This week’s Celebrity Four Weddings features magician Paul Daniels renewing his vows with wife Debbie McGee in a circus-themed day, Big Brother’s Spencer Smith marrying his fiancé Jo Ellison and Shameless actress Tina Malone and glamour girl Lyndsey Dawn MacKenzie also tie the knot – but not with each other! The winning celebrity will donate money to their charity of choice.

Spencer reveals that he has fancied Debbie McGee since he was a teenager, and thinks she is a legend – which seems to be echoed by all the participants who all take a shine to her.

Lyndsey’s Marbella WAG extravaganza is described by Tina as her ‘idea of hell’, and the biggest clashes occur between Spencer and Lyndsey.

In tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing results show Paul Daniels was voted off, becoming the second celebrity to leave the competition.

The judges’ scores left Paul Daniels and Michelle Williams at the bottom of the leaderboard but the combination of the judges’ scores and viewer votes meant Paul Daniels and partner Ola Jordan were eliminated.

Of Paul and Ola’s dance, the judges said:

Bruno Tonioli: “It was like watching Ola and the giant pepper pot. It was entertaining in a kind of funny way. It didn’t flow – nothing in the dance flowed. A pepper pot would have been better.”

Craig Revel Horwood: “The armography was very blocky and wooden and showing absolutely no sign of expression whatsoever. The burette spin turn that you did in the centre there was infantile, I’m afraid, and very very childish. I felt you spent most of the one minute thirty ogling Ola.”

Alesha Dixon: “Paul you’re so sweet and I love that you’re really, really trying. I like the magic, I like the lunges, but I really want to see more content from you, more dancing, but it had a nice charm about it and like Len said, it was entertaining”

Len Goodman: “Parts were magical, parts were comical, parts were diabolical, but the whole thing was entertaining”

After their elimination Paul said: “I’ve had a wonderful time on Strictly Come Dancing, I really have. If I hadn’t had a good time, I’d tell you!”

The celebrities who also competed this week and escaped elimination were: Peter Shilton, Kara Tointon, Gavin Henson, Matt Baker, Patsy Kensit, Jimi Mistry, Felicity Kendal, Ann Widdecombe, Michelle Williams, Scott Maslen and Pamela Stephenson.

Tonight’s show also saw a guest performance from Pete Andre.

Couples danced either a quickstep or a rumba

All remaining couples will be dancing next week to either a Charleston or a Tango.

Paul Daniels and Ola Jordan attempted the foxtrot on tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing show.

It wasn’t a technical masterpiece, but neither was it a complete shambles. Paul has some grace and rhythm and he definitely tries his best. The personality he brings to the dancefloor makes up for a lack of energy in his routines and we loved how he put in his ear plugs just as the judges were about to offer their criticisms.

Judges Comments:

Len: It had an ease which was very appealing, It was a tad pedestrian here and there, it was better than last week, well done.

Bruno: There are some sections that actually weren’t bad, but then you turned into ET. Why can’t you do it the whole way through.

Craig: It had rise and fall in the beginning and then it disappeared. You were looking down rather a lot which I hate, but it was so much better than last week. A real improvement.

Alesha: Ballroom really suits you and I hope you keep at it, because you can get better.

Strictly Come Dancing competitor Gavin Henson has reportedly been angered by the fact that Paul Daniels is receiving more fan mail than him.

The Daily Star reports that the rugby ace was ‘gutted,’ when he discovered that the 72-year-old magician was being inundated with letters and cards from fans, while he has been sorely neglected by viewers.

A BBC insider said: “Gavin has been having a right old moan, saying Paul’s been inundated with letters.

“Gavin is really competitive. He’s a sportsman. It’s built into him, so naturally he’s hacked off that Paul’s fan sack is bulging.”

A show source added: “Everyone thinks it’s hilarious that Gavin’s getting his knickers in a twist.

“He’s been getting his chest out at every opportunity and expected to have female fans queuing up. Everyone thought Scott Maslen would be his big competition in the heart-throb stakes.

“But Paul’s been a star for years and he is determined to show the younger guys he still has what it takes.”

Strictly Come Dancing competitor Paul Daniels, has admitted that his stiff joints are having some problems mastering the moves set by his professional partner Ola Jordan.

The magician is struggling with the faster routines required for the BBC show and in a recent clip of the pair rehearsing, Paul admitted:

“I’m really not sure whether I’ll get this hip wiggling lark off at all.

“Today although Ola is saying faster, faster, faster, my body is saying, who me?”

He added: “She’s praying for another partner.

“I will be going over this over and over in my head.”

Ola revealed that it hasn’t all been plain sailing saying:

“Paul struggles a lot with the fast moves.

“He’s got a lot of homework to do.”

After months of speculation, the BBC have finally announced the lineup for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing series.

The revamped show will feature fourteen celebrities, including no less than three Eastenders stars!

