The Daybreak presenter and former One Show star will take the place of Holly Willoughby when the show returns to our TV screens in January and admitted that producers don’t want too many changes in style and have insisted that the series should ‘carry on as it has been,’ with Phillip Schofield taking the lead in presenting duties.

The brunette beauty said:

‘They’re massive shoes to fill. I know everyone loves watching Holly, so all I can say to anyone that might be apprehensive is, you’ve got the biggest fan in the world taking over so hopefully that will come across.

‘Phillip will run the show, obviously. I will do as I’m told because he knows how it works and I’m happy that’s the case, because it’s massive show and you want it to carry on as it has been.’

Bleakley did confess that she is hoping she won’t be taking to the ice any time during the series, as it was revealed that Schofe has been taking ice skating lessons.

The star laughed that she can just about manage to stand upright on a rink and told new! magazine:

‘I’ve been ice-skating maybe four or five times and I can just about stand up! A couple of years ago I did an interview with Torvill and Dean which involved skating and I was absolutely hopeless.

‘And there’s a fear factor – you can actually fall and crack your head open!’

Phillip Schofield has revealed that he and Christine Bleakley will get to know each other better over dinner, before they start work on ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

The This Morning host will invite the brunette beauty and her fiance Frank Lampard for a meal with him and his wife Stephanie Lowe, before the series kicks off in January.

It was recently revealed that Christine will take over presenting the show from Holly Willoughby, after she accepted a role fronting BBC’s The Voice.

Schofe and Christine will also work together for the first time, when they join Ant and Dec as hosts for ITV’s new charity programme Text Santa.

Speaking at its launch, Schofield said: “We’ve worked together doing interviews for Text Santa which we did the other day, we’ve had a photoshoot together, we’ve seen each other two or three times and we’ve just organised dinner, all four of us, partners as well.”

Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley will host the new series of Dancing on Ice when the hugely popular entertainment show returns next year.

The seventh series of the ITV Studios produced hit show returns in January 2012 with a brand new line-up of celebrity skaters. Last year’s show averaged 9.0 million viewers across its twelve week run in the winter of 2011, with the most watched show attracting a peak of over 11 million viewers.

Christine Bleakley joined ITV in summer 2010. She will also co-host ITV1’s Christmas entertainment and charity event, Text Santa, alongside Phillip Schofield this December. Christine takes over from Holly Willoughby, who will continue to present ITV1’s This Morning and ITV2’s Celebrity Juice, but has other commitments over the winter season.

ITV Director of Television, Peter Fincham said: “Dancing on Ice continues to be one of ITV1’s most successful entertainment hits and I’m delighted that Christine will be joining Phillip Schofield to host next year’s show.”

Christine Bleakley said: “I’ve always been a total Dancing On Ice addict so it really is hard to sum up how excited I am to be joining the team. My only concern was what a big task it is to follow the brilliant Holly and I can only promise her, Phillip and everyone at home that they couldn’t have a bigger fan of the show on board.”

Phillip Schofield said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Christine is on board and I’m really excited about the new series.”

Phillip Schofrield has admitted that he is worried about what might become of Frankie Cocozza, now that he has left The X factor.

The 18 year old singer was eliminated from the show yesterday, after it was reported that he broke one of the bosses’ ‘golden rules’. It has been claimed today that producers were angry after finding out that the Brighton lad had been boasting about taking cocaine and enjoying an all night sex session just hours before Sunday’s results show.

Speaking on This Morning about the furore surrounding Frankie’s axe, Schofield admitted to being concerned about how the young star will deal with the press and pressure, now that he doesn’t have X Factor staff protecting him from the worst of it.

He said:

I’m worried for him because we know that nowadays there is a protective blanket thrown around those in The X Factor, as best as can be done. I hope that he’s alright without that protection.

He still has the infamy now…not the fame but he’s got the infamy. They [the newspapers] will be following him wherever he goes, he won’t be able to have a shot anywhere.

On Saturday night’s X Factor show we saw Kitty Brucknell dressed as Alice In Wonderland and her performance of ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ took place at the Mad Hatter’s tea party, while fellow contestant sang Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ dressed as a Japanese Geisha girl.

One person who isn’t happy with the way Louis Walsh is portraying his acts is This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield.

Speaking about the live show today, the silver fox berated the Irish star for giving his contestants such ridiculous costumes and stage sets, saying:

I don’t know why the overs have to be jokes. Why can’t they just sing straight? Why did Kitty have to be at a Mad Hatter’s tea party? Just because they are a bit older does it mean that they have to be novelty?

Jeff Brazier added:

It’s pretty much the stigma attached now. It’s the way Louis likes to go.

Gary Barlow also hit out at Louis on Saturday night’s episode, saying that he found Louis’ management of Johnny in particular very ‘sad’ and asking why he can’t allow the former drag queen to showcase his vocals properly.

