I’m A Celebrity campmates, Biggins and Lynne have said they both hope Janice doesn’t become Queen of the Jungle with the PR guru branding her “mean” and “obnoxious”.

As they were getting ready for an adventure retrieving the Celebrity Chest, Lynne said: “It’s Janice that I want to kill again today, She takes over, I hate her. They (viewers) must like her, they keep voting her in, as long as they can see she is obnoxious. On Jonathan Ross she was amazingly obnoxious.”

Biggins said: “She’s funny and she’s amusing.”

Lynne: “Well as long as they can see how obnoxious she is, do they find her funny in her awfulness is that what it is? It’s not funny because the meanness is there, sometimes she can be kind but only when it shows her in a good light.”

Biggins said: “She won’t win.”

“Oh I hope not,” said Lynne. “I hope she doesn’t win, it’s not fair, and she’s not a very nice person. I can take funniness. That story about going out with Eric Idle and his wife, I guarantee it happened once.”

Biggins: “She has no powers of observation… the other day when I had that blue leotard on, she didn’t even notice for 20 minutes, walked right past me.”

Lynne added: “She’s a bore and a liar, limited intelligence. When I first met her we were talking about a very close friend of mine that used to work with her as well she died of cancer and I asked her if she’d gone to see her and she said ‘no’, she’s mean, mean, mean.”

The boyfriend of PR guru, Lynne Franks has claimed that the shows editors are making her look stupid in the jungle, so much so that he has stopped watching the show.

John Amy told the Mirror: “Lynne is very successful but they’ve made her into a bit of a laughing stock on the show. She’s not like that at all in real life.

“Everything she’s showing on there, like the chanting and the positive thinking, actually works. It works for her and for other people. The producers have focused on one aspect of her, but there’s more to her than that.

“I didn’t like the way it was edited. They made her look like a complete idiot.”

He added:

“I don’t like bullying and I can’t watch the show,” he said. “Lynne can look after herself. She’s a woman of substance. She’s not a shallow actor.”

Paranoid Lynne has decided one of her campmates has got it in for her after her coat went missing and her hairclip got broken.

As the contestants woke, Lynne discovered her coat was missing and it sparked a debate about where it could have gone.

Lynne was sat on Janice’s bed as the discussion unfolded. Rodney said to Janice: “If you have hidden it under your bed just to piss her off.”

Janice snapped: “I wouldn’t do that.”

Lynne said: “There’s a big lump under me.”

Janice snarled: “It’s my sleeping bag, there’s a big lump around your waist.”

Lynne said: “I have been looking for my jacket for twenty minutes now. It’s really weird because yesterday I lost my hair clip and somebody had stamped on it and it was all destroyed.”

Rodney said: “I think you might have somebody in the camp who’s trying to piss you off.”

Lynne: “They are succeeding.”

Rodney: “I’m not grassing anybody up, but I saw somebody last night jumping up and down. I can’t tell you who it was.”

One of the other campmates said: “Let’s talk about something else.”

Rodney said: “What, other than that fucking coat?’

Lynne: “It’ll show up destroyed, like my clip.”

But a few minutes later Rodney found Lynne’s coat hidden in Janice’s bed.

Later J told the Bush Telegraph: “I’m quite certain that Rodney put Lynne’s coat in Janice’s bed, just trying to have a little muck around.”

When Rodney recovered the coat Janice said: “I didn’t do that.”

Cerys said: “I think it was just left there.”

Janice said: “I did not do that, you guys are fucking with me.”

Janice and Lynne were forced to work as a team for the Bushtucker Trial as Lynne sported a suit covered in ostrich food and was lowered into a pen of hungry ostriches by Janice.

As the pair turned up to do the trial Janice saw the birds and yelled: “Are you kidding me? Are we going to have to ride those puppies?”

Ant and Dec then asked Janice what she thought the trial – named Nip and Pluck – involved.

Janice replied: “I thought it was a hot plastic surgeon. I was happy to come today.”

Ant explained: “Basically it’s very simple this trial, it’s like a game arcade grab machine. You know those machines where you use the claw and you grab things then you move it back? It’s like one of those but instead of little fluffy toys we have these ostriches.

“The pair of you has to work together as a team. One of you will be operating the claw from here, the other will be the claw. You will sit on this chair and you’ll be moved around by the operator and you have to collect the stars with your feet and put them in the basket at the other end of the pen. All of this while wearing the ostrich food suit.”

Immediately Lynne said: “Of course I’ll be the one who wears the suit, don’t worry.”

Janice said: “I’ll operate.”

Lynne said sarcastically: “That surprises me.”

Janice said: “It’s because I’m a really good operator.”

