Josie Gibson has exhibited her bitchy side, in catty attack on former Eastenders star Lucy Benjamin.

During appearances on Big Brother’s Little Brother, Lucy regularly made clear that she was no Josie fan. She accused the Bristol lass of using young Andrew during her time in the house and branded her a fake.

In an interview with OK, Josie hit back saying:

“This bird off EastEnders went on loads of programmes slagging me off, saying I was pathetic and I should keep my paws off John James. What’s her name again, John? That’s it, Lucy Benjaminge.

“That’s the one. She’s the one that was getting off with Phil Mitchell back in the day. I got two words to say to you Lucy Benjminge: Frizz Ease!”

When asked if Lucy would be a good choice to play her in a movie about her life, Josie laughed:

“No, not her, although she probably needs the work.”

Lucy Benjamin, the first star to be evicted from ITV’s I’m A Celebrity, has admitted that she didn’t have any sympathy for Katie Price in the jungle.

Katie faced a Bushtucker trial every day she was on the show but Lucy said that she was happy to let Katie do them, so that she wouldn’t have to.

Lucy told GMTV: “I didn’t feel sorry for her, because it meant I didn’t have to get to do the bush tucker trials, so I was just happy that she got to do them.”

When asked if she felt Katie had been an overbearing presence on the show Lucy replied:

“I’d be shocked if it came across that way because basically it was such a tight-knit camp, Katie came in – everybody welcomed her with open arms, and no, I mean I didn’t get that feeling at all. Katie was just Katie – she is who she is. She’s big and she’s kind of bold and everything, but we all took to her and she’s got a softer side and we all liked her very much. She was an integral part of our camp.”

Lucy Benjamin has become the first celebrity to be voted off ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The former Eastenders actress found herself up against remaining exile camp mates, Gino D’Acampo and Sam Fox.

When Ant and Dec said she would be leaving, Lucy replied: “I told you. It has been a pleasure.”

She said she had “mixed emotions” about leaving first.

“It is not great to be the first one out but I got to get to see my bubba and Rich (her husband Richard Taggart). Someone had to go first. It’s fine.”

We are a bit gutted by Lucy’ departure and wish that the public had been able to choose between all the camp mates. We would have voted to save Lucy and crossed our fingers that Stuart or Sabrina would go!

The first I’m A Celebrity eviction is almost upon us and the three celebrities up for the public vote are Sam Fox, Lucy Benjamin or Gino D’Acampo.

Kim, George and Stuart managed to escape exile and therefore the vote, leaving three of the best contestants behind.

Unreality TV doesn’t want to lose any of these three, we’d much rather see Stuart or Sabrina go, but if we have to choose, we’d say send Sam home! We’d love to hear your thoughts on the subject, leave your comments below.

I’m A Celebrity contestants Lucy Benjamin, Colin McAllister and Sabrina Washington were not happy bunnies on tonight’s show once they realised that they had to complete a tandem jump. With their next stop coming into view it was Lucy who quickly realised that they will be jumping out of a plane. Having revealed a fear of heights early on Sabrina screamed; “Oh God no we can’t jump out of a plane!”

As they left the helicopter, fear began to creep into all three celebrities when they were informed that they would be jumping out of the plane at 12 000 feet.

A scared Lucy then said: “I’m very nervous about it I think I’ve gone into shock.”

Having boarded the plane, they climbed ever nearer to their jump Colin attempted to lighten the mood by saying : “ …this is better than botox.”

Talking abut her prospective tandem jump, Lucy said: “It’s just that sitting on the edge before you jump that’s the worst bit!”

Sabrina said: “Mum don’t worry I’m going to be ok!”

As he prepared to leap off the plane, Colin did his hair as he wanted to look good when he landed and said that the was doing it “for Scotland.” Closing his eyes the designer jumped which caused Lucy to scream.

Next up was an apprehensive Sabrina who also closed her eyes before she jumped. Leaving actress Lucy, the only one left to jump.

A terrified Lucy screamed as she leapt from the plane. However with their feet on firm ground, the trio agreed that the whole thing had been a fabulous and unmissable experience.

