancing on Ice

Dancing On Ice

Reality TV

Clare Buckfield

Duncan James

Emily Symons

Kay Burley

kyran bracken

Lee Sharpe

Lisa Scott Lee

Stephen Gately

The competition is opened each week with world famous Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean giving us a sensational routine followed by manoeuvres expected that night from the competitors. They kept us on the edge of our seats and holding our breaths as they flawlessly went through their very dangerous routine earning 26 out of 30 points.

Lisa Scott-Lee and partner Matt Evers tied in second place with ClareBuckfield and Andrei Lipanov earning 23.5 points. The competition is exceptionally close and we are enjoying very advanced skating from the top couples.

Not far behind with 23 points were Emily Symons and Daniel Whiston who received high praise from the very critical judge, Jason Gardiner. He commented that Emily’s performance had been ‘sublime’. It has been reported that Emily and her boyfriend have recently broken up because of the demand on her time between ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Dancing on Ice’ and although being very upset and in great pain because of landing on her coccyx during rehearsals, they pulled off beautiful lifts and twirls with elegant lines and grace.

Hours before the show, Lee Sharpe’s partner, Frankie Poultney had dislocated her wrist bone but, although also in much pain, they pulled off the good lifts and the ‘wrist ripper’. It was a surprise to see them in the bottom two for the skate off but they were saved by all five judges who chose them to stay and Stephen and Kristina to go. Lee was encouraged to work on his performance, more smiles and improve on his upper body.

Lisa Scott Lee and partner Matt Evers wowed us with their ‘sit lift’, reaching great heights and their low spin with her head almost smashing onto the ice. A very exciting and dangerous routine, putting them in the top three.

By judge’s points, Kay Burley and Fred Palascak were in the bottom two but the public votes saved them from the skate off. She looked really cute in her red skating boots, matching her short red dress.

Duncan James, with his new ‘weird’ hairdo, and Maria Flippox received 21.5 points this week and will have to pull off something new and exciting next week to keep up with the top skaters and make the top three.

Seven intense couples will compete next week to remain in ‘Dancing on Ice’. Who will be the next to go?

View the original post Stephen Gately and Kristina Cousins Leave Dancing on Ice on Unreality TV

Dancing On Ice 2007: Lee Sharpe To Lay Off The Booze!

Dancing On Ice

Lee Sharpe

Ex-Footballer Lee Sharpe has vowed to lay off the booze for eight weeks during his stint on ITVs Dancing On Ice, because he just can’t skate with a hangover. “We’ve been doing two hours of training a day for the last three months and there’s just no way you can skate with a hangover,â€? he [...]

View the original post Dancing On Ice 2007: Lee Sharpe To Lay Off The Booze! on Unreality TV

Ex-Footballer Lee Sharpe has vowed to lay off the booze for eight weeks during his stint on ITVs Dancing On Ice, because he just can’t skate with a hangover.

“We’ve been doing two hours of training a day for the last three months and there’s just no way you can skate with a hangover,â€? he said. “You need to be able to concentrate on what you’re doing.â€?

Maybe the break will do him good….it’s better than a Carol Vorderman detox.

View the original post Dancing On Ice 2007: Lee Sharpe To Lay Off The Booze! on Unreality TV

Dancing On Ice 2007: Profile Of Lee Sharpe

Dancing On Ice

Lee Sharpe

Lee Stuart Sharpe, (born May 27, 1971 in Halesowen, West Midlands), is an English football player currently playing for Garforth Town. Predominantly a left winger, Lee once played for Manchester United and was one of the most promising young players in English football, but his career went into rapid decline at an early age. He has achieved renewed fame by appearing on reality television shows.

Professional football career

Sharpe began his career at Torquay United. However, in his first season with them (1987-88), after only 16 games, Manchester United noted his potential and swooped to sign him in June for £200,000, a record fee at the time for a YTS player.

He soon broke into the first team, initially playing out of position at left back before replacing Ralph Milne as left-winger in the 1990-91 season. His performances were outstanding, and he played a key part in United’s success in the European Cup Winners’ Cup that season.

Having established himself as a fantastic left winger, Sharpe earned a call up to the England squad, although he was unable to replace John Barnes as first choice left winger. Unfortunately, he was then out of the game for long periods of time through injury and illness (he suffered from viral meningitis) and when his fitness recovered the form of Ryan Giggs meant he had to play out of position at left back or on the right wing, competing for a place with Andrei Kanchelskis. In total he played 265 games for the Red Devils during eight years there, scoring 36 goals.

Despite his injury history, Leeds United signed him for £4.5 million in the summer of 1996, making him their record signing. Unfortunately, his time at Leeds was beset by further injuries. He made 26 Premiership appearances in 1996-97, scoring five goals, but a pre-season knee injury ruled him out for the entire 1997-98 season and he was unable to regain his place in the team on recovery.

In the autumn of 1998, Lee Sharpe was loaned to Italian Serie A strugglers Sampdoria, but soon fell out of favour and in the New Year he returned to England. A £250,000 fee took him to Bradford City in March 1999 and he was a key player in securing the club’s promotion to the Premiership after 77 years outside the top division. He also helped preserve the club’s Premiership status in 1999-00.

In 2000-01, Sharpe lost his place in the Bradford team and just before Christmas went on loan to Division One Portsmouth F.C. He returned to Bradford during the 2001-02 season but when his contract expired at the end of the season he was given a free transfer. A brief spell at Exeter City then followed before he moved to Grindavík in Iceland. In June 2003 he announced his retirement from first class football at the age of 32.

During 2003-04, Lee Sharpe made a brief return to football in the Kidderminster Sunday League before signing for Northern Counties East Premier League side Garforth Town the following summer.

Lee Sharpe was capped 8 times by the England team between 1991 and 1995.

Clubs

* EnglandTorquay United (1987-1988)
* EnglandManchester United (1988-1996)
* EnglandLeeds United (1996-1999)
* ItalySampdoria (1998, loan)
* EnglandBradford City (1999-2002)
* EnglandExeter City (2002-2003)
* IcelandGrindavík (2003-2004)
* EnglandGarforth Town (2004)

After football

He appeared as a competitor in the 2005, ITV television show Celebrity Wrestling, under the name “Sharpe Shooter”.

In 2004 and 2006, he worked as a football pundit for ESPN Star in Asia, and along with Les Ferdinand, is a celebrity host on the game show Kickoff where he is also known as “Sharpy” .

In addition to his top class appearance in Celebrity Wrestling, he also appeared in Celebrity Love Island. During his time on the Island Mr Sharpe has courted the attentions of many of the show’s beautiful ladies, most notably TV presenter Jayne Middlemiss, who confessed to “never having felt like this before about someone”. Later he moved onto Abi Titmuss.

On 25 August 2005 Lee released an autobiography called My Idea of Fun about his time as a footballer and the consequent fame he achieved.

Lee Sharpe is set to appear in an episode of footballing drama Dream Team.

Lee is also a pundit on BBC’s Match of the Day 2 and Football Focus.

Lee Sharpe writing a world cup blog from Germany with video clips and photos for Yahoo.

16th November 2006 is the first year anniversary of Sharpe’s trip to York to watch a university graduation.
