Patrick Kielty has admitted that he enjoyed presenting ITV’s Celebrity Love Island, despite the fact that it damaged his presenting career.

The Irish comedian fronted the two series of the show in 2005 and 2006 alongside Kelly Brook and Fearne Cotton, he reportedly feuded with Brook the whole way through seres one.

Kielty told Metro: “I had fun and got paid. It was in Fiji and we had a great time. We just had to go in and watch Paul Danan and Sophie Anderton have meltdowns and spent the rest of the day on the beach.”

On whether fronting the show affected his career he added: “Of course it does. Generally if you’re in a bad show you don’t get work and if you’re in a good show you do. I came home with my tan and wondered why the phone wasn’t ringing. Luckily it didn’t last too long.”

On his upcoming Channel 4 comedy show Stand Up For The Week, he said: “It’s a topical stand-up show where we can talk about what went on that week.

“That’s normally covered just by panel shows – all the stand-up shows are recorded two months in advance so you can’t be topical. It should be fun.”

Sharon Osbourne has thrown a glass of water over yet another TV star. It’s becoming a bit of a habit for the Mrs O!

The former X Factor judge soaked Patrick Kielty this week, after he made a joke about her daughter Aimee.

Speaking at a Channel 4 gala in honour of Sharon, Kielty said that Aimme was a:

“credit to the Filipino nannies who raised her… unlike the rest of the family.”

He added: “Aimee’s been on TV once. Who could forget her appearance on The Jeremy Kyle Show when she desperately took a DNA test to try to prove you weren’t her real mother.”

“She’s the only child in Hollywood who’s tried to adopt African parents.”

Sharon then threw her water around him while screaming “I’ll f***ing kill you!”

Back in her X Factor days Sharon did the same thing to Louis Walsh after he accused her of taking some of husband Ozzy Osbourne’s drugs. People are going to stop giving her drinks at these big showbiz events!

“So let’s see how he does on the show because who knows what the opportunities might be.”

On the departure of Cat Deeley from the show he commented “Unfortunately Cat Deeley can’t be involved because of US commitments (she’s replaced by Claudia Winkleman) and in my view they lost the wrong one.” Meow!

Austrailian model Emily Scott has been ejected from Love Island. A bit of a shame, since she hadn’t really had a chance to shine since arriving on Love Island what seems like half-an-hour earlier.

From what I hear she’d been doing a decent job of keeping Cockroach Paul Danan away from the other girls on the Island – I hope they were grateful to her. Milo’s not surprised, though – she was never going to survive against an original Islander!

Apparently Patrick Keilty has put his foot in it slightly by insulting Bianca Gascoigne’s mum, Cheryl:

Presenters Matt Brown and Jayne Middlemiss apologised to Sheryl, a guest on the show, for showing the footage [of Leo and Bianca in the shower together], but Patrick said, “I’m not apologising. Why should we apologise? We’re only showing the behaviour.

“You should apologise, not us. The way Mary Kielty brought me up you would not catch me in the shower… with Leo.”

Maybe ‘Father’ Shane Lynch’s Christian values are starting to rub off on Kielty a bit? Watch for PK fussing about the beach house trying to get the girls to cover up and lecturing the boys on sex out of wedlock

And another celeb mother has weighed in on the presenters: Sophie Anderton’s mum has ‘blasted’ Kielty and co-host Fearne Cotton for being biased about her daughter. Better yet, she claims that “Beautiful people can be alienated and that’s what is happening here”.

What does that say about her opinion of Sophie? Does ‘beautiful’ define her? Has she no other redeeming features than her looks? Shame on you Sophie’s mum.

Then again, with her doctor and her best friend chipping in with their views…

Cotton told a friend, “Just because I’m not a star on the show, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to find love. Those girls had better watch out because I’ll be drooling over those hunks in trunks and might just steal one for myself!”

Show sources also believe that a relationship could develop between Fearne and co-host Patrick Kielty.

One insider told the Daily Star, “He’s quite taken with her. They have been getting on really well and have a really good chemistry together. Plus they’re both single. Watch this space.”