Actress Lucy Benjamin is worried about her hair going wild as she prepares to embark on her jungle adventure.

The mum-of-one said she is so concerned about the state of her frizzy hair if she doesn’t have any conditioner she might have to resort to rubbing leaves into it.

But the main thing that worries Lucy about going into the jungle is missing her daughter Bessie’s fourth birthday.

She also revealed that she won’t like it if her campmates are argumentative – and she is dreading emptying the toilet.

She says: “I couldn’t be without my hair conditioner because I’ve got naturally curly hair. I’m trying to wangle getting conditioner in because otherwise I’m going to look like a mad woman. At one point I thought, ‘I’m just going to pick leaves that have got balm in them and rub them in my hair, anything.’

Lucy says the thing she will miss most while she is in the jungle is her daughter but she is going to try not to bore her campmates by talking about her too much.

“Three days is the longest I have ever been away from my daughter…in terms of what I might get thrown at me…nothing is going to be worse than my heartbreak. From the point of me leaving her and getting on that plane out there, that is going to be the worst part for me. So, if I can deal with that and get through the other side when I land I’m going to have a great time and just say, ‘I’m going to give it my best shot.’

“It’s Bessie’s birthday on November the 22nd. It will bring it all back again because I will try and be strong and it will just be awful. It will be heartbreaking but it will be great for her and her dad because I’m always butting in or being a control-freak.

“So that is what I’m going to take out of it, she and her dad bonding beyond bonding, and that’s good for them.

“I know there are going to be a lot of times where I’m going to be very upset. It will be the bored, quiet moments where you are just going, ‘Oh my god. What is she doing? Where is she now?’ …I know that there are going to be points when I will be beside myself.

Lucy says she is not looking forward to emptying the toilet and is hoping she won’t have to cook, but says she doesn’t mind cleaning.

“I don’t mind getting a bit mucky…and I don’t mind not having a wash for a few days, because if we are all in the same boat and all have the hygiene problem, that’s fine. I think that the mucking in and knowing people’s toilet habits is a bit of a weird one. The dunny situation doesn’t fill me with joy, having to clear up, especially when a man’s been in the loo. That makes me retch thinking about it. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to overcome that or if I’m going to be able to wangle my way out of it. I imagine we will have rotas and shifts to do that.

“I am a terrible cook. I just don’t know where to begin. I’m not good at chopping vegetables, I just watch everyone. I don’t even know where you begin. But I could offer to be camp cleaner. I’m happy to clean, happy to mop, sweep, carry logs, and be a bit of a skivvy. But I would hate to ruin something as precious as a meal somebody has won and muck it up. That would be a disaster. If somebody wants to direct me and say ‘Keep and eye on that’, that’s fine, but I would never offer myself up as camp cook, ever.”

When it comes to the trials, Lucy reckons they’re all pretty awful, especially the ones with creatures that fly, buzz, bite, and crawl up your nose.

She adds: “It’s a funny one, because when you talk about the jungle, I can’t relate it to anything at home like spiders or anything because it is just a different league. So, spiders at home, I’m okay, it’s just the hairy ones. I’m not good with them. I’m not a big fan of butterflies or moths or birds and things flying around.”

She is hoping to steer clear of confrontation.

She says: “I think I probably like to try and do that in life anyway and I don’t know if that’s the art of being an actress or if that just makes you a bit nicer and more able to get on and deal with people. I’m hoping that no one is going to make me lose my temper, that I will be able to pull it back and not become too confrontational.

“I’m very honest, that’s the thing, I’m quite open and people say to me that I have my feelings written all over my face. I’m not going to sit there and be deemed offish. I’d rather say something, not in a horrible confrontational way, but I’d rather it just be out. I don’t like atmospheres, I can’t bear misery, and I can’t bear situations where people don’t talk. I couldn’t do that, so I’d rather have it out and just clear the air. And if two people are being like that, try and resolve it and say, ‘Look come on, please, this is vile.’ Because I think this has such a knock-on effect, that’s what I can’t bear…At first I find it kind of amusing when people are having a kind of set-to.”

