Fans of The X Factor have hit out at show bosses, for dedicating so much to time to an obviously vulnerable woman, having a bit of a breakdown on Sunday night’s show.

Ceri Rees, 54, made her fourth attempt to make the bootcamp stage of the ITV series, claiming that it was Simon Cowell’s fault she had never made it past the judges rounds before.

However, it was clearly because the woman doesn’t have a note in her head and after she wailed and crowed her way though Subo’s favourite song I Dreamed A Dream and the Whitney Houston classic, I Will Always Love You all four judges gave her a no once more.

However, producers dedicated seven minutes to her cringeworthy audition and her subsequent breakdown, a fact which has angered many viewers.

Pop singer Lily Allen took to Twitter to complain about the decision to air her performance, writing:

“Ceri from Bridgend, they shouldn’t have aired that audition.”

Another fan wrote on a fan forum: “I hate the way they dedicate so much time to awful singers and people with such obvious issues!”

Ceri herself told Dermot O’Leary:

“I’ve been to The X Factor three times before, 2005, 2006 and 2008, I think the reason I haven’t got through is that Simon’s been the problem…now Simon’s not on the panel I feel as if I’ve got a better chance.”

An X Factor spokesperson told The Mirror: “Ceri has been taking singing lessons since she last appeared on the show. The welfare of our contestants is of paramount importance.”

Lily Allen has once again denied rumours that she will be joining the judging panel of The X Factor.

It had been rumoured that the ‘Smile’ hitmaker would be replacing Cheryl Cole on the ITV show, after the former Girls Aloud singer was confirmed to have landed a job on the US version and announced her decision to step down from the UK series.

However, Lily has now insisted that she has no intention of taking a role on the reality TV show and said that the only way she could be persuaded to join Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue in their hunt for a talented new singer, is if Simon Cowell threatened to “hang, draw and quarter” her.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Allen wrote:

“I’m not, I’m really really not.

“not unless Simon Cowell becomes an evil dictator and forces me to do it against my will or threatens to hang draw and quarter me which is actually not too far beyond the realms of possibility. So maybe……….(sic)”

Simon Cowell recently confirmed that Take That’s Gary Barlow will be his X factor replacement, thought ITV sources say the deal has not yet been finalised. Dannii and Louis are expected to return, though neither has yet signed their contract it has been reported.

Louis Walsh is likely to be disappointed at Lily’s announcement, as he recently admitted while she and Gary would make “good” judges, there is nothing “set in stone”.

He said: “I’ve heard people say Gary Barlow and Lily Allen could be in the running. They’d make good judges and I’d like to see Dannii back.

“There’s nothing set in stone. I haven’t seen a contract.”

Louis Walsh has admitted that he has not yet been signed up for this year’s X Factor series but approves of rumours that Simon Cowell is considering both Lily Allen and Gary Barlow as judges.

The Irish music manager – who has been at Simon’s side at the show’s judging table for all of it’s seven series – revealed that he has no idea who will be on the panel if Cowell and Cheryl Cole both leave to take a place on the American version but revealed that he would like to return and judge on the show alongside Dannii Minogue, who is also yet to be confirmed.

He told The Sun:

“I’ve heard people say Gary Barlow and Lily Allen could be in the running. They’d make good judges and I’d like to see Dannii back.”

Although he has been asked to keep the summer free, Louis has not yet signed any contracts for the ITV TV talent show and admitted:

“There’s nothing set in stone. I haven’t seen a contract.”

While Louis thinks Lily would be great on the show, she claimed this week she wasn’t interested in joining the judging panel.

She tweeted: “i’ll only do it if there’s a “pop songs in a foreign language week”(sic)”

Other rumoured names in the frame to take over as judges include former panellist Sharon Osbourne, Boyzone star Ronan Keating – who is currently a judge on the Australian version of the show – Michael Buble and Lionel Richie.

Lily Allen has denied reports that she is in talks with Simon Cowell about joining his X factor judging panel.

Newspapers had claimed that the ‘It’s Not Fair’ singer was 80% sure to be joining the lineup for the ITV reality TV show, when Cowell leaves for his American version later this year.

However, she denies speaking to anyone about the job and took to Twitter yesterday to set the record straight.

Lily wrote:

“nice to know that i’m 80% confirmed to be a judge on xfactor, anyone thinking about running it by me?”

“maybe that’s the 20% bit……….”

She later added:

“i’ll only do it if there’s a “pop songs in a foreign language week ”

So that’s that settled then. Gary Barlow has also denied rumours suggesting he will replace Simon, no word from Lionel Richie’s people just yet……..

Lily Allen and Gary Barlow have become the latest names in the X Factor frame.

Insiders told The Daily Mail that Simon Cowell is keen to get the lineup for the UK series finalised asap, after all the celebrity judging rounds begin next month and he is said to love the idea of hiring loud mouthed Lily and Take That’s musical genius for the ITV talent show.

A senior programme source told The Newspaper:

­’Contracts are due to be signed this week for the existing judges who are returning.

‘Lily Allen and Gary Barlow are the names that are being talked about to fill the vacancies.’

Contrary to recent rumours, The Mail claims that Cowell is planning to return to the UK series, but only once the live shows start and in an objective capacity. They claim that he will increase the panel to five judges, so to avoid the common deadlock situation and he will remain objective, mentoring no acts.

