Matthew Wolfenden has reportedly been told that he needs to steer clear of the spray tans, if he wants to keep his day job.

The Emmerdale actor is currently starring on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, where of course it’s almost a legal requirement to be as orange as possible, however producers of the soap feel that a tangoed shop keeper would not fit in particularly well with their storylines, or with the rural based show and have told him that he needs to stay pasty white for filming.

Instead, Matt is now opting for wash on, wash off tans so that he can go from having a healthy glow, to a pasty pallor in a matters of minutes.

A show insider told The Daily Star:

“It would look really odd if one day he’s walking through the village with a tan in the middle of winter.”

Matthew will return to Dancing On Ice this weekend, with a romantic and loved up routine and smoochy music for the Valentines Day themed episode.

He has been a front runner on the show so far, ruling the top of the judges’ leaderboard each week, along with Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter.

However, it has been reported that Matt is still struggling with a previous back injury, which threatened to put him of the ice entirely last week, and insiders say the star is worried that his cut back in rehearsal time, could impact his performance this weekend.

Dancing On Ice bosses have reportedly sent a memo around all their remaining celebrity contestants, telling them that they need to stop the late night boozing sessions each Sunday night.

Insiders claim that the famous hopefuls are so relieved each weekend, when the live show ends and the pressure lifts for a few hours, that they hit the backstage bar with a vengeance. Often, the party then moves to the residents bar at a nearby Holiday Inn hotel, where a number of the contestants are staying.

It has been reported that a number of the stars are hung over or still under the influence by the time Monday’s rehearsals and press interviews roll around and now the producers have stepped in.

A source told The Sun that bosses have warned that anyone found drinking after midnight on a Sunday, will be dropped from the show. They added:

“If they don’t obey the rules they could be skating off earlier than they thought.”

We can’t imagine stars such as Matthew Wolfenden, Chico or Rosemary Conley taking well to being ordered about like children. Could it be that bosses may have pushed things a bit too far?

Meanwhile, Charlene Tilton became the latest star to be voted off the show last night, after finding herself in the skateoff for the third time, this time against children’s TV presenter Sam Nixon. The judges voted unanimously to save Sam, though we think he should have went just because of his awful wig alone.

Matthew Wolfenden had a bit of a tough week on Dancing on Ice before tonight’s show, as he missed two days of rehearsals due to a back injury.

The Emmerdale star had to sit out a few practice sessions over the past seven days and even when he did get back on the rink, he had to miss out some of the big lifts for a couple of more days, until his back had healed sufficiently.

Tonight he looked hot in a white striped suit and he may not have been feeling on top form, but he did try to portray confidence with his partner. However, we did feel that there was something lacking from the routine a bit and the usual spark was perhaps missing but since he has been so poorly, we think we can forgive Matthew this once.

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Louie Spence: It doesn’t take long to love you Matt. From the beginning right to the end it was consistent, fluid and a pleasure to watch.

Katarina Witt: I have to disagree with Louie, the thing is my marks are so low because the expectations are so high with you. When I saw you earlier today, I thought all I will say is ‘you’re awesome.’ The beginning turned out to be cool but from there I could tell that you were nervous.

Robin Cousins: I agree but the thing is, when you come onto the ice you come with a focus and confidence, no matter what you do you give 100%. You did get the lift, you did the footwork on your own, you did more than anyone else will do tonight technically, so I have to give you credit for that.

Matthew Wolfenden and Jorgie Porter found themselves in direct competition this week on the live Dancing On Ice show.

The handsome Emmerdale star and his partner Nina were pitted against the sexy Hollyoaks actress and Matt Evers for tonight’s on ice duel twist.

The pair have been almost neck and neck throughout the competition and Matt admitted earlier in the week, that after pulling a muscle in his back, he was worried that he would be beaten by his female competitor.

In the pre-performance VT, we saw both stars learning some very difficult lifts for their routines and Jorgie in particular was struggling with the amount of rotations in hers.

However, even worse for Matt, his back went during one practice session and in today’s dress rehearsals it happened again and he dropped his partner Nina.

