Simon Cowell has confessed that he will most likely invite his old pal Louis Walsh to return to judge on this year’s series of The X Factor.

The music mogul recently returned to the UK, to film the auditions for the 2012 series of Britain’s Got Talent, but of course what the press really wanted to know is who will be back and who will be sacked on the ITV singing show.

The TV boss revealed that he would find it difficult to drop Louis from he lineup, but Take That’s Gary’s future does not look quite so secure.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Simon – who missed the entire series of X Factor UK last year as he concentrated on his US version – explained:

“There will be some changes. It would be difficult [not to have Louis on the show].”

When asked specifically about the fate of Barlow, Cowell added:

“Some people loved Gary, some people didn’t.”

Gary is currently working with last year’s runner up Marcus Collins on his debut album, which will be released in March.

It has recently been claimed that new judge Kelly Rowland won’t be back for 2012 either, having become disillusioned with the press ‘circus’ that surrounds the show.

However Tulisa Contostavlos is hoping she will be back and is desperate for a second chance, after her act Little Mix won last month.

Louis Walsh has admitted that his fortune has been hit to the tune of £8 million, after he over invested in Irish property, before the recession.

The X Factor judge sank much of his earnings into houses and commercial property in Dublin and surrounding areas, when ireland was enjoying a fiscal boom and at the heyday of the Celtic Tiger.

However, times have changed and the former Westlife boss has lost a fortune….thankfully he’s not too worried.

Louis told The Sun:

“I don’t care.”

He added:

“Everything I bought here is worth half what it was. It could have been worse… money was never my goal.”

Walsh also has an art collection worth £5 million and six homes, so we imagine he’s not too worried about being broke when he retires….

Louis Walsh will front his own radio show next week.

The X Factor judge has been invited on to BBC Radio 2 as a guest DJ and will present a two and a half hour special on boxing day.

The Irish star will get to pick his favourite songs and singers for the festively themed show and his choices are thought to include numbers by Etta James, Westlife and we bet at least one Boyzone song will creep into the mix at some point. Louis will also talk about why he chose the tracks and what they mean to him.

A pal told The Sun:

“Louis is thrilled. He’s a real music fan and this is really up his street.

“He loves Etta James and there might be a bit of Westlife too.

“But it’s unlikely he’ll play anything from any X Factor stars like Cher Lloyd.”

The show has been pre-recorded and can be caught on 26th December, between 9.30am and 12noon.

Kelly Rowland has admitted that she has been in awe of Gary Barlow for all of this year’s X Factor series.

The brunette beauty was attending the TW Steel launch party in London last week when she explained that she has become close to the Take That star over the last few months and revealed that she admires him not just as an artist but also for being such a family man.

Rowland said:

Gary is an amazing person, I really admire him as a man. And when I say as a man, I mean as a husband, as a father, as a musician….I just think he is an incredible man. I am really happy that I got a chance to get to know him this year.

Kelly also insisted that she and Tulisa Contostavlos are totally over any issues they may have had following the Misha B scandal and claimed that she is proud of the N-Dubz star and all she achieved with her category this year. The brunette beauty said:

Me and Tulisa are more than cool. She is very sweet and I am so proud of her and what she’s done with the groups. She was the first judge to take a group to the final and my hat’s tipped off to her. We are definitely cool, I love Tulisa.

However perhaps Kelly is not so fond of Louis Walsh, as when asked which judge she would sack from the panel if she had a choice, she giggled:

Louis has been on there a long time. He needs to give somebody else a space.

X Factor judge Louis Walsh has transformed into Cheryl Cole for heat magazine’s annual Stars Dress Up photo shoot.

He said: “I texted Cheryl months ago to say I was going to dress up as her, and she said, ‘Do it!’”

He added: “I think she’ll howl with laughter when she sees it. Simon (Cowell) will love it, too, because I think he secretly likes drag queens!”

Little Mix won The X Factor last night and afterwards on The Xtra Factor, some of the show judges speculated on what it was about them that appealed to the public so much.

Destinys Child star Kelly Rowland said that the group inspired people to get behind them, explaining:

I think people wanted to see Little Mix win, they wanted to be the driving force behind these girls. When it comes to talent they’ve got it, when it comes to friendship, they’ve got it.

Louis Walsh thinks people loved the fact that they are totally different to any other winner before and added:

Little Mix were different, they were fresh they were young. Tulisa was on a mission from day one with them and they were on a mission. They changed everybody’s mind. Anybody can win if they are good enough and work hard. They are the new Girls Aloud.

Take That star and Marcus Collins’ mentor Gary Barlow admitted that it’s been a good thing for the ITV show, that a group has finally one and explained:

You know what it is great for this show that a band has at last won. It shows all the other bands out there for next year, that bands do stand a chance in this competition.

Simon Cowell has reportedly already approached Gary Barlow about returning to The X Factor next year, however the Take That star is said to have one big condition before he signs on the dotted line.