The source added:

‘X Factor USA is Simon’s priority but that doesn’t mean that he is going to abandon the UK

‘Even if 20million people are watching in the United States and it is a huge success, if the British show’s ratings fall, that will be seen as a failure. Nobody wants that, least of all Simon.’

Gary Barlow’s spokesperson denies he is in talks with ITV, Lily Allen’s refuses to comment and a spokeswoman for Mr Cowell said: ‘Everything is still being discussed.’

Celebrity AOL state that Lily stepped into the argument between Lloyd and Wooton after she read tweets that went back and forth between the pair…

In one tweet, Wooton wrote that Cher would be “begging to be written about in a few months.”

Lily then tweeted, “You’re a grown man for christ’s sake. she is essentially a child.

“Give the poor thing a break. I imagine she gets enough s**t from kids her own age,grown ups need not pile in.

“So she’s going through a phase, give her a break (sic).”

Wooton then tweeted a reply which read, “She’s not a “poor thing”, believe me…

“Do you have an opinion on her? She wants to be treated like an adult. What I’m doing. She’s going to need support from the press.”

Lily replied, “not really. I think she’s a kid, eventually she’ll find her feet and learn from her mistakes.

“I do think it quite strange, that someone your age would be so affected by a teenager. she’s really not hurting anyone.”

Then Cher’s father Darren got into the fray by tweeting, “why are you so negative about a pearson you dont even know ?? and write so much crap??”

This morning, Darren tweeted to Cher, “im sorry you had to wake upto this crap of @danwootton i only wish i know what his problem is with you. we love you.”

Cher then thanked Lily for defending her, tweeting, “I can’t thank u enough! Really appreciate it.”

It seems the row between Cher and Wooton began after she allegedly made negative comments about her X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole, and Wooton it would appear, took exception to them.

Cher tweeted to Wooton, “what on earth have I done to light your fire? I never said anything about cheryl, give me a break!!!!”

Wottoon replied, “Your attitude of entitlement & arrogance about the press has lit my fire.

“You’re in a very lucky position to even be written about. I also don’t believe those quotes about Cheryl were made up.”

Lily Allen is reportedly in talks with Simon Cowell about joining his all new X Factor panel.

The “Not Fair” singer is well known for her mouthy ways and tendency to speak her mind no matter what and Cowell is hoping she will step in and replace Cheryl Cole, when she joins him on the US X Factor later this year.

Lily is currently writing the score for ‘Bridget Jones The Musical’ and insiders say that although flattered to be asked, she is playing very hard to get and refusing to commit to the ITV show just yet.

A source told The Sun:

“Lily was flattered to get Simon’s call. It’s a big job and an honour to be asked. But she’s not convinced.

“She has tried to take a step back from the limelight over the last six months and doesn’t want to be thrust right back into the madness of the showbiz pantomime that comes with the show.

“She doesn’t need the money or the hassle at this stage in her life. Maybe in a few years’ time when circumstances change she will be more receptive.”

Lily is thought to have previously been approached about working on the show, however insisted last year that it wasn’t her sort of job.

She said:

“I won’t be a judge on X Factor. That’s so not the sort of thing I’d do.

Lily Allen has blasted The X Factor for being set up and too scripted.

The ‘The Fear’ singer claimed that the show is everything she hates about modern television and recommended that music fans watch Sky One’s Must Be The Music instead.

Writing on her Twitter page, Lily ranted:

X factor- FAIL. Too set up/scripted in my humble opinion. #Must be the Music

“its s**t. FACT ! Its everything that I detest about modern western culture. Cowell is the only one who really benefits.

“I don’t know how simon cowell has managed to get away with essentially copywriting the talent contest. Its beyond me, really.”

After several followers suggested that Lily was merely Jealous because she had never appeared on the show, the pregnant singer blasted:

“The fact I’ve never been on it, does not mean I’ve not been asked.

“I’d rather actually eat my own crap, than sit next to any of those goons. Except cheryl, obvs . X

“I’ve better things to do with my time than feed the nation with the notion that doing cover versions will sort your life out.”

Lily Allen has denied reports that she will be judging on this year’s X factor series.

Sources had claimed that the ‘The Fear’ singer would be joining Geri Hallwell, Natalie Imbruglia and Katy Perry as a stand in for pregnant Dannii Minogue in the nationwide auditions. Many had wondered how this would work, as permanent judge Cheryl Cole and Lily have often been openly hostile towards each other.

Allen told the Sunday Mirror: “I won’t be a judge on X Factor. That’s so not the sort of thing I’d do.

“But I wouldn’t have a problem sitting next to Cheryl. There’s no feud.

“I have nothing bad to say about her. Her song ‘Parachute’ is genius and it’s on my iPod.”

Spice Girl Geri and Torn singer Natalie have already carried out their judging duties in Glasgow and Birmingham respectively. Pixie Lott and Katy Perry will take their seats later this month.

Cheryl Cole has called Lily Allen a “little girl” after they finally met for the first time.

The X Factor judge told Glamour: “I met Lily for the first time last week. I gave her a hug and said, ‘Nice to meet you’. To which she said, ‘There is no beef’.

“Then I hear she was in the press room taking the piss and I thought, ‘She’s a little girl but I’m a 26-year-old woman and I’m not at school anymore’.”