This evening Matthew and Nina started proceedings with their routine to Madonna’s Four Minutes To Save The World. It was sexy and incredibly daring and we love how fearless Wolfenden is on the rink. He included a baseball slide, a cartwheel and a drape lift.

However, Jorgie wasn’t giving him an easy ride and her performance was almost equally impressive. She displayed so much attitude with her partner Matt and it was a very exciting skate off all in all. Jorgie did a half press lift and a DJ spin with no hands and though she was really dizzy afterwards, she held it together until the end.

JUDGES COMMENTS:

ROBIN COUSINS: Matt you skate like a skater, you act and lift your partner like a skater. Jorgie I didn’t know that you were rough and ready but you were tonight, it was hot and sassy. I award immunity to Matt and Nina.

LOUIE SPENCE: This is so hard, you were both phenomenal. Jorgie the way you move is fabulous but Matt what people don’t realise is the support you have to give your partner,. It was down to the connection between each other and the person I am saving is Matt.

KATARINA WITT: That was incredible, you guys managed a complicated choreography. Jorgie you are ,magical and cute but now so sexy and that was so cool. I am awarding immunity to Jorgie.

Matthew Wolfenden has revealed that he has injured himself yet again, during Dancing On Ice rehearsals.

The Emmerdale actor is the front runner in this year’s batch of stars on the rink, however he is worried about his routine this weekend as he badly hurt his back during his practice sessions this week.

The hunk took to Twitter on Thursday night and told his followers:

“Had to cut skating rehearsal short by over an hour today!. I’ve either pulled a muscle or trapped a nerve in my back! Whichever it is…… I can hardly stand up straight, never mind skate! I’m in agony! #owch.”

However later in the evening he addressed his worried fans and told them that his back would be ‘fine’, especially after some special physiotherapy sessions.

He added:

“My back is fine.. Really.. Just a trapped nerve, that sort of pain where you can’t straighten up! Physio tomorrow, and will hopefully be able to get back on ice for rehearsals before the big show! #lotsofpainkillers.

“I’ll be skating Sunday, even if I have to put skates on my hands and do it upside down… I will be skating!!!”

Matthew won’t have an easy time of it this weekend, as he and his partner Nina face an on ice duel with Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter and her partner Matt Evers.

The four skaters will perform different routines, to the same music and the judges will grant one couple immunity from elimination.

Matthew Wolfenden has claimed that Louie Spence may be overly critical of him on Dancing On Ice, because he still bears a grudge against him.

The Emmerdale star is by far the best skater to date on the ITV show and has led the way on the judges’ leaderboard after his first two performances. However, last week Louie was hardly effusive with his praise and told the hunk:

This week was a mid tempo number but for me it just didn’t have that spark that you should have with every tempo. You set your own benchmark, so you need to live up to that.

Matthew has admitted that he has an inkling about why the Pineapple Dance Studios star is so hard on him and admitted that he once beat him to a dance role and thinks the camp star is still smarting from the slight.

He told The Daily Star:

“When I came out of dance school my first audition was for a part in Romeo And Juliet. Weirdly enough Louie was at the same audition.

“I ended up in the show and he didn’t. What’s even funnier is that Jason Gardiner was also there for an audition and I don’t think he got a part either.”

The actor laughed:

“It’s a good job he’s not still on the panel as well or I really would be in trouble.”

Matthew faces a difficult trial this weekend, as he and his partner Nina face an on ice duel with Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter and her partner Matt Evers.

Dancing On Ice will feature a big twist when it returns for it’s fourth episode on Sunday night.

Instead of taking to the ice as normal, with their partners, to perform their new routine, the celebrities will face an extra challenge as with them on the rink will be one other contestant and their professional partner.

Bosses have decided to enact a duel night, where couples will compete against each other on the live ITV show and after watching the four skaters perform each routine, judges will get to choose one pair to make immune from elimination later in the evening.

Producers have used last week’s leaderboard results to match the pairs, so that each celebrity will compete against someone of comparable ability…after all, how unfair would it be to have Andy Whyment skating against Matthew Wolfenden?