Lynne: “So when I say, ‘Janice, can you just take me a little bit to the left a little bit to the right’, you’ll just calmly do that right? Please.”

Janice: “Look at me, I have two children, you are under my umbrella, we are going to win this thing and there’s more of you to pluck.”

Gesturing about her own body she said: “There’s nothing to pluck, they’re going to love you.”

Lynne said: “Did you hear what I just said then?”

Janice said: “Yes”

Lynne: “So when I say to you, because I’m going to be down in the pit.”

Janice: “I heard it thank you.”

Ant and Dec explained that the pair had ten minutes to get 11 stars then Ant said: “It’s up to you to decide who’s going to do what.”

Janice said: “I’ll drive, she’ll be plucked.”

Lynne said: “So which do you think is a tougher job?”

Janice: “Me? Driving.”

Lynne said: “You don’t think it’s going to be difficult sitting in that seat?”

But Janice replied: “No Lynne, I’m going to guide you. You’re going to be the captain and I’ll be the co-pilot.”

Lynne said: “And that’s how you see it?”

Janice: “I do. I’m a great driver.”

Once Lynne got in the bright orange suit, which was covered in bird seed and had three buckets of bird food attached to it, Janice said: “That’s a great colour on you Lynne.”

Lynne said: “Janice, just be calm and stop performing and just help me please. Please, I’m just asking you, that’s all I’ll ever ask you in my life.”

Lynne climbed into the seat and got ready for the trial to start, but Janice lowered her straight away, without moving her near to a star.

Lynne yelled: “You have lowered me in the wrong place, but, never mind, take me straight ahead. Quickly, we have only got ten minutes Janice move it now. Will someone…Janice please.”

Lynne managed to get one star between her feet but then Janice sent her flying straight into an ostrich. Lynne was not happy and started barking orders about where she wanted Janice to take her. After three minutes they had managed to get one star and Lynne was constantly shouting at Janice.

Janice said: “Lynne, you better stop or else I’ll back you right into an ostrich’s ass so fast it’s going to make your head spin.”

But despite her warning Lynne continued to shout at Janice. Janice said: “I’m going as fast as the buttons are getting me there kitty-kat.”

After getting two stars Lynne said to Janice: “Well done darling.” But Janice snapped: “I’m not your darling.”

The bitching continued until the pair got seven stars. Janice said: ‘Well done Lynnskers.”

But stern Lynne replied: “Don’t say a word Janice, please.”

As the trial ended Ant said to Janice: “Can you bring her back over here?”

But Janice snarled: “No, I’m letting her walk. Say, ‘I love you Janice’ and I’ll let you out.”

Lynne said: “I love you Janice, you only had to ask.”

After the trial Lynne told Ant and Dec: “There’s one person who will be surprised. Mr Rodney Marsh said, ‘this is going to be a disaster’.”

To which Janice replied: “He’s an old prick.”

Lynne and Janice’s truce was broken yet again with a row over wood for the campfire. Lynne was worried that they might run out of logs overnight and was fussing around camp.

“Go get the wood,” Janice told Lynn. Lynn snapped back. “All right Janice, That’s the kind of thing that makes me want to go over and tip your bed over. Fuck off!” Lynne left the camp to look for wood and shouted to Janice: “You’ve been very bratty again this afternoon.”

Janice was clearly riled by Lynne’s comments and said to J: “You and I have been on to it all day. Get off your fat ass and do it (about Lynne).”

J replied: “It’s not that. There’s no need to stress about getting wood for the fire. We’re in a forest.”

Janice joked to J: “You know what women do in Papua New Guinea. They wait for other women go to sleep and then they stab them. She owes me an apology. I almost killed myself today so she can eat.”

J was sympathetic and said: “I think she needs to eat.” But Janice replied: “She needs to diet!”

Later Lynne said: “I’ve got very tired and somehow I’ve taken the role of the worrier, so that kind of motherly and grandmotherly mentality, which I am checking back with everybody as to what they want to do as well and respecting that.

“I did snap at Janice tonight which I did apologise for. I’ve done more housework in the past two days than I’ve done for a very long time.”

“I think there is true love between me and Janice and there is a connection. She goes up and down and I go down and up. She’s an amazing woman. She did get on my nerves but I really respect her.”

Lynne Franks sees taking part in I’m A Celebrity as a great challenge and says she’s doing it both for herself and other women of her age: “The older woman, that’s who I’m doing it for – me and them,” she confesses.

Lynne is one of the best-known public PR consultants in the world, she’s a commentator on women’s issues and an entrepreneur and author.

