Piers Morgan has thrown down the gauntlet to fellow former Britain’s Got Talent host Simon Cowell by challenging him to a twitter follower face-off for charity.

The CNN presenter was inspired to start the challenge after Irish bookie Paddy Power offered him 15/8 that he will have more followers than Simon Cowell by the end of this year. He took the challenge and told Cowell to put his money where his mouth is and take the reverse bet.

The bookie has offered them each a 500 pounds sterling charity bet to motivate them, although judging by Piers’ twitter feed, he doesn’t need much motivation and thinks it is in the bag.

Paddy Power said: “The game is now on for the both of them. Piers is already ahead by 750,000 odd followers, so it will be a bit of an uphill struggle. But I can’t believe Simon or his loyal fan base will let Piers win this one.”

Piers Morgan has admitted that he will no longer act as a judge on America’s Got Talent.

The former Britain’s Got Talent panel member judged on the US version for six years but claimed that it is becoming increasingly difficult to balance his role on the reality TV series, with his job as host of a CNN chat show.

Piers will not be on the panel when the show returns to NBC in 2012 and told his followers on Twitter:

“I’m leaving America’s Got Talent after six wonderful years.

Turned out that juggling’s harder than it looks, so I’m going to focus on CNN.”

Morgan took over from Larry King on CNN last year and for a whole series of AGT, juggled the two roles simultaneously. Simon Cowell will now need to find a replacement, who can join Howie Mandell and Sharon Osbourne before auditions start in the next few months.

Piers thanked his employers and of course Simon, in another tweet which read:

“Big thanks to NBC, Fremantle, and of course, my friend Simon Cowell, for giving me such a great opportunity. It’s been a blast”.

Piers Morgan is a good friend, always ready to have a joke with his pals….or take the p*ss out of them it would seem.

The former Britain’s Got Talent judge obviously struggled to buy a gift for Simon Cowell’s birthday – what do you buy the man who has everything? – and so decided to have a laugh at the X Factor boss’s expense instead.

Morgan revealed that for the music mogul’s 52nd birthday recently, he sent him a framed picture of his former protege of Cheryl Cole.

Of course it was a dig to remind Cowell that Cole hasn’t spoken to him since he sacked her from The X Factor USA earlier this year.

Asked what he bought his pal for the special occasion, Piers joked,

“Usually a mirror. That’s the best present he can get. But this year, I sent him a framed photograph of Cheryl Cole.”

He also revealed that he would ‘never say never’ about returning to Britain’s Got Talent, which may be a good thing as we’ve heard they’re pretty short of judges for next year’s series.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Simon and Cheryl are finally planning to meet, after she also acknowledged his birthday recently.

Steve Jones reportedly stormed off the set of Piers Morgan’s chat show earlier this week.

The Welsh hunk was being interviewed on the CNN special, about his role as presenter of the new American X Factor series when he claimed that the former Britain’s Got Talent judge questioned him too deeply about his personal life, so he refused to talk anymore.

Jones took to Twitter earlier this week to write:

“For the record, I’m not ashamed to admit I stormed off Piers Morgan tonight.

“His line of questioning was highly offensive. You judge this Friday.”

What could he have asked him about? His relationship with Pamela Anderson, or Halle Berry….let’s face it there are a lot of interesting women in Jones’ past!

However, in a weird twist to the tale, Morgan then claimed that he HAD Steve thrown off the show because of his lewd conduct.

At this point, we began to smell a rat.

Something didn’t sound right with the scenario the pair were painting at all.

Steve’s spokesperson has since revealed that the whole thing was one big prank and that Piers and his client are still good friends.

He’ll need all the friends he can get as so far, Jone’s performance on The X Factor has not been received well at all. He’s more wooden than Konnie Huq on The Xtra Factor and after watching the premiere of the US series last week, we couldn’t wait to have Dermot O’Leary back on our screens last weekend!

Lydia Bright has admitted that she could have been knocked over by a feather, when she discovered that Piers Morgan watches The Only Way Is Essex.

The blonde beauty recently met the America’s Got Talent judge and former newspaper editor and explained to The Sun’s Buzz magazine that she couldn’t believe it when he knew all of it’s cast members.

Lydia laughed:

“He’s [Piers Morgan] a big TOWIE fan…I couldn’t believe he knew the names of everyone in the show.”

She also admitted that she’d love to make an appearance on Morgan’s ITV show ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories,’ adding:

“I’d love to go on Life Stories and talk about my life and what’s gone on with Arg.”

