Outgoing American Idol contestant Michael Lynche made his obligatory appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show on Friday and during their chat he admitted that he was slightly shocked to have left the show on Wednesday night.
On whether he expected to be eliminated Mike said:
Outgoing American idol contestant Michael Lynche made an appearance on Good Day LA yesterday and the presenters were lucky enough to be encompassed in one of his huge bear hugs!
The dad of one insisted that he isn’t down or depressed about his elimination and said that life is still good for him and his family. He added that having Chris Daughtry perform on his exit show and seeing how successful he became after finishing Idol in fourth place, was a very encouraging experience. Big Mike said:
Outgoing American Idol contestant Michael Lynche has been talking about why he gave up his future in football and got back into singing and making music.
Michael was voted off the show last night, after giving a disappointing rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘I Will Be There.’ But before auditioning for the show, he was a football player at Gibbs High School and the University of Central Florida. He played two seasons at University of Central Florida and later dropped out in 2003 to take care of his ailing mother. His mother died the following year of pancreatic cancer.
We were sure that it would be Casey James but five weeks after the show’s judges first saved him from elimination, smooth singing Michael Lynche was voted off last night’s American Idol show.

Taking to the stage in second place on last night’s American Idol, Michael Lynche revealed that he would be singing Michael Jackson’s I Will Be There. Mike admitted that he feels pressured to get into the top three and said that he feels the weight of the night in trying to do it for his hometown.
Celebrity mentor Jamie Foxx got Mike to dance and encouraged him to loosen up, but then refused to give him an artist t shirt, because he hadn’t learned his lyrics yet…..sucked to Michael that day!
American Idol hopefuls Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche have admitted that they are ultra excited about the prospect of working with Jamie Foxx this week.
Michael Lynche was looking very dapper on last night’s American Idol in his hat and suit. The dad of one sang ‘The Way You Look Tonight,’ a classic, well-established Frank Sinatra song. During his mentoring session, Harry Connick delivered some straight advice about interpretation, putting himself alongside Adam Lambert as one of the most useful mentors of the series.
This week’s American Idol show will follow a theme of Frank Sinatra songs and the celebrity mentor will be singer, actor, composer, and pianist Harry Connick, Jr.
Yesterday the remaining five contestants (Crystal Bowersox, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Lee Dewyze) met with the star and got the chance to practice his arrangement of their swing songs with a big band.