So, the couples will perform different routines, to the same music. They will not be scored as usual, but instead one pair will be chosen for immunity.

The pairings will be as follows:

Andy Whyment vs Rosemary Conley

Heidi Range vs Charlene Tilton

Corey Feldman vs Chemmy Alcott

Matthew Wolfenden vs Jorgie Porter

Jennifer Ellison vs Sebastien Foucan

Chico Slimani vs Sam Nixon

Some Oscar worthy performances and some more worth of a razzy….

Well if tonight’s Dancing On Ice was as its titre sequence suggested ‘a movie’, it had all the markings of a blockbuster, one hero – Matt W, one heroine – Jorgie, and a clown that no be cares too much about – Corey. Of course there’s also the goodie, tonight that went to Katarina who seemed to mark very fairly, and the baddie – Louis of course, who I still do not think we have seen at his worst. He may make some pretty damning comments, but he is nowhere near as rude as Jason Gardiner, and for that he is a credible judge for me at least.

So back to tonight and the skating…

Although the skaters from week one have had two weeks to practice their routine, I didn’t feel like there was a marked difference in standard. In fact some of the skaters who had only a week to rehearse pulled off some better performances. Matt and Jorgie were the stand outs for me, but I also really enjoyed Mark and Frankie’s routine, I thought he had improved immensely and they both really got in to their characters, which is ultimately what movie week is all about.

Chemmy I don’t think deserved the low score she got, and I didn’t really agree with Katarina’s comment about her being too big for Sean to lift. Isn’t he one of the largest/strongest male skaters?! That was the only point I disagreed with Katarina tonight though, elsewhere she was spot on. And maybe Chemmy shouldn’t be attempting ‘big’ lifts so soon, but that wasn’t the way to tell her. I digress…

I can’t predict the bottom two tonight, as there was some pretty harsh marking from the judges, but I think it’s safe to say that Corey will feature in there somewhere. But if he does return, then please can someone have a word with Schofe and make sure he keeps the hair strand sketch in – hilarious! Although I’m not sure that Corey himself found it funny….

Matthew Wolfenden skated to ‘Saturday Night Fever’ on tonight’s Dancing On Ice.

The Emmerdale star was elated with his song choice, as he performed the track before during a theatre tour however things took a negative turn and disaster struck during rehearsals, when he dropped his partner Nina and then fell on top of her.

Tonight, he looked confident again and started dancing off the ice with some backing dancers, He then leapt onto the rink, which was pretty impressive and the routine continued in that amazing vein. Already Wolfenden is very accomplished and confident and we can’t wait to see what he’ll bring in future weeks….he’s going to be an exciting one to watch.

SCORE: 21.5

JUDGES COMMENTS:

LOUIE SPENCE: This week was a mid tempo number but for me it just didn’t have that spark that you should have with every tempo. You set your own benchmark, so you need to live up to that.

ROBIN COUSINS: I wasn’t expecting to score anywhere near that tonight. Yes you delivered the big tricks but what I’m giving you the scores for is the natural instinct you have to get the blades working properly with Nina. That was brilliantly executed for you tonight.

KATARINA WITT: Looking at you it doesn’t feel like you are a non skater. You are so natural and strong. I like that you are relaxed out there, it looks so effortless and relaxed and sexy.

Matthew Wolfenden has take to Twitter to reveal that he has injured himself again.

The Emmerdale star impressed the judges with his Dancing On Ice debut last Sunday night, winning the highest score of the night and even higher praise from the expert panel.

However he may struggle to perform to such a high standard this weekend, as he has managed to hurt his leg during rehearsals.

The hunky actor tweeted:

‘Having to ice dip my leg on Physios recommendation due to knackering my tendon while skating!

‘Basically have to put my leg in a bucket of ice water and keep it there as long as poss.

‘Honestly so painful to try to keep it in there! (sic)’

Meanwhile, it was revealed this week that Matt’s professional partner Nina Ulanova got quite an eyeful during their dress rehearsal on Sunday afternoon, when his trousers fell down to reveal his bum because he has lost so much weight.