As the Essex star is only 20, it might be a short edition of the famously lengthy show!

Team iLuminate closed last night’s America’s Got Talent live show and what a performance they put on!

The act is a blend of amazing dancers, choreography and software technology and founder Miral Kotb explained what her troupe do, saying:

The iLuminate technology is something where dancers connect to lights and I am able to wirelessly control those lights.

On how and why she decided to found iLuminate, she revealed that the inspiration was borne out of personal tragedy, adding:

I always dreamed of being a professional dancer but then I was diagnosed with cancer. Through physical therapy I was able to dance again but never at the level I could before I got sick.

Dressed up in funky light up suits the dancers then took to the stage and proceeded to amaze the judges with their complicated and jaw dropping routine. The usually reserved Piers Morgan was on his feet cheering by the end and the judges made the following comments:

Piers Morgan: I’ve just got three things to say to you. Best act tonight, best act of the lives shows, best new act in America. That is a million dollar act right there.

Sharon Osbourne: Right now you all are a world class act. It’s breath taking – the technology, the dance, your choreography.

Howie Mandel: What can I say? The best thing by fay, that I have seen on this show. I think you’re going all the way, I think you could possibly take this thing. I just hope that America doesn’t sit back, I hope they dial their phones.

Piers Morgan wasn’t a big fan of Steven Retchless when he performed on America’s Got Talent during the audition rounds and on last night’s quarter finals, the 24 year old hopeful failed again to win his approval.

The New York native, who describes himself as a ‘polefessional’, took to the stage once more on last night’s live show and gave a unique performance, which we have to admit was actually quite impressive.

Steven admitted before the show that he was very worried about one move, which saw him flip while 13 foot in the air, however the whole thing looked effortless and there was barely a blip in the whole routine.

Piers buzzed during the performance and afterwards claimed that he had ‘tried to appreciate this act’, adding ‘there is a reason there are no male pole dancing clubs in America.’

Sharon on the other hand found the whole thing ‘spectacular.’ Adding ‘I bow down to you.’

Howie agreed with Osbourne saying it was ‘truly amazing’ joking that Steven is a cross between Lady Gaga and a firefighter.

Piers Morgan is going to become a daddy, and he and his wife Celia Walden have announced that they are expecting their first child.

The couple – who tied the knot in Oxfordshire, South East England, last June – will welcome a baby into the world this winter, with journalist Celia being four months pregnant, according to the Mail on Sunday newspaper.

Chat show host Piers – who already has three sons from his 20-year marriage to Marion Shalloe, whom he divorced in 2008 – first met Celia on a photoshoot, claiming she was “way out” of his league.

He then proposed to the 34-year-old beauty while on a romantic trip to Paris by presenting her with a book by her most-loved writer John Updike, entitled ‘Marry Me’.

The pair then tied the knot in a quiet ceremony, where he neglected to even invite fellow ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Simon Cowell to the nuptials.
He said: “I couldn’t trust him to turn up on time.”

Simon later retorted: “I hate to admit it but I’m absolutely thrilled for the two of them. Having met Celia, I have no idea how he managed to pull this one off.”

Piers Morgan has admitted that he often finds it hard to work alongside his fellow America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel.

Describing him as “the most annoying man” ever, Morgan admitted on Access Hollywood that their on screen rivalry and jibing is not fake and insists that relations between him and the stand up comedian is “not friendly”.

He added:

“I actually want to torture and dismember [Mandel]. He is, without a doubt, the most annoying man in the history of planet Earth,” he said.

“He does things like, we had these six giant human dancing gnomes on the show – which I hated – most annoying act I’ve ever seen. And of course, I go and try to grab an hour’s sleep in between the two shows, and next thing I know, there’s a bang at the door and there’s Mandel with the six giant gnomes.”

America’s Got Talent returns on 31st May 2011.

Lauren Goodger has admitted that she is keen to take on former Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan!

The Only Way Is Essex star revealed that she would like to go on Piers’ ITV chat show, but how would she cope against the infamous interviewer? She told The Sun’s Buzz magazine:

“If I was to go on Piers’ ITV1 talk show I’d probably break down the minute I got in the chair. Obviously, he’d ask me about what Mark [Wright] did before with the other girls, but I wouldn’t be ashamed and I’d answer back firmly. Best way to deal with it.”

Lauren recently got engaged to her on off lothario boyfriend Mark Wright. it was reported yesterday that she may face a legal battle with car manufacturer Kia, after they gave her a free car to promote on the ITV2 show, yet it has not been featured in a single episode.
