Big Brother runner up, Richard Newman has joined the team at internet and digital radio station Gaydar.

Newman said: “I have been an avid GaydarRadio fan for several years now and I love the upbeat and fun nature of the presenters and shows. I worked as a radio presenter in Canada for two years and also have a degree in TV and Radio Arts, so it is great to get back into the scene.”

Robin Crowley, Programme Controller at GaydarRadio is excited by the new arrival and stated: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome Richard to the team and we are sure our listeners will identify with his lively nature and sense of fun.”

Davina has just announced that as expected, Richard Newman finished Big Brother 2006 in fourth place. He strutted out, leather glove, jaunty hat and posed for the press. Not a bit of stage fright there!

That leaves the final 3 housemates as Glyn, Aisleyne and Pete. I am still holding out some hope that Glyn can win, time will tell, we’ll soon know!

What the hell is going on with Richard Newman?

When Dicky strutted up the steps of the Big Brother house all those weeks ago, I had echoes of Dan from Big Brother 5. Basically a decent bloke, a peace-keeper and a likeable normal housemate.

Having watched his latest antics in the house, I’m not so sure.

Since Nikki returned and attached herself to Pete, Richard (who’s really quite clever) worked out that Pete is the golden boy of Big Brother 7. And he wants to be cool by association, doesn’t he?

So, in the last week of the show, Dicky abandons all hope of winning the show himself and becomes the official narrator of Nikki and Pete’s blossoming fake love story.

As the housemates hover outside the Diary Room on Pete’s disco night, Richard gleefully honks “He loves you Nikki, he wants to dance with you!” in his increasingly irritating Canadian* accent.

Tonight, he took Aisleyne to task for ‘not representing Pete well enough in the public speaking task’, accusing her of trying to scupper Pete’s chances. If you saw the footage, this was after he’d spent 10 minutes crawling up Nikki’s ass in the bathroom, while she flailed her arms and pouted at the hidden cameras in protest.

Let’s face it, if Pete is the chosen one of BB7, then Aisleyne’s lack of public speaking talent won’t stop the (well-timed) prophecy from coming true, will it?

Nope, it looks like Richard Newman will be a loser of Big Brother 7 in more ways than one.

* We’re not anti-Canadian folks, so don’t get upset. We love Bryan Adams, and he’s Canadian. Need any more proof? Tabby’s a Celine Dion fan.

Richard and Imogen were today called to the diary room, and were informed by Big Brother that they had been nominated for eviction this week.

Neither Imogen or Richard seemed surprised, Richard laughed “We already knew we’d be up,”

But they were shocked when Big Brother then went on to inform them that they would be seeing out the rest of the week in the house next door with their four ex housemates, in fact they nearly fell off the diary room chair!

Glyn, Aisleyne, Jennie and Pete watched the plasma screen in dismay as they realised what a quiet few days lay ahead.

Richard however, contrary to his comments earlier today, did not blank Grace when he entered the house, as promised, rather he gave her a hug as he did all the others…… a bit hypocritical I think.

Last night, whilke discussing the return of the ex-housemates, Richard revealed that if Grace returns to the real Big Brother house he will not be speaking to her. He advised the other housemates “Just speak to the people you want to.”

Glynn however displayed his loyal streak admirably, and got right p***ed off with everyone slagging Grace, so he got stuck into Suzie.

“Why was she here? She was boring, she was too upper class,” he ranted. “All she did was drink tea and go to bed at 10 o’clock.”

Its funny, Grace is already causing trouble and she isn’t even in the house yet!

Irish comic and chat show host Graham Norton has waded in on this year’s Big Brother, berating producers for allowing unstable contestants like Shahbaz to enter the house.

Surprisingly, he’s also taken a wallop at housemate Richard Newman for being an “evil bully” toward Shahbaz. Norton thinks that it should have been obvious to the housemates that Shahbaz had mental problems.

But isn’t that the problem with Big Brother? The contestants are expected to be a strange mix, and someone with a serious problem might not be picked up, because it is assumed that they’ll be eccentrics – harmless oddballs. Isn’t that how most people felt about Shahbaz until he started talking about “coming here to die” and killing himself on screen?

The interesting thing about Graham Norton’s statement is that he’s come off the fence – normally Graham would make caustic comments about the housemates, but I don’t think he’s ever openly criticized the show’s producers before.

In light of the growing backlash against Big Brother and the endless series of mental health professionals clamouring for airtime over this, I think Graham’s is the most sensible commentary I heard so far.

One of the first things we found out about Richard Newman when he entered the Big Brother house was that he had a phobia of pregnant women.

After being up for eviction 4 times now, Richard is starting to imagine what it will be like to leave the Big Brother house, and the scariest part won’t be the booing crowd or the flashing cameras, but a heavily pregnant Davina.

While discussing his fears with Michael today, Michael stated

“Davina’s pregnant, about to explode, maybe water will come out on the show…”

Richard looked at Michael in horror and told his fellow housemate that if that happens he will just turn and run away from her when he gets out.

I can’t wait to see that interview!

I can’t imagine anyone being surprised to see Jayne nominated this week. After her massive amounts of rule breaking and subsequent punishments, I imagine that her housemates can’t wait to see the back of her!

Richard however was not such a predictable choice. Maybe people have finally gotten sick of him constantly brown-nosing Suzie, or maybe the argument he caused over the rights of rats was the final straw, who knows.

I would guess that it will be Jayne who leaves this week, and to date the eviction results have been very very predictable. However maybe it’s time for a wild card, maybe just maybe the bookies won’t get it right.

Big Brother housemate Richard Newman, is finding sleeping in the Big Brother house a bit of a challenge.

He spoke to fellow housemate Suzie today and asked,

“Do you talk in your sleep?” he asked Susie. “I’m sure you were last night.”

“Mmm,” she nodded,

He continued:

“Last night I heard someone going urgggh, It’s terrible in there, he continued. “Lisa makes this uguguugu slurping noise. And Glyn talks, he has whole conversations with himself. One time he was going ‘I’m a soul man. Don’t pay attention. I’m a soul man’. It was really weird.”

“I was s******* my pants. There was something really demonic about last night. With you talking and Lisa gurgling and Aisleyne making this whimpering noise and Glyn talking…I was getting really freaked out! It was so scary,” he said.

Poor baby! Maybe Big Brother should give him a night light, or some earplugs!

Big Brother housemate Nikki Grahame is beginning to lose the plot with fellow housemate Richard Newman, as he munhes his way through all the fruit in the house.

The housemates failed their task for this week, and so as a consequence have only £1 each per day to spend on food. So as Nikki watched Richard chomp on yet another banana this morning, she began to see red!

“I swear that’s his third banana today,” she exclaimed. “Third banana!” she repeated to Lisa. “He had one on this cereal, one as soon as the larder was opened…

“And now he’s having an apple,” she concluded. “There’s no fruit left for anyone,” she fumed.

Lisa was in full agreement about Richard’s fruit greed, fuming: “Why can’t he just fill up on toast like the rest of us?”

Looks like another fight is just about to errupt!
