The Apprentice 2012 Final Results: Who won? Ricky Martin, Tom Gearing, Nick Holzherr or Jade Nash?

After twelve intensive weeks in competition alongside some of Britain’s top entrepreneurs, 26-year-old recruitment manager Ricky Martin has beaten fifteen other candidates to land the prestigious prize of a business partnership with Lord Sugar, along with an investment of up to £250,000.

In last night’s episode, Ricky battled it out in a four-way final against 23-year-old wine investor Tom Gearing, 29-year-old business development manager Jade Nash and 25-year-old technology entrepreneur Nick Holzherr. With Jade and Nick fired first, Ricky went up against Tom in the last two.

Ricky was declared Lord Sugar’s business partner at the end of a twelve-week process, which saw Ricky divulge the business plan in which he was hoping to secure Lord Sugar’s investment – a recruitment agency specialising in science and technology.

The Apprentice 2012: Ricky Martin branded an “arrogant fool” in tonight’s final!

As fans of The Apprentice will know, it’s the show’s big final tonight, but for one candidate, Ricky Martin, things don’t get off to a good start when Lord Sugar’s adviser Claude Littner lays into him, labeling his personal statement. “crass, obnoxious and infantile.”

Claude adds, “Some of the statements you’ve made are completely ludicrous…

“The problem is that you’re an arrogant fool.”

He adds, “Probably the most crass, obnoxious and infantile personal statement that I’ve had the… not really a pleasure, I’ve had the opportunity of reading.”

However, Ricky isn’t the only one to feel the heat tonight as his fellow finalists Jade Nash, Nick Holzherr and Tom Gearing are all put through the wringer by Claude, though arguably, Ricky’s in the deepest hot water when he has to apologise for likening himself to the demi-god Thor.

He’s also in the dog house for calling Lord Sugar an “old dog” who he promises to teach “new tricks”. Read more & comment »

The Apprentice semi final: Adam Corbally turns to jelly, Tom Gearing & Ricky Martin fail to wow, Jade Nash makes drunken treats!

With one week to go, it’s the last chance for the candidates to earn themselves a place in the final. The candidates are summoned to meet Lord Sugar at Burlington Arcade, tucked away in London’s West End and home to the finest in luxury retail.

There, Lord Sugar greets them and explains their final task:

“This is a famous arcade; I suppose you would say the original shopping centre. We are in recessionary times at the moment but there’s still a great market for luxury products, the key is they have to be affordable luxury products. Your task this week is to create an affordable luxury product range and then you’ll be presenting to industry experts, and here’s the bad news, and me, what your business model is all about.”

James McCullagh Apprentice 2012 blog – Ricky Martin to go all the way?

Witness the fitness, the reflection of perfection and a part time wrestler (and a famous singer) Ricky Martin is starting to look like a front runner in this year’s apprentice.

He project managed the losing team (that should have won) on last night’s fitness task- smashed his pitch and laid the smackdown in the boardroom.

For me Ricky has shown a variety of skills but I’m most impressed with his ability to talk. He talks the talk with his snappy sound-bites and his ability to fight his corner in the boardroom.

James McCullagh Apprentice 2012 blog – Adam Corbally & Jade Nash can never win – Nick Holzherr or Ricky Martin might just do it!

We are now four episodes into the 2012 episode of The Apprentice and so far, here is who I think is in with a shot of getting Sugar’s cash and who’s not:

Adam Corbally: So far he has shown he’s willing to get stuck in, he’s tried his hand at selling and being at the production side of things. He’s also shrewd in the Boardroom which is one of the most important factors of The Apprentice. I really like Adam- he’s funny and very likeable. But I haven’t seen enough to make me believe he can go all the way. He’ll come close but no cigar.
Verdict: NOT

The Apprentice 2012: Ricky Martin describes upcycling task “we’re selling crap and turning it into style.”

On tonight’s Apprentice:

Enjoying a morning off, the candidates are interrupted by a phone call summoning them to The Old Cinema in Chiswick, which leaves them guessing what their next task will be. Their questions are soon answered however, when the candidates arrive at the vintage furniture store and Lord Sugar briefs them on their latest task: “There’s a famous saying that ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure’. There’s been the rag and bone man, the car boot sales, the charity shops and all of these people make money by taking things that people discard and they make it into something that someone wants to buy. That’s what this task is all about, you’re going to have to source your second hand stock and then you’re going to sell it to the public.”

Young Apprentice star James McCullagh gives his take on Apprentice 2012 candidates

James McCullagh has more reason than most to watch The Apprentice, because he knows exactly how it feels to face Lord Alan Sugar in that boardroom.

The 17 year old schoolboy from Northern Ireland finished as runner up – behind Zara Brownless – in the 2011 series of ‘Young Apprentice’ and during the time on the show invented his own video game “Crazy Cabinet” and produced his own Mediterranean brand of popcorn called “La Popcorn.”

Now he’s casting his eagle eye of the latest batch of candidates to put themselves up for Sugar’s scrutiny and below, he tells Unreality TV who he’s watching out for when the series starts on March 21st.
