Kimberly Carver (26, Denton, Texas) was the second person to attempt an original song on tonight’s American Idol.

We quite liked the song and so did guest judge Neil Patrick Harris, but Simon Cowell wasn’t convinced.

Simonsaid:

“I don’t see anything current [or] anything interesting.”

Luckily for Kimberley Neil Patrick Harris liked her and stood up to Mr Cowell. Welcome to Hollywood Dawg!

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris is the latest celebrity addition to the American Idol panel.

Following in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry, Harris will appear alongside regulars Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi at the auditions in Dallas.

I actually think that American Idol producers (and no doubt Mr Cowell) have been very clever with their latest move. They ditch Paula (even if they do eventually plan to reinstate her) and bring in some fresh celebrity faces. The move may even up their ratings, if fans of a certain star tune in to see them crush the dreams of some rubbish singers.
