Michael Barrymore cancels career re-launch after suicide scare

The Sun newspaper reports today that troubled comedian Michael Barrymore has cancelled plans to re-launch his career just days after being rushed to hospital when it was feared he was suicidal.

Yesterday, Dougie Chapman – who booked Barrymore to appear at Blackpool’s famous North Pier – said that booking the comic was, “always a gamble.”

Barrymore will apparently be replaced in the billing by The Chuckle Brothers.

Michael Barrymore turns straight?

Troubled TV presenter Michael Barrymore came out as gay 15 years ago, but is now claiming that he is straight again…..and dating a female blonde bombshell!

The former Strike It Lucky host hit the headlines after in 2001 after 31-year-old meat inspector Stuart Lubbock was found dead in his swimming pool. After the tragedy, Barrymore was cautioned by police for cannabis use, but faced no other charges. In 2006 the star went on to finish in second place on Channel 4′s Celebrity Big Brother.

Michael Barrymore for Channel 4′s Come Dine With Me

Shamed star Michael Barrymore is set to appear in an upcoming episode of Come Dine With Me on Channel 4.

The former Big Brother star will compete with Pat Sharp (Fun House), Jenny Powell (Wheel of Fortune) and Anthea Redfern (The Generation Game) to see who can throw the best dinner party.

Terry Lubbock, the father of Stuart Lubbock who died at Michael Barrymore’s home in 2001, has blasted Channel 4 bosses for employing comedian Michael Barrymore as a roving reporter for this year’s Celebrity Big Brother.

Terry, 65, has never given up his pursuit of the truth about what happened to his son at Barrymore’s house and is furious that Barrymore is being employed by BB bosses again. So much so that according to the Daily Mail, Terry intends to stage a protest outside the show’s studios.

He told the newspaper, “I will be outside the studios the day it starts – I will not rest until I know what happened to my son and I want Mr Barrymore to tell me all he knows.

“Reporters are people who want information revealed. Now that Mr Barrymore is a reporter maybe he can reveal some information to me.

Barrymore will present a slot on Big Brother’s Little Brother, which will be presented by George Lamb on E4.

Michael Barrymore Returns To New Zealand

Celebrity Big BrotherMichael Barrymore has this week returned to New Zealand after failing to make a comeback on UK TV.

Barrymore took part in last years Celebrity Big Brother shw with the hopes that it would be his first step on the ladder of a UK comeback. He had grand plans for new shows, but none actually materialised.

A showbiz insider said: “After Barrymore came second on Celebrity Big Brother he thought there was a real chance of getting things moving again, but as soon as police announced they were reinvestigating the death he knew he was facing an impossible challenge.

“I’m not surprised he’s gone back to New Zealand – and I wouldn’t be surprised if he never comes to the UK.”

Despite his own marriage ending up in tatters, Michael Barrymore has today offered some pearls of wisdom to his fellow Celebrity Big Brother housemates.

“You can get attracted by lucrative offers for your wedding pictures and get married for the wrong reason,� he tells the News of the World. “Two stars in a family doubles your exposure and doubles your problems. I hope they don’t get carried away.�

Talking of doubling your exposure, Michael has just signed a £1 million contract for the writing of his tell all autobiography. Thats right Michael, keep a low profile why don’t you!

Michael Barrymore Makes His Comeback On Channel Four’s Friday Night Project

Michael Barrymore will make his big TV comeback this week on Channel Four’s show the Friday Night Project. The presenter follows in the footsteps of TV personalities like Lorraine Kelly, Kelly Osbourne and Vinnie Jones who have also presented the show alongside comedians Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr.

This will be Barrymore’s first TV appearance since leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house, and his first presenting job since he fled to New Zealand.