She is reputedly the inspiration for Edina in Absolutely Fabulous although she says: “If people think I’m coming on as Edina, well, it was never me in the first place, but there were aspects, there were definitely aspects. I might even say ‘sweetie-darling’ a few times.”

Although she’s lived an incredibly varied and successful life, Lynne says she can’t think of any practical skills she can use in the camp.

“I’m completely impractical. I’ll volunteer to do what I have to do but I’m not the greatest cook in the world. The skills that I’m taking are just more the wisdom of the older woman. I wouldn’t have a clue how to make a fire. Don’t they give matches?“

Although confessing to a lack of practical skills, Lynne did battle against the elements on a trip to the Amazon two years ago.

“I was travelling around the Amazon, swimming up the river and not realising how dangerous it was. I was swimming in the Amazon for about two hours and afterwards the guide told us it was dangerous because of the killer fish, and there were alligators as well, but the worst thing, which they told me afterwards, was that if I pee in the water there are these tiny fish that follow your stream. They didn’t tell me before I did it and we were all swimming up but I was swimming the most. I really liked it. I like being in the water, I could swim for hours.’

“I went with a group of Americans who were spending time with one of the tribes in the Amazon. We were fighting the oil companies that were taking over and destroying the rainforest. We were supporting the Indians and really supporting the whole organisation that is behind taking the wisdom of the Indians, the old ways, out to the Western world, and for us to learn from them, and also to give them our skills and abilities to publicise what’s going on over there with the oil companies destroying their habitats. It was amazing, fantastic.”

Although this experience was exciting enough Lynne says that the most adventurous thing she’s ever done is going to Glastonbury.

On being asked to take part in the show, she says: “It was a shock when I was asked if I was interested and when I thought about it deeply I thought it was an amazing challenge for me on a personal level – to come up to my 60th birthday and do something like this. It really is like, well if not now, then when?

“It gives me an opportunity to put in to practise the stuff that I teach – can we live in co-operation, men and women in a small community? Use each other’s strength and support each other? That’s really interesting. I also think it is an opportunity for me as a woman of nearly 60, overweight, quite normal. Actually I shouldn’t say overweight because I put myself down and hopefully I’ll be underweight when I get out of there. I’m just a normal woman really.”

Lynne reveals that I’m A Celebrity is the only reality television show she would consider doing:

“I think it’s psychologically fascinating to see how people interact together. It’s the only one I would have done to be honest. I think its going to be a huge challenge for me.

“Last year I thought Jason Donavan was pretty cool, as was Myleene Klass and Matt. I thought David Gest was a bit too much personally, although he was slightly amusing. I didn’t fall in love with him like the rest of the world. I think that the genuine rapport and friendship that grew out of the camp was what I found most appealing.

“I found it very nice to see people really supporting each other and I also think ‘don’t flip out!’ Jan Leeming did flip out a lot, maybe I will. I’m not afraid of screaming, or being scared and showing that, or crying.

“I’m the sort of person that cries at some soppy children’s movie. I mean I love to have a good old cry. So will I have a good old cry in the jungle? I hope so.”

Although she says she can be bossy at times, and has the irritating habit of finishing people’s sentences for them, she describes herself as a compassionate, warm and open-hearted woman.

Lynne divides her time between homes in Oxford and Notting Hill Gate. She has two children, Joshua, 31, who is a stand up comic, and daughter Jessica Cato, 29, who lives in Majorca with her musician husband and two young daughters.

While in the jungle the thing Lynne will miss the most is her freedom, along with her new puppy Noodle, a comfy bed and her own toilet.

The issue of the toilet is one of Lynne’s worries along with the constant scrutiny she will be under: “You know if I wake up in the middle of the night knowing I’m snoring or other things, and I get up and need a pee, because of the Carol Thatcher incident, I will definitely make it to the loo, and in the dark.”

If the pressure gets too much we can expect to see Lynne dancing around the camp, “I’m a very freestyle dancer. I’ve been dancing since I was a kid and I love it. It’s a kind of spiritual thing for me. I go in a trance when I dance.”

So when it comes to the Bushtucker Trials will she be able to cope? “I don’t want to do any Bushtucker trials actually, but I’m sure I will. I don’t mind creepy crawlies and I don’t mind eating anything gross, I have to just keep remembering the mantra, ‘I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely disgusting and horrible but it’s not going to kill me’.”

Lynne will be teaching at a retreat in Spain before going to the jungle and says that this will help her to prepare as she will be able to take long mountain walks and swim naked in the cold sea, something she loves to do. But TV viewers won’t see Lynne strip off in the jungle.

She says: “I never wear a swimming costume in Mallorca but I don’t think I’ll be doing that in the jungle.”
