The Voice UK presenter Reggie Yates defends the show, saying “We did a bloody good job”

The Voice UK presenter Reggie Yates has hit out at critics of the show, saying that comparisons between The Voice and X Factor are “unfair” because The Voice has only had one series when compared to X Factor’s long track record.

However, he did concede that mistakes were made in The Voice UK’s first outing, but promised that when it returns to the BBC in 2013, the show will reflect the “learning and improving” ethos that’s currently being worked into the new series.

Reggie told the Sun, “If you look at the first episode to the final, you can see the production, the lighting got better.

Radio 1 DJ and The Voice co-presenter Reggie Yates has told Heat magazine that he’s not at all concerned over the fact that The Voice has been losing viewers week on week since it launched.

And in a glass-half-full sort of an interview, Reggie insisted that the show’s ratings are “much better” than they should be, given it’s only in its first series.

Which really is either Reggie being fiercely loyal or terribly naïve, given that the last live show was watched by just over 5million viewers, which is a full 50% less than the figures when the show first began.

Nonetheless, when asked if there had been any crisis talks at the BBC over the figures, Reggie said, “Honestly, we’ve not spoken about it and I don’t think we will.”

He added, “I didn’t get into this to be on the most watches show on TV, and even if we did get five million, like every over show has got on their first series, it would still be the biggest show I have ever done… Read more & comment »
