Let's Dance For Comic Relief

The Bill actors Lisa Maxwell & Patrick Robinson and sports stars Martin Offiah & Denise Lewis have strutted their stuff straight into next Saturday’s final of Let’s Dance For Comic Relief, following their showstopping performances in the third and last heat of the series.

Presenters Claudia Winkleman and Steve Jones announced that the viewers had chosen Lisa Maxwell & Patrick Robinson as their favourite, the fifth act to win a place in the final on Saturday 14 March after performing a phenomenal homage to Riverdance.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Fern Britton

Wow!!! If there was ever a fantastic advertisement for gastric band surgery then it has to be Fern Britton.

On tonight’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief Fern Britton danced to Singing In The Rain and she was brilliant. She was wearing a glam, fitted shiny raincoat with the most fabulous shoes. She had great rhythm, great moves and looked amazing!

Earlier this week Fern begged This Morning viewers to vote for her and I imagine if they come out in force she’ll sail through to the final rounds!

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Suggs & Zoe Ball

Well you learn something new everyday. Just before this pair kicked off their performance on tonight’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief, Zoe revealed that the first time she met Suggs was when he sang at her wedding ….weird!

The pair took on cool Pulp Fiction track ‘Never Can Tell’ and were dressed up as Jon Travolta and Uma Thurman. It wasn’t the funniest dance of the night but it was quite possibly the best.

That Zoe really rocks on the dancefloor, though I suppose given her and her husbands career it’s not really surprising!

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Dom Joly

dom-joly

Dom Joly the comedian??? I have no idea who he is but the people at Comic Relief assure me that he is a star so that’s good enough for me.

Tonight on Let’s Dance Dom danced to MC Hammer track ‘You Can’t Touch This’, baggy trousers and all.

It seems that the comedians are excelling in this show, already through to the final are Robert Webb and Jo Brand. I imagine Dom will be following in their footsteps, he was hilarious on stage and the outrageous gold outfit was almost as funny as the dancing.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Angela Rippon

angelarippon

It was so weird to see Angela Rippon out of her business suit and in a strippers getup on tonight’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief!

Angela danced to Big Spender, with BIG hair and a tight sparkly and short dress that left very little to the imagination.

As a newsreader Angela has become a bit of a national institution and even though her dancing really wasn’t up to much she deserves a heap of respect just for giving it her best shot tonight.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Schofield Begs Viewers To Vote For Fern Britton

fernbritton

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has begged viewers to vote for his partner Fern Britton when she appears on Let’s Dance For Comic Relief this Saturday night.

On the ITV show today Phil said: “Please keep her in, my life will be hell on Monday if she isn’t!”

Fern revealed that rehearsing for the routine is already exhausting her saying:

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Neil Fox & Nancy Sorrell

On tonight’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief, Neil Fox & Nancy Sorrell danced to Christina Aguilera’s ‘Candyman.’

Nancy looked amazing and hubby Vic Reeves was almost visibly salivating at her getup from his seat in the audience, in fact my own husband eyes almost popped out of his sockets when she started to strip. However her facial expressions were a little bizarre and at some points the strange pouts would have reminded you a little of a blow up doll.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Blue Peter Team

Blue Peter Presenters Tim Vincent, Anthea Turner, Mark Curry, Diana Louise Jordan, Peter Duncan, Janet Ellis and Helen Skelton did the Jailhouse Rock on tonight’s Let’s dance For Comic Relief.

Paul O Grady described it as a bit of Prisoner Cell Block H, but it definitely lacked the hard looking fat women. in fact Janet Ellis looked pretty damned hot in her warden get up.

The team were surprisingly rhythmic, and Peter Duncan’s slide across the stage proved that there is life in the old dog yet! I don’t think the team will make it through to the next round but they were certainly one of the more talented teams of the night.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Dragons’ Den

Dragons’ Den trio Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne and Deborah Meaden were third up tonight on Let’s Dance For Comic Relief. They danced to ‘Lets Face The Music & Dance.’

They are a group of entrepreneurs, they took a risk, it backfired….badly! Not one of them had an ounce of rhythm and the normally ruggedly handsome Duncan Bannatyne looked all ears with his hair slicked back so tightly.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Jo Brand

It is almost inconceivable that Jo Brand won’t get through tonight’s round of Let’s Dance For Comic Relief and into the grand final of the show.

Jo performed to Britney Spears ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ and in fairness to the other contestants, she couldn’t actually dance. In fact she sort of wandered around the stage looking hilarious and trailing unwitting boys behind her.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Hollyoaks Gang

The Hollyoaks team is made up of Garnon Davies (plays Elliot Bevanhad), Ricky Whittle (plays Calvin Valentine), Dominique Jackson (plays Lauren Valentine), Nathalie Emmanuel (plays Sasha Valentine) and Loui Batley (plays Sarah Barnes).Tonight on Let’s Dance For Comic Relief they wowed us with a performance to eighties classic ‘Footloose’.

Garnon Davies (the geek in the glasses) had no rhythm but brought some much needed comedy to the routine! Loui Batley and Ricky Whittle were the stand out performers of the group but it was quite obvious that most of the team have had previous dance experience and probably started out as stage school kiddies!

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: Watch Robert Webb’s Flashdance Video!!