When asked the same question on The Xtra Factor afterwards, Louis responded by saying that he has big plans for Johnny. He explained:

It’s only week two, we have eight more weeks to go and I think he’s going to be here for a long time. He’s got a brilliant, brilliant falsetto voice and I am going to show that off.

Walsh then added:

I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve but it’s too early. I know what I’m doing guys, I’ve been here eight years and I know the way this show works.

Phillip Schofield has admitted that he was sorry to see the back of Amelia Lily on tonight’s X Factor show.

The This Morning host was speaking with Caroline Flack and Olly Murs on The Xtra Factor when he explained that he thought the 16 year old singer was ‘amazing’ on last night’s live episode, but conceded that Kelly Rowland had a very difficult situation on her hands because all her acts were so talented.

Schofield said:

“I think she was amazing! 16, she opened the show, she was stunning last night. I felt very sorry that she went but it’s a tough choice. I think Kelly had the biggest nightmare of a decision.”

Phil also admitted that he disagreed with Gary Barlow’s decision to send Liverpool singer James Michael home, revealing that if he had been in the judges seat, he would have eliminated Marcus Collins instead. He added:

“I think that James had a really tough song to sing, it showed off the nerves in his voice. I think Marcus was lucky tonight in actual fact, I thought he was going.”

When addressing the subject of the overs category, the Silver Fox again admitted that he disagreed with judge Louis Walsh’s decision, saying that if it had gone to a public vote, he thinks Jonjo Kerr would have survived another week.

“I think it would have been Kitty tonight, I think she might have struggled,” Phillip predicted.

But Phil’s real praise came for 19 year old contestant Misha Bryan who received rave reviews from the panel after her performance of Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ last night.

He gushed:

“He I am a massive fan of Misha, it was like watching Brits performance last night, she could have been on The Brits. She could win it, for me she is amazing.”

Everyone seems desperate to know what could be coming on this week’s X Factor live show and just what the big twist that was teased last night might be.

As the final judges houses show came to an end, Dermot O’Leary announced that there will be a big shock for viewers that tune in on Saturday night and for once, the papers haven’t leaked the story immediately after the announcement.

On This Morning, presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby speculated about what the twist may be and came up with a few interesting theories.

Holly – who has behind the scenes X Factor experience, having previously fronted spinoff show The Xtra Factor – thinks four previously unsuccessful contestants will be brought back, much like last year’s wildcard singers, but instead of fitting into an existing category, they will be mentored as their own group by a fifth judge – who may just be a returning Simon Cowell.

Another theory discussed by the stars was the possibility that Simon Cowell would bring a number of contestants from his American series over to London, to compete against the final 16 British hopefuls.

One last idea was that – now that they’ve each chosen their final four acts – producers would swap the judges around to take them out of their comfort zones.

Holly Willoughby’s close pal Stephen Mulhern has admitted that he is hoping he’s top of the list to become her new daughter’s godfather.

The Dancing On Ice host gave birth to baby Belle earlier this month and while Mulhern wants to step in and hold a special place in the tot’s life, he confessed that he might face competition from another TV star.

The Britain’s Got More Talent presenter told The Sun’s Buzz magazine:

“I would imagine my fiercest rival is Phillip Schofield, but if Holly asked me I’d be over the moon… I’m on a promise to do a magic show for her 23-month-old son Harry, as apparently I owe her a favour!”

Stephen has no doubt Holly will juggle being a full-time working mum with two small children brilliantly. He added:

“She is looking amazing. I don’t know how she does it. I don’t even think she knows… If she did, I’d be paying her to give me some tips. She’s a wonder woman and the perfect mum, perfect in every way.”

This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield has been keeping viewers and Twitter fans updated on Holly Willoughby’s labour, and it seems the latest news is that Holly’s not as yet in “full blown” labour.

Earlier, Phillip tweeted, “Just spoke to @hollywills who says thanks so much for all your good wishes.

“Here’s the current situation, obviously if the baby arrived over the last few days it would be quite early…

“So the team around her are balancing when is the best time for her to be born.

“Holly said that she hadn’t been in full blown labour since Monday!

“And though she was having contractions she was as comfortable as could be expected.”

And as of last night, via Twitter, her co-presenter Phillip Schofield revealed that Holly is still in the early stages of labour.

He tweeted, “For everyone asking. News from @hollywills is that there’s no news really.

“Everyone fine, but very tired, still no new baby though’.

The paper adds, “It is thought Miss Willoughby, 30, has given her blessing to the coverage as she in fact broke the news that she was pregnant with her second child on Twitter back in November.”

Meanwhile, Holly’s agent John Knight told the paper, “We’re still waiting for news, I don’t think her waters have broken yet so it could be a little while, we just don’t know.”
