The BT Red Nose Desert Trek team are heading towards the finish line of their gruelling challenge.

With the all-star group – including Dermot O’Leary, Lorraine Kelly and Olly Murs – hoping to complete the excruciating 100-kilometre walk across Kenya’s inhospitable Kaisut Desert at some point today (25.02.11), the celebrities are still suffering at the hands of the scorching heat.

Walking alone in the hope of focusing on their individual efforts, emotions were running high among the trekkers when they reached base camp last night.

‘X Factor’ host Dermot explained: “There’s no two ways about it, this has been an awful lot harder than I imagined it would be. The sheer physical effort required to walk 100 kilometres in this heat is extraordinary.”

Meanwhile, emotional ‘Dancing On Ice’ star Nadia Sawalha admitted the lack of food has been getting to her to the extent that she can’t guarantee she will be able to complete the challenge.

She added: “I was so desperate for the food stop to come that every time I looked up and saw camels, my brain told me that’s where we are stopping.

“But they just kept moving. It was so demoralising – every step is painful at this point and a few of us have started to wonder whether we are going to make it.”

Elsewhere, a “determined” Lorraine Kelly explained knowing the team are raising money to help disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa is keeping them going.

She said: “When I looked at my feet this morning I thought that my big toe had doubled in size – but it was just a huge blister on the top of it.

“Every step I take feels like I’m slamming my foot down on the ground. But we’re all determined to give it every last ounce of energy and knowing that there’s so much money being raised is helping to keep us going.”

All the ups and downs of the group’s journey will be captured for a documentary which will be in the run up to Red Nose Day.

Olly Murs, Dermot O’Leary and Lorraine Kelly are having a hard time and have all been struck down with painful injuries in Kenya.

The three stars – who are currently taking part in gruelling 100-kilometre BT Red Nose Desert Trek across the African country’s inhospitable Kaisut Desert to raise vital funds for Comic Relief – are all suffering at the hands of the scorching heat.

‘X Factor’ star Olly has developed a painful case of chafing on his legs and groin area after walking 16 kilometres in just one morning yesterday (23.02.11).

He said: “It’s a severe case of nappy rash! I’ve got a lot of chafing on my legs and it’s really painful. I keep applying lubricant and cream to soothe it each morning but as soon as I put it on, we’ve got to start walking and the chafing starts all over again.”

Meanwhile, TV presenter Dermot has had his aching blisters drained by a camp medic and the usually chirpy Lorraine Kelly is suffering from painful mouth ulcers.

However, despite being forced to return to base camp and receive treatment for blood blisters yesterday – which could have become infected if they didn’t receive urgent medical attention – visually-impaired Radio 4 presenter Peter White has vowed to battle on and finish the tireless trek by Friday.

Peter said: “Come hell or high water I’m going to finish this trek on Friday. The medic that looked at my feet, who happens to be an ex-soldier, said he’s seen squaddies removed from battle for having feet as bad as mine.”

Having already reached the halfway point of the challenge – which will raise money through Comic Relief for disadvantaged people living in the UK and Africa – the team still have another 50 kilometres to go to complete the trek, with today (24.02.11) set to be the “longest and most exposed” yet.

Breakfast TV darling Lorraine Kelly first got the Gok treatment on series one of Gok’s Fashion Fix.

This week, the pair is reunited for a progress report and Gok gives the Scottish lass some more style tips for 2009.

It’s the moment Gok has always dreamed about- an invitation into LK’s boudoir.

Things get a bit saucy when Gok relaxed on Lorraine’s bed. Lorraine proceeded to jump up and down on him. “Lorraine Kelly is mounting me!” screams Gok.

Lorraine Kelly has insisted that you will never see her in a reality TV show, neither will you see her with a bad facelift or boob job.

“You’ll never catch me doing Dancing On Ice, Strictly or I’m A Celebrity,” Kelly told Celebs On Sunday magazine. “I have no desire to ice skate or eat a kangaroo’s bum.

“I love to watch them, but it’s supposed to be good fun and it always gets terribly competitive. Some people, I’ll name no names but we all know who they are, they’re so serious about it.”

The 49-year-old GMTV presenter also insisted that she will never go under the knife in the name of beauty.

“I don’t know what the effects of Botox are, but at the end of the day you’re injecting poison into your face,” she explained.

“Why would you do that? In my job I’ve seen so many plastic surgery things go wrong. I think there’ll be a time when we look back on Botox and think: ‘What were we doing?’ Elizabethan women put lead on their faces and now we know they were mad.”