It was possibly the funniest TV moment in…. well weeks at least. On Saturday night Robert Webb wowed the nation with his Flashdance performance on BBC’s Let’s Dance For Comic Relief.

We liveblogged the show from the start and though I am still rather miffed that the Eastenders boys didn’t make the live final, it didn’t dampen my enthusiasm for the talent of Robert Webb.

Robert Webb through to Let’s Dance Final with Dick and Dom

robert

Let’s Dance for Comic Relief kicked off on BBC One tonight and you can catch up on all the action here. The end was quite a tense affair as the results of the public vote was revealed and for a minute I thought that both my favourite acts were going to get through to the final.

Robert Webb sailed through after winning people over with his hilarious Flashdance routine, however John Partridge and Cliff Parisi aka Minty & Christian From Eastenders were robbed as the judges put Dick and Dom through to the final show in their place.

Who was your favourite act of the night? Come on, it had to be Minty! Leave your comments below.

Let’s Dance For Comic Relief: First Show Liveblogged!

Let's Dance For Comic Relief

The BBC have kicked off with another reality TV talent show tonight, just when we were feeling withdrawal symptoms from Strictly Come Dancing. Let’s Dance is presented by Claudia Winkleman and the delectable Steve Jones.

Stay with us here as we watch the show and cover it live. Feel free to leave your comments below.

John Partridge and Cliff Parisi aka Minty & Christian From Eastenders

Wow it’s a High School Musical extravaganza! One thing I never thought I’d see is big fat Minty dancing in a basketball get up, but actually it was quite enjoyable to watch. John was a fairly accomplished dancer in comparison to Cliff, but Cliff held his own for pure comedic value. They may have been the first act of the night but I already know that they’re my favourite!

Nicky Chapman & Christopher Biggins

I know that Christopher Biggins is considered as somewhat of a national treasure, but I actually find him quite irritating most of the time. Tonight was no different and it doesn’t help that the BBC costume department made him up to look like a fat fonzy! Nicky looked the part and I wish that I could carry a skintight pair of trousers that well, but after all her talk of being  perfectionist she really wasn’t much of a dancer. She danced circles round Biggins, literally, but I don’t think that’s much of an achievment really. As Michael McIntyre said, “Why dance when you can walk!”

Robert Webb

Well before he even took to the floor tonight, Robert already had the whole comedy thing down to a T. He took on a dance from Flashdance because in his words he “makes a living from comedy, but he lives to weld!”. He is starting to dance now and I think I might have found a new favourite! Robert looked quite fetching in his black leotard, in fact my hubby said he could almost be persuaded to fancy him. Anton DuBeke called him a “complete thing of beauty,” and all the judges seemed shocked by the fact that Webb can actually really dance. Emma Bunton was  impressed by the double pirouette and the split jump, however Michael was distracted by the fact that Robert resembled a French girl he was once intimate with.

The Chefs: Paul Rankin, Sophie Grigson, John Burton Race, Nancy Lam, Kevin Woodford, Sophie Michel, Tony Tobin, Reza Mohammad and Silvana Rowe

Well its confirmed. Paul Rankin is officially talentless. He couldn’t sing on X Factor and he can’t dance on this show. I’m pretty sure that even Christopher Biggins could have pulled this routine off better than Paul. Nancy Lam should have been promoted to the front row as she looked like she was being pretty amusing in the back, I wouldn’t have minded seeing more of her.

Les Dennis

Les Dennis describes himself as “Mr Saturday Night”, I would say, maybe in the nineties…….Actually I’m pretty sure that Les Dennis didn’t appear on stage tonight, all I saw was Shane Richie in a white suit. If it was Les, then he’s not much of a dancer but he certainly is a performer. The hair was bizarre but the suit was quite snazzy, Amanda Holden look at what you’re missing ;)

Dick and Dom

Can I firstly ask, if anyone knows which one is Dick and which is Dom could you please drop me a line or even better, send me a labelled picture. Trying to work out who is who is even worse than trying to differentiate between Ant and Dec. At least they have the courtesy to always stand in the same order so as to reduce confusion. During their Blues Brother’s routine the small one was certainly the better dancer, but I really enjoyed the dance as a whole. The mini Dick and Dom was a little bit of a rip off but still quite funny and along with all the comedy and funny faces the pair could actually move and stay in time. They were Anton Du Beke’s favourite act of the night, but I still preferred Robert Webb and the Eastenders boys.

The Saturdays Perform Comic Relief Single I Just Can’t Get Enough

I like this song, I liked the original too. I am also a huge fan of The Saturdays and think the charts is ready for another feisty girl group. However the girls really need to either learn to sing live, or give serious attention to their lip synching skills. The skimpy outfits probably distracted most of the shows male viewers, but I have to say I wasn’t entirely comfortable letting my five year old son watch the performance…..way too much boobs and gusset for this time of the night IMO!

Results!

Les Dennis, Nicky Chapman and Biggins along with The Chefs are all at the bottom and going home tonight, no surprise there. The act with the highest amount of votes and definitely going through to the grand final is Robert Webb….my favourite yey!!!!! But who will follow Robert through to the final? (Save Minty, save Minty!!!).

Michael McIntyre saved the Eastenders boys, Emma saved Dick and Dom and the tiebreaker was broken by Anton Du Beke who wrongly saved Dick and Dom also. Minty was robbed!!!!!!
