Someone should tell Simon Cowell he is not Michael Jackson … Or Elvis

On the day that he told the press: “I got a bit too cocky. We got a big wake-up call,” and had now changed, the music mogul proved that in reality he had not.

The night before the auditions the judges had a nice dinner with Ant and Dec, but Simon wasn’t there. A bit strange, as it would have been nice for the new guys to feel welcome.

Ok, maybe he had to do some last minute work before the auditions started, but still.

But then today the auditions started. It was pouring with rain, but the fans had come out in droves to see the judges arrive.

The first to arrive was the, always polite, David Walliams. He was sweet to the audience, shared a kiss and a cuddle and had his picture taken. He brushed off the staff that wanted to cover him with an umbrella as he didn’t ant to let the people down. He didn’t care that his newly styled hair became a mess. The girls obviously went in a little quicker, but were on time.

15 minutes later, no Simon, 30 minutes later, no Simon, 50 minutes – well I think you get it by now.

Where was Simon? Well, he arrived almost two hours later as the king arriving at the castle. Yes, he met and talked to people, but it just sat a little different compared to the others. With him it seemed as if someone royal took a moment of his precious time to talk to his subjects. And not a word on why he was so late.

Also the major placards that were everywhere stating “the king is back” were a bit uncomfortable. No, Simon, you are not the king, no matter how much you may think so.

You are a man, a very lucky man I give you that, that created a few shows that were successful but not original. It was clever, but it doesn’t make you a king. You live of other people’s talent. If you discover a singer someone else has to hone their talent and write their songs, if you find a dancer they have to choreograph their dancing themselves.

Simon has not created these people, they had the talent to sing or dance long before Simon was around. Simon himself does not have an actual talent, except coming up with ideas and be sarcastic on the panel. He is not creative like for example Berry Gordy, whom not only was the founder of Motown, but wrote many of the most famous Motown songs as well (he wrote “I’ll be there” for example!!)

Until the last few weeks I really liked Simon, I thought he was fun. But something in his new attitude just doesn’t sit right with me. Why is he still sneering to Will Young? There was no need. Why did he dump Dannii Minogue for Alesha at the last second just to spite the BBC, that’s just silly. Why does a creative talented man like David Walliams feel the need to look up to him as if he’s God? He is friends with Elton John, George Michael and Roger Moore, people who are stratospheric and have proved themselves for much longer. But the way David talks it seems as if nothing is bigger then Simon and he is just hired to bring “Comic Relief” and has not got enough talent. Having proved himself as an actor, a comic, an accomplished children’s and TV writer and swimmer what talent does he think he’s lacking?

What is it with Simon that hypnotises everyone into babbling yes man? It seems that only Louis Walsh sees him as a normal person.

It is very sad that in the past the major stars were the artists. Michael Jackson was a creative force who build an empire with his talent: singing, dancing, song writing, producing. A perfectionist who went global with the music he created and earned the title of the king.

It’s sad that these days it’s the owner of the label who thinks he is a star in the same right for just paying people to be creative for him.

Michael Jackson’s children were present in the Fox studio last night, as the X Factor USA contestants sang songs made famous by their late father.

When the ‘Bad’ hitmaker died two years ago, he left behind two sons and a daughter – Prince, 14, Blanket, 9, and Paris, now 13 – and yesterday all three were invited to watch the live X Factor show, by music mogul and series judge Simon Cowell.

The three children were accompanied by their grandmother Katherine Jackson and Michael’s brothers Tito, Jackie and Marlon as they watched the final seven contestants perform.

The theme of the live show was songs by the ‘King Of Pop’ and his family looked pleased as the acts took on some of Michael’s biggest and best known hit numbers.

The theme of the night was also apt as yesterday was the 29th anniversary of Jackson’s biggest selling record Thriller.

At the end of the show Steve Jones touched base with the Jackson family. They were impressed with the talent.

Katherine Jackson: “He would have been very proud. Every one of the contestants did an excellent job.”

Prince Jackson: “It’s a well put together show and the performance were great.”

Paris Jackson: “I think everyone was absolutely fantastic.”

It was a moment of light relief for the group, as earlier in the week a number of them were present in the courtroom, when Michael’s former physician Dr. Conrad Murray was sentenced, having been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

The 58-year-old was given the maximum sentence for his crime and Judge Michael Pastor ordered that he spend four years in the Los Angeles County Jail.

Katherine didn’t think the period was long enough and after the verdict was announced, admitted:

“Four years is not enough for someone”s life. It won”t bring him back but at least he got the maximum. I thought the judge was very, very fair and I thank him.’

On last night’s X Factor USA Melanie Amaro gave a fabulous rendition of Earth Song, while Chris Rene won praise for his take on ‘I’ll Be There.’

Will.i.am has claimed that Michael Jackson knew who Cheryl Cole was and would have collaborated with her, had he lived.

The Black Eyed Peas singer was working on new material with Jackson up until he died in 2009 and says he had made the legendary artist aware of the X Factor judge.

Will told The Sun:

“I told him Cheryl was the hottest thing in the UK and could sing and dance – basically, she was the complete package.

“He would have worked with her, no doubt, and it would have been something special.

“They are both total perfectionists when it comes to their work so it would have been something really big.

“It’s just a shame it can never happen now.”

But all is not lost and Cheryl’s greatest advocate insists that other a-list stars are keen to duet with ehr and help her crack America. He added:

He added: “There are still lots of great artists waiting to work with Cheryl when she gets over to the US – The Peas, Justin Bieber and Usher.