The first live shows will air on the 1st and 2nd of October and the Sunday night results show will no longer be fronted by Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth, instead Claudia Winkleman will join Tess for the result of the public vote. Alesha Dixon WILL be back, but the dance off won’t. In 2010, the judges will have no chance to save a couple, instead the weekly elimination will be based on the public voting figures combined with the judges scores only.

Add to all this the fact that Strictly will no longer go head to head with ITV’s X Factor and we are madly excited about the wealth of reality TV this autumn. Is anyone else hyped? Leave your comments below.

Magician Paul Daniels and his wife Debbie McGee launched an attack on reality television today as they spoke of their joy at appearing on the new X Factor show.

Mr Daniels, who with his wife became the first celebrity crooners to be voted off the new X Factor show last night, said he had enjoyed a “great three weeks� of preparing as it had been “laugh, laugh, laugh all the way�.

He said: “We are professional entertainers, that is what we do for a living and our job was to go in and make that studio jump and we did, it was just sensational.�

Ms McGee said they had a “great time� and the reaction they had received had been fantastic.

She said: “We are really glad we got booted off as they put it in the papers because we got so much sympathy from everybody.�

Asked whether there were other television shows he would like to take part in, Mr Daniels said he believed reality TV programmes such as Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity were the “most boring shows on television�.

He said: “Nothing happens. I am not really interested in people getting into bed with each other because I know people do that – big deal.�

He added that such shows were just “boring TV�.

“I switched on the other night and within minutes of me channel hopping I heard some guy on about his buddies and using four letter words.

“I thought, there is no fun in this, there is no entertainment in this. This is just people being disgusting. They are the bottom end of the market. Where do they find them, you know.�

He said the comedian Joe Pasquale who appeared on I’m A Celebrity was a “great entertainer� but all he had been asked to do was appear in situations such as having a box of rats running over him.

Ms McGee, said she had heard from friends who had appeared on Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity that you do not get fed very well on such shows.

Mr Daniels said one of the big surprises on appearing on the X Factor show had been how nice Simon Cowell had been.

He added that he and Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles had also got on very well.

Mr Daniels and Ms McGee had been impressed by Mr Moyles’ performance and they said they believed he could win the show.

Mr Daniels said Mr Moyles had the tremendous back-up of appearing on Radio 1. He said the other celebrities they hoped might win were ex-Coronation actress Nikki Sanderson, and England and Bath rugby player Matt Stevens.

Mr Daniels said he believed Rebecca Loos and James Hewitt could be the next to be voted off the show.

The new version of the popular ITV1 show, which began last night, will run every night until next Monday.

But their fun performance of ‘Let Me Entertain You’ wasn’t enough to save them and tonight Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee became the first casualties of the X Factor – Battle Of The Stars series.

I felt a bit sad, as Paul looked so upset and Debbie was obviously disapponited. Even worse the result meant that some crazy people must have actually voted for Rebecca and James….are they crazy? I would be happy if these two were never seen on our TV screens again, especially the tarty one!

Paul Daniels (born 6 April 1938 in South Bank, Middlesbrough) is a television magician in the United Kingdom.

He presented The Paul Daniels Magic Show on the BBC from 1979 until 1994. His catchphrase was “You’ll like it, not a lot, but you’ll like it.” Paul also hosted other television shows from the 1980s to the 1990s, such as the quiz shows Odd One Out, Every Second Counts and Wipeout. The Paul Daniels Easter Magic Show won the Golden Rose of Montreux Award at the International TV Festival in Switzerland in 1985.

Daniels starred in his own show, It’s Magic, at the Prince of Wales Theatre from December 10, 1980 until February 6, 1982. At that time, the show became one of the longest-running magic shows ever staged in London.

He has since retired from presenting magic shows on TV, but continues to make guest appearances on other programmes. Paul still tours with his magic show, and recently presented a show about the ‘Magic of Max Malini’.

Paul was awarded the prestigious ‘Magician of the Year’ Award by the Hollywood Academy of Magical Arts in 1983, and was the first magician from outside the US to receive it.

He married his long-time assistant Debbie McGee in 1988.

He was humiliated by Chris Morris in the 1997 media spoof TV series, Brass Eye, in a segment where he was persuaded to appeal to viewers to help a fictional East German elephant that had got its trunk stuck up its anus. This was the same year that he threatened to leave the UK if New Labour were elected — a threat he did not, in the event, carry out.

In 2004, he appeared in the Channel 5 reality TV show, The Farm.

He also trained and worked as an accountant before his career took off. He served in 1st Battalion, The Green Howards during his National Service and was posted to the British garrison in Hong Kong.

Daniels was also involved in a BBC children’s television show called Wizbit in which a magician called Wizbit and a rabbit called Woolly had adventures in a place called Puzzleopolis.