Insiders say the dad of three is adamant that he will only return to the ITV show, if Cowell’s old pal and faithful judge of eight series, Louis Walsh, is sacked.

It seems that Gary (and possibly half of the British public) has gotten fed up with Louis’ inane and repetitive comments to the acts each week and has gotten more and more irate, with every ridiculous comparison the Irish star makes. It couldn’t have helped then, when he claimed Berry Gordy was dead on last week’s show.

A source told The Mirror:

“Gary and Louis have completely different ideas of what this show is all about. Gary wants it to be a credible singing contest and Louis sees it as ­entertainment.”

“Although he’s been outspoken defending his acts and ­criticising other people’s, Gary hates all the ­pantomime rowing and thinks Louis is behind most of it.

“The thought of ­another year with Louis is just too much for him to bear. He says he will only ­consider coming back if Louis leaves.”

When we think of Goldie Cheung, Wagner Carillho, Johnny Robinson, and Jedward we can’t help but agree with Gary. Louis seems like a nice old man, but he is looking more and more antiquated on every episode and his desperate attempts to be funny blatantly don’t work.

Yes, we enjoy his silly attempts to fake Kelly Rowland’s accent and of course, his little skits on the Xtra Factor used to be quite amusing. But without Westlife to manage, and after his latest group ‘Wonderland’ bombed, he doesn’t really have any musical credibility left.

We think it’s time he was replaced and we have just the man in mind…..wasn’t Will Young saying he’d love a bit of the talent show action recently?

What is it with these X Factor judges? They are amongst some of the richest people in the UK and Ireland yet people keep giving them things for free.

It was reported last week that Tulisa Contostavlos was being investigated for overtly promoting a dentist who specialises in veneers, after she had £20,000 worth of dental work done for free earlier in the year.

Now, it has been revealed that her fellow panelist Louis Walsh had a hair transplant worth £30,000 done with no charge in the summer.

The Irish star reportedly decided to have the procedure carried out after his boss Simon Cowell taunted him about his ever increasing bald spot at the back of his head.

‘He came up to me and said “You know, you’re starting to lose your hair dear”,’ Walsh allegedly told The Mirror.

He revealed where he had the procedure done and admitted that he has even passed the surgeon’s details along to his pal Gary barlow, whi he thinks could avail of plugs over the next few years.

Louis added:

‘I keep telling Gary he needs it next. I always clock him glancing at my hair on the show. I’m giving Gary the number so hopefully he can get that bald patch at the back of his head sorted out.’

Like Jason Gardiner before him, Louis admitted that he is not at all ashamed or embarrassed about what he had done and explained:

‘If you’re getting on, and you’re on TV with a lot of young people, you have to look after yourself. So I thought “I don’t want a bald spot. I’m going to get this sorted.”

We’re hoping that the hair will be a bad omen, after all after revealing his new crop of locks, Gardiner was sacked from ITV’s Dancing On Ice panel….maybe Louis after all that effort Louis will find himself in the same boat in 2012.

Just before we head off to bed, we thought we would bring you a quick sneak peek at a few of tomorrow’s newspaper front pages.

It’s the day of the big X Factor final – part one – so of course the ITV talent show takes the lead on The Mirror and The Sun at least.

The Sun is running a story which claims that show boss Simon Cowell is throwing his weight behind Little Mix to win – much like he did for the Conservatives when they were running for government a few years ago….and look how that turned out – and so called ‘insiders’ say that he believes they can be the ‘new Spice Girls.’ We hope not.

The Mirror is running with the story that Louis Walsh has had a hair transplant, which set him back in the region of £30,000. He claims that – much like when he got the new teeth – he only did it because he was getting fed up with Simon Cowell’s constant jibes about his receding hairline.

The Mirror will also contain a story which claims that Kelly is ‘stitching up’ Amelia, so that she loses tomorrow night.

The X Factor has certainly had its fair share of drama, but a sweet relationship has developed, as Louis Walsh revealed.

The Irish star confessed that he and Tulisa Contostavlos have become close pals backstage on the ITV series and each weekend is full of singing and parties as they rehearse for the live shows.

He told The Sun’s TV Buzz:

“I’ve made really good friends with Tulisa. I spend a lot of time in her dressing room and there’s always lots of singing. It’s like a full-on party with her.”

Having managed the Over-25s last year Louid had hoped he’d be off the hook in 2011, but it wasn’t to be and explaining how he felt when he found out he’d gotten the oldies again, Walsh said:

“My funniest moment this series was when I got my category.”

“I thought, ‘They’re not going to put me with the Overs again…’

“That was really funny, but I accepted it as I knew there were some real characters.”

On a more festive note, Louis also revealed what he would buy his fellow judges, if he was feeling generous this Christmas. The former Westlife boss revealed:

“If I was secret Santa, I’d give Kelly something expensive from Versace or Galliano. Gary already has everything, so I’d get him a piece of art from Banksy. And I think Tulisa would like a really nice, blinged-out Mini.”

That’s very generous, Louis!
