Could it be another cruel rumour or another plot from the American Idol PR machine, or can I really begin to hope that Paula Abdul may not be returning to American Idol?
Her manager, David Sonenberg seems to think she isn’t as he told the ‘Los Angeles Times’:
“Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol,’ ”
He revealed that Abdul had still not received her new contract for the season, despite being assured that she would be invited back.
Simon Cowell has admitted that he finds Paula Abdul as confusing as the rest of us but admits that there is a certain spark between them.
“Paula’s frustrating, she’s annoying and I can’t understand half of what she’s talking about – but there’s incredible comfort between us,” he told TV Guide magazine.
“I think we’re possibly secretly in love with each other.”
The further into this series of American idol we get, the more baffled I am by Paula Abdul.
Paula is supposed to offer AI contestants constructive advice and criticism, yet week after week we are doing well if she manages to string two coherent sentences together during the whole show.
Now I’m not suggesting for one minute that she is drunk or high, but she certainly behaves as if she is. When its her turn to speak she often seems surprised or spaced out and whilst it is admittedly fun to watch Simon taking the p**s out of her, after a while it just gets tiresome and weird.
American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi has expressed her disappointment with fellow judge Paula Abdul after she stated that the show didn’t work with Kara on the panel.
Paula revealed in an interview with American OK magazine that she felt Kara’s presence slowed the pace of the show, but Kara hit back in an interview with Access Hollywood saying:
“Paula has a right to her opinions, but I was disappointed by her comments, and hurt that she did not address them to me in person,” she said.
Always the controversial one, Paula Abdul has blasted American Idol producers for introducing a fourth judge to the show.
Just as the live round begins, Paula has given an interview to OK magazine and said that the addition of Kara Dioguardi “doesn’t work” and that “it takes up so much time for each of us to give our opinion that it slows down the pace of the show.”
In case you think that Paula is being bitchy, you should know that she means no ill will to Kara, in fact she insists “Kara and I have known each other for years and we get along great.” Do you believe her?
Despite recent rumours, American Idol bosses are insisting that Paula Abdul’s position as a judge on the show is completely safe, thought they do plan to shake the show up in other ways.
“There’s never been any discussion that we would want to get rid of Paula,” the show’s executive producer, Ken Warwick, revealed to reporters in a conference call.
“She’s one of the foundation blocks of this series. And I certainly wouldn’t want to lose her, and I don’t honestly think America would want to lose her either. She keeps Simon (Cowell) well in control, which is worth its weight in gold.”
Paula Abdul is reportedly considering quitting American Idol.
Paula has been a judge on the show since it aired in 2002 however after the recent suicide scandal she is said to have had enough of the whole thing.
“Paula has a reality show on MTV and her jewellery line. She’s got no reason to put herself through the stress of the show if she doesn’t want to,” a source told MSNBC.
Paula Abdul is rumoured to be leaving American Idol to launch her own Las Vegas stage show.
The choreographer is said to think that the time is right to leave the US talent show so she can work on the live show which has a Cirque-Du Soleil/cheerleader theme.
“She’s secretly putting together an exit strategy. No one knows whether Paula will be back for another season of Idol after this one, but she’s preparing for the future and she sees her future in Las Vegas,” a source told the National Enquirer.

American Idol judge, Paula Abdul has revealed that she is thinking about adopting a baby in the next three to five years.
Abdul, 44, told Now: “I do [want children]. I’ll probably adopt because I think it’ll be in the next three to five years.
“I wouldn’t necessarily adopt from abroad like some celebs. I just want a healthy baby.”
However, this doesn’t mean that marriage is on the cards for Ms Abdul, as she admitted last week that she was in no rush to get hitched to boyfriend JT Torregiani.

American Idol judge, Paula Abdul has told People Magazine that she has no immediate plans to get hitched to her current boyfriend, JT Torregiani.
“I’m very sceptical about having to have a document that binds your love together,” the American Idol judge reportedly said.
“I know for him, marriage is an important thing, so it’s kind of one of those things I have to balance out.”
I think it is JT that needs to do the balancing out. After watching clips like this, I wonder how anyone could consign themselves to a lifetime with the crazy Paula Abdul!
American Idol judge, Paula Abdul has revealed this week that she is constantly being asked by interviewers and fans, whether or not Simon Cowell is gay.
The former dancer who is currently starring in her own reality TV show told this week’s issue of Star magazine: “People say that all the time but no, he’s not!
“His brother always jokes and says that he’s gay but Simon has fun with it now. He’s very comfortable in his skin.”