If Lucy comes across someone being grumpy or uncommunicative she says her solution is to try even harder with them.

She says: “What annoys me is people who don’t try or are grumpy, mono-syllabic, or negative; people who don’t give and who are not very generous. Then I work ten to the dozen, chat, chat, chat just getting one word answers and I end up making myself look a bit of a prat really. I fill in for them, fill in the gaps and try to make everyone feel really nice and that is my worry – that there is going to be a grumpy old misery guts.

“I like people that are honest, up-front and open. I don’t like people who are cagey and a closed book. I like someone who is willing to be as open as I am about something – not spilling their life guts but just an open person that’s warm. I like warmth in a person. It’s that sort of person I will get on with easily. I tend to know very early on if you have got somebody like that. I don’t like people who are superior and look down their noses and are judgemental. I’m a bit worried about those sorts of things really.”

Lucy hopes the jungle will show her what she is made of.

She says: “I want to see how far I can push myself in terms of the kind of place you find yourself in mentally and seeing if I can go through with the Bushtucker trials and living with complete strangers without it sending you over the edge.

“I think that what I’m trying to get out of this is to feel I have done myself proud and come out of it quite well. Because of the whole Bessie thing I could sit and cry all day and if I can cope, get through by strength of character that is where I’m heading.

“I can sit in camp and think about things a lot more. I’m a million mile per hour person, I talk fast, do everything fast, run to the shop. People say I’m not very calm and a bit nuts so it will be nice to get a sense of calm, which I can hopefully bring outside and use.”

Matt Stevens narrowly missed out on winning by only a few percent, and actually looked quite upset to have lost.

I am a bit surprised by how seriously some of the celebrities took the competition. It was never a real singing competiion, due to the fact that most of them (no matter how entertaining) couldn’t actually sing.

All the celebrities have careers already established, and somehow I can’t see Matt Stevens or Paul Rankin quitting their day jobs to become a full time pop singer.

All the celebrities that is, except for the detestable Rebecca Loos and almost as horrid James Hewitt. I hope they disappear into the abyss of has-beens and never grace our television screens ever, ever, ever agin!

I think that if Chris Moyles couldn’t win then Lucy was the next best thing, and to be honest it was nice to see a woman winning for a change. Maybe it’s a sign of things to come for the next series proper!

Lucy Benjamin (born 25 June 1970) is a British actress.

Born Lucy Jane Baker in Reading, Berkshire, England, she took the stage name of Benjamin after her brother. Her first acting role was as a child actor in Doctor Who in 1983. In 1989 she starred in the children’s television programme Press Gang, where she played ‘Julie Craig’ until 1993. In 1995 she appeared in the Rik Mayall comedy Bottom. However she is probably best known for her role as Lisa Fowler in the BBC soap opera EastEnders which she played from 1998-2003.

During her time on EastEnders she was involved in one of the soap’s most renown and highly anticipated storylines, known as Who shot Phil? (2001). The storyline centred around the shooting of her on-screen lover Phil Mitchell and who, out of the many potential candidates, actually performed the dastardly deed. Several suspects ermerged and the audience was kept in the dark as to who the actual murderer was for many weeks. Lucy’s character was eventually unveiled as the shooter. However, despite her heavy involvement in the memorable plot, Lucy was asked to leave the soap in 2002 as producers felt her character had run its course and there was no story options left for her at present. She was asked back for a short period in 2003 however, to help with the oncoming exit of Steve McFadden, who was taking a hiatus from the hit soap.

Lucy’s offscreen relationship with EastEnders co-star Steve McFadden was much publicised in the British tabloid press during her time on the show. The relationship allegedly ended after McFadden was caught cheating on her with an ex-lover and the pair split in 2003.

Since leaving Eastenders Lucy has appeared in the BBC television programme ‘The Afternoon Play’, and the BBC hospital drama Casualty.

In April 2006 it was reported in The Daily Mirror that Lucy is in talks with EastEnders about reprising the role of Lisa Fowler, but it has yet to be confirmed by the BBC.
