Paul McCartney: The Beatles could have won X Factor

Paul McCartney has admitted that he sincerely believes his band The Beatles could have won The X Factor, had it been around in the 60s.

In an interview with The Daily Record, the song writing legend admits that tunes like ‘Love Me Do’ may not have won the band the title, but says that some of their later performances would have guaranteed them the top spot.

Paul McCartney said yes to X Factor because Beyonce did

Paul McCartney has revealed that he had a lot of people advising him not to perform on The X Factor last December. He admitted that he only said yes to the offer, after Beyonce appeared on the show.

Paul told Contactmusic: “Actually, when the offer came through it polarised a lot of people. Lots of my friends told me not to do it. It’s a pop show. But what turned me around – apart from the huge audience – was the fact that it’s a family show, and so many kids are obsessed by it.

Paul McCartney performs on X Factor final 2009

Paul McCartney made his X Factor debut tonight as part of the live final show. Dermot O’Leary almost peed himself as he introduced the former Beatles singer, personally we weren’t quite so excited.

Paul sang the Beatles classic ‘Drive My Car’ and even though he bobbed way more than was necessary and looked suspiciously like my dad, we found ourselves really getting into the whole vibe.

Simon Cowell confirmed on last night’s Xtra Factor that he had confirmed all the guest performances and duets for next week’s X Factor final. The Mirror has now reported that those guests would be George Michael, Paul McCartney, Michael Buble and Robbie Williams.

It is thought that Olly Murs will perform with Robbie Williams, Joe McElderry will sing with George Michael and Stacey Solomon will duet with Michael Buble. Paul McCartney will most likely give a solo performance during the live grand final.