“But her and Michael would have created something that would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

“Michael was excited about everything I told him about Cheryl. It could have been one of the great collaborations of recent history.”

We’ve heard that apparently Elvis wanted to do a duet with her as well. However Frank Sinatra was always more of a Nadine fan……..

During this week’s X Factor semi finals, each act will sing a Michael Jackson song, his sister Janet will also be appearing on the show.

Before his death, Simon Cowell had hoped that Michael himself would be able to appear on the show, however Janet will now give a tribute performance and offer her thoughts on the Saturday night performances.

An insider said: “The Michael Jackson numbers will be huge crowd pleasers – and each contestant will want to do Janet and the Jackson family proud.”

The semi-finalists will also get to sing a song of their own choice.

Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga have reportedly been lined up to perform and mentor contestants, for an upcoming Michael Jackson themed X Factor show.

Before his death, ITV bosses were rumoured to have lined up MJ for the show himself, however now they are hoping that his sister will perform a tribute in his honour.

The Michael Jackson week will most likely take place during the show’s semi final week, as both Janet and Lady Gaga are scheduled to be in the UK at that time.

During Sky1’s televised séance, Acorah said that Jackson is “at peace”, although he would have preferred to have been buried next to Marilyn Monroe.

It seems even in death, some stars just have a hissy fit when they don’t get what they want…

In a report in the Daily Mail, Acorah said that Jackson was “speaking through him” and was saying to him, “I wished to lie alongside her. I suppose it’s of no consequence.”

Acorah later said that Jackson added, “I’m only now starting to adjust to my spiritual life.”

The BBC is said to be planning a new talent show which will find a performer who can dance like Michael Jackson.

The Sun reports that the show will be titled ‘Move Like Jacko’ and will feature one of his siblings as a judge. r

A source told the paper: “People are so passionate about Michael it makes sense to build a talent show devoted to him and his incredible performances.

“And given that his family played such a huge part in his life, it makes sense for one of them to be a judge. Jermaine, Janet or LaToya would be brilliant.”

A BBC spokesperson said in a statement: “We are currently in advanced discussions about commissioning a new entertainment show, which will seek to find Britain’s most talented dancer, who can move like the legendary Michael Jackson.”

Yesterday BB1 winner Craig Phillips took on Halfwit in the assault course. BB2′s Dean took on Lisa in an attempt build the highest tower made of sugar cubes. Rodrigo then had to bet which of the BB3 Housemates (Sophie Pritchard, Lee Davey and Alex Sibley) would win in an egg and spoon race.

Earlier today Noirin took on BB4′s Federico in a gymkhana competition. Noirin nervously passed round the house before the task started and Housemates all tried to guess which ex-Housemate she would face.
Warming up by jumping over chairs dressed in her costume, Noirin playfully cracked her whip at Marcus and Halfwit.

As she walked into the garden Marcus wished Noirin luck saying “go get ‘em”. As he entered the House both Federico and Noirin admitted to each other they were nervous of the task although Federico admitted he was competitive. Within minutes Federico also revealed to Noirin that Michael Jackson had passed away. Noirin seemed too nervous to react to the news. .

As he did the task Federico chatted through out and yelled “The indignity!” He breathlessly told Noirin on finishing that she would “be great”.

As she stood on the start line the rest of the Housemates cheered Noirin on by banging on the windows of the living room.

Chatting after the task Noirin revealed that she doesn’t fancy anyone in the house and that she was disappointed by the men in the house, saying that when they all entered the house she “waited until the last one came in, but no”. Federico himself was not immune to Noirin’s charms and told her before he left that she had “beautiful eyes”.

As soon as she finished the task Noirin told Housemates that Federico had told her something from the outside. Housemates spent minutes trying to guess what it was, worried that a war had started or that Federico had told Noirin something about them all. However Noirin reassured them that is was not personal about anyone. Rodrigo speculated that someone famous had died and Charlie was worried that the Queen had died or speculated that perhaps that Katie Price and Peter Andre were back together. Noirin went straight into the diary room to ask Big Brother if she could tell the rest of the house the news about Michael Jackson.

Noirin came out of the diary room and said “Big Brother said I can tell you” she continued “For me this is a really big deal because I loved his music but Michael Jackson has died”. She added “He was an icon of my time”.

Siavash “are you S***ing us? Lisa said “what a shame” and added “we should do a task”. The Housemates then talked about Michael Jackson as a “great artist” and “brilliant dancer”. Siavash said it just “makes you realise all the things that are happening outside”. Lisa said Federico “shouldn’t have told us though” and Rodrigo agreed animatedly saying “he ruined my day”.

Rodrigo then went into the bedroom and angrily said to Noirin “one of the most important and famous singers, who everyone loved, has died”, “I am upset, now we will just think about this”. As Rodrigo and Noirin sat and chatted about what they could do to commemorate him Rodrigo said “you can’t even believe it, it is like it is not true”. Noirin replied “Do you think I beat Federico?”.

Housemates are still talking about Michael Jackson, Siavash in particular saying her really cannot believe it.

According to The Sun newspaper, the dance act would’ve received £10,000 per night and if they’d performed at each of his 50 shows, that would’ve netted them half a million pounds.

The group have often said that their dance moves – which won the nation’s votes on BGT – were inspired by Jackson and last night, a spokesmen for the group told the paper, “The boys signed their deal last week. They were over the moon.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime gig.”
