Randy Jackson has confirmed that all three American Idol judges will return for the 2012 series of the show.

The former Journey star, who has been a panellist on the reality TV series since it’s inception in 2002, has claimed that he, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will be back for the next run of the singing show and during an interview on “Lopez Tonight” on Thursday, May 26, he said:

“I believe we’ll all be back!”

J-Lo however isn’t so sure and on Wednesday had been talking about plans for next year with FOX411, when she confessed:

“It’s too early to tell.”

It seems that while Aerosmith frontman Tyler and Randy are both signed for at least one more season, Jennifer is still in negotiations with show bosses.

“Everyone has multiple year contracts; Jennifer had single year contract, we loved having her, the hope and expectation is she’ll return,” FOX Chief Peter Rice said earlier this week.

We thought the American Idol judges were supposed to stay impartial at this point in the competition, but old favourite Randy Jackson has told viewers who he thinks will win the tenth season of the reality TV show this week.

As teenage singers Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina prepare themselves for the finale shows on Wednesday and Thursday night and decide whether or not they feel like shaving their heads for the occasion, Randy told Chelsea Lately that he thinks the male contestant has the best chance of winning the series….what’s new there?

Randy said:

What’s funny about this season is it’s down to the two I thought it would be down to when we were doing the auditions – Scotty and Lauren.

I think probably, Scotty has got a slight edge….a very slight edge.

Randy Jackson has revealed that he thinks Haley Reinhart has made it through to this year’s American Idol top three, because the public believe in her.

The 20 year old jazz singer from Chicago has been in the bottom three on four different occasions, but has always avoided being eliminated. She is currently waiting to hear tonight’s result, to find out if she has made it through to next week’s final and in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, show judge Randy Jackson offered his opinion on how she has survived in the competition for so long. He said:

It’s about emotional investment. Like with Haley, we’ve seen her grow in the competition — she’s been in the bottom a ton of times and is still around — so obviously the public believes that she’s honestly giving them something.

On fellow competitor Lauren Alaina, who found herself in the bottom 2, two weeks ago, Jackson added:

Lauren, too, they’re both still standing. It’s about getting them to fully engage on all levels. Everyone is talented, but who’s gonna win this damn thing? Come on, now.

Record boss Jimmy Iovine, Idol’s in-house mentor, heaped his praise on Scotty McCreery, saying:

Scotty is very much a turnkey artist. Few singers you meet come fully equipped, batteries included, and he’s that kid. …

Randy Jackson has claimed that his old pal Simon Cowell is happy American idol is doing well without him.

The music producer is the only original judge left on the show’s panel, after Cowell left last year to concentrate on his new X Factor series. He told Access Hollywood that he will always stay in touch with his friend and that he has previously admitted to missing the cast and crew of the show.

“He’s happy for us,” he said. “He’s happy that it worked. I know he misses me! But he’s happy. He says I miss him, but he misses me too.”

“I talk to him every couple of weeks,” Jackson added. “We stay in touch – he’s one of my dearest friends in life.”

Tim Halpern may have tried his best to impress Jennifer Lopez on last night’s American Idol but the singer failed to win over music producer Randy Jackson with his audition.

Before singing for the judging panel, the 23 year old singer from Fort Worth admitted that he has had a life long crush on J-Lo (who hasn’t?), but he was a bit cringeworthy when he claimed that his love for the star ‘don’t cost a thing.’

He went on to give an impressive rendition of Maroon 5′s She Will Be Loved. We actually quite enjoyed the performance and think the ladies will LOVE Tim. However the men may not and after his song, Steve Tyler said:

“Dude I felt like during this audition, we weren’t even here.”

While Randy Jackson mused:

“You’ve just gotta figure out who you are, who you want to be vocally and work on it. I don’t think you’re ready yet.”

American Idol judge Randy Jackson has been chatting about who he would like to see replacing Simon Cowell on next year’s Idol panel and he wants to see a touch of magic on the show.

Cowell has previously revealed that he won’t return to Idol in 2011, as he will be concentrating on his new American X Factor show.

So who is Randy hoping will join him on the panel? He told Zap2it:

“I think we need someone who is the modern day Houdini. A real magician, almost like a Merlin figure, wearing like a hat like Merlin. I think we need a real magician on the show now. I want to see someone to who can do some magic tricks on the panel. It’s a tough thing. But I do love magic. ”

On the rumour that former Idol contestant Adam Lambert may take the seat Randy added:

“I don’t know if he’s the next judge, I’m not sure if that’s what he wants to do or if that’s what he needs to do in his career,”

American Idol judge Randy Jackson has launched a new record label. He’s obviously venturing into new career areas in case Idol dies after Simon Cowell’s departure next year.

The producer has founded DreamMerchant21, a dance label and his first signing is American Idol Season 2 star Kimberley Locke.

“I feel compelled with the music that I am hearing in 2010 to start this kind of label,” he said in a statement. “I want to make a difference within this genre and bring good energy and great music to all!”

Kimberley’s first single on DreamMerchant “Strobelight,” was released on April 6th. She agreed on a “singles only” deal so no album is forthcoming. Explains Locke, “We live in a world where people go to itunes and download the songs they want

Singing superstar Mary J. Blige took to the American Idol stage last night and gave an amazing (though definitely abridged) rendition of the Led Zeppelin classic ‘Stairway To Heaven.’ She was joined by her all-star band composed of Orianthi, Travis Barker, Steve Vai and Idol judge Randy Jackson.

It was an epic ‘Idol Gives Back’ performance, full of rocking guitar solos and massive drum moments. It may not have been to the taste of Led Z purists but it certainly put the earlier loose and vocally shaky performance of The Black Eyed Peas to shame! Did you love it or hate it? American Idol judge Randy Jackson has admitted that he will miss his ‘best friend’ Simon Cowell, when he leaves the show next year.

Simon has previously revealed that this will be his final Idol season, as he prepares to launch an American version of his X Factor show stateside in 2011.

Admitting that he will miss his pal, Jackson told MTV:

“Listen, he’s my best friend … one of my best friends in the world. The guy is über smart. He looks at the whole picture. He looks at life on the show in a way no one else looks [at it]. I love him. I’m just gonna miss sitting next to him, learning from him.”

Asked about who will eventually replace Simon on the judging panel, Randy added:

“I don’t think you can replace him. I think you move with somebody different in that seat. It’s a tough thing. We’ve been talking about it. We’ll see where we end up.”

American Idol judge Randy Jackson has admitted that he is excited about seeing former runner up Adam Lambert mentoring the final nine singers this week.

Lambert will appear on tonight’s Elvis themed show as a mentor (watch it tomorrow in the UK) and will perform his hit single “Whataya Want From Me” on Wednesday night’s results show.

Speaking to MTV, Randy said that Adam is the perfect mentor for Crystal Bowersox and co. He said:

“Adam is great, man! He’s über talented. The guy is a star. He just went through this last year with us barking at him from the stage. He almost nearly won.”

“You know, I think he’s gonna be really great because he knows, first and foremost, what they’re going through [as contestants] and what the feelings are and what’s happening and what’s gonna happen,” he explained. “So he’s going to be one of the best mentors, I think, all season.”
