I’m A Celebrity reject, Robert Kilroy-Silk has blasted ITV for editing him badly during his time on the show. Robert believes that the footage was edited to make him look like a bully and cut out some important moments with him comforting and consoling his fellow campmates.

He told The Sun: “I don’t like the result of the vote and I feel very sad that I was first out. Everybody in the camp thought Brian would be the first to go. I don’t know what I did but clearly the public like me least and I have to accept that.

“Perhaps it has to do with what’s selected for use on screen. I have no control over that. I have no control over the editing of the show.”

Kilroy added: “I’ve not done anything on television for the past four or five years. If, after a live interview, they’ve seen you and said they don’t like you, then fair enough.

“But when you’re edited for a show like this, your portrayal is in someone else’s hands. I trusted it to be fair — and I assumed that it was.

“I have to move on now. Will you see me on television again? I don’t know. It’s not a problem if I’m not.”

He said: “You haven’t seen me consoling the girls when they came to me and said they wanted to leave and I told them not to. You haven’t seen Esther come to me and say, ‘We’ve got a problem in the camp. Can you sort it?’

“Dani came up to me and said, ‘Timmy is really annoying us — particularly when he howls and wakes us up. Can you please have a word?’

“That wasn’t shown.”

Robert Kilroy-Silk was the first celebrity to be voted out of the I’m A Celebrity Camp by the public.  Everybody was miserable as they hadn’t predicted that Robert would leave.  However, David saw the bright side by claiming Robert’s bed, to the annoyance of the other celebrities. 

David said: “He really didn’t want to be the first and so when he went out I think he was a bit shocked and he was actually broken up a bit.  You could see in his face he was very emotional.”

Brian said: “All of us were shocked I think, that it was between us two as to who was going to leave.”

Dani added: “He’s been a real tour de force for a lot of us.  He’s been really strong mentally and physically and he’s been quite a father figure to quite a few of us in the Camp so I will really miss him.”

Martina said: “Robert did tell me ‘I’m going to be the first’, I said no way.  He said, ‘they don’t like me’ No way you’ve been incredible here and he was unfortunately right.  All of us are going to miss Robert.  He was the best in the Trials and he’s gone.”

George said: “I was surprised to see him go.  Robert not being with us is going to be a big hole.”

However to the annoyance of his Camp Mates, David was overjoyed that he could have Robert’s bed and jumped around the Camp singing: “I’ve got a bed.”
He said: “Robert said I could have his bed but a couple of people weren’t very pleased that I should be comfortable.  Don’t know why.”

And Nicola said to Carly: “I think it was… should have been somebody else in my opinion but who am I.” 

And Brian said: “By the way he behaved afterwards just now immediately afterwards… did you see?”

Nicola continued: “As soon as Robert left, David in his pedantic way, said ‘oh I’ve got a new bed now’.  I don’t even think Robert had got over the bridge and jumps in his bed. He’s just rude, rude, rude.”

Robert Kilroy-Silk has been the first star to be booted out of the I’m A Celebrity jungle camp.

Robert seemed popular in camp especially after doing so well in his bushtucker trials, but obviously the public didn’t feel the same and he is now out of the show after only twelve days.

Speaking after leaving the camp he said: "I pleaded with the the viewers for another night, just one more night, but they wouldn’t give it to me."

No doubt Silk will be hanging about in Australia for another few weeks, I mean it’s not as if he has constituents to get back to or anything. Oh wait a minute….isn’t he an MEP? Nice job if you can get it!

Robert Kilroy-Silk decided to broach Martina Navratilova about her attraction to women.

‘Are you like me? Do you look at girls and fancy them?; He said.

Martina replied ‘Yeah, it depends if I’m in a relationship or not which I usually am, so I try to shut it out but if I see a beautiful woman I’m wow, she’s gorgeous’.

Robert continued. ‘The other thing is if it’s Simon (for example) – say he’s attracted to one of the girls, he can make a move, but how can you develop a relationship without causing offence?’

‘It sort of develops slowly but you figure it out pretty quickly.’ The sportswoman answered.

Robert then asked if there were still prejudices, ‘I think I was pretty absorbed in it because of who I am’ Martina replied, ‘But friends of mine have encountered it but its more sniggering or talking behind somebody’s back. The odd comment. ‘

‘Some girlfriends were in the closet so you had to pretend to parents what’s going on with the family.’ She continued, ‘You have to heterosexualise your apartment. You move into two bedrooms, move the photos, hide the sweetest photos. Whenever people do come out of the closet, they feel so liberated. They’re like why didn’t I do this sooner. My message to all the gays is please come out. Come out, suffer the consequences but the upside is so much greater that any downside.’

After winding up the I’m A celebrity jungle camp with his laughter during Robert Kilroy-Silk’s live task, Timmy realised he had to apologise.

Robert replied:  “Oh stop it now.  I’m not a vindictive or vengeful person but Tim, I think you know me I won’t take any crap.  I’m trying to fit in here and be not my normal self.  I’m trying not to be aggressive, arrogant.  I’m trying to work with people but don’t do it any more.

“That’s fine.  I accept that [the apology].  You don’t have to say any more.  But leave it there and no more.”

Timmy said. “I think you’re a hero.  I think you’re a trouper.  A big hero.  I think what you achieved today was sensational Robert.”

Robert replied: “I don’t mind you laughing but you were distracting me.  It’s not me that saw it like that.  Other people saw it too.”

Robert summed up in the Bush Telegraph:  “I’m not going to be moved around or irritated or undermined or whatever.  I don’t need anybody behaving towards me like he is.”

As he arrived at his second bushtucker trial, Ant and Dec talked Robert through his second Bushtucker Trial. Encased in a Perspex ‘John T-revolting’ suit – fixed in the familiar pose (one hand pointed into the air), he was informed that this was an endurance test.

Asked by Ant and Dec if he understood the trial, he laughed ‘I can see very clear but I can’t see where I fit in.’

The suit was split in into six compartments, two legs, two arms, the torso, the head and added to each were jungle creatures. Each compartment was worth either one or two stars and to win all ten Robert would have to endure the ‘John T-revolting’ suit for ten minutes.

Asked by the hosts if he wanted to do the challenge, he said ‘I don’t want to do it, I’ve got to do it.’

Strapped into the suit, the first compartment to be filed was Robert’s right leg and he was joined by rats. Enduring these for one minute, he won one star. Grimacing as a rat bit his foot he joked, ‘so I can go now I’ve got my meal.’

The compartment that contained his left leg was then filled with eels, still distracted by the rats Robert painfully revealed, ‘one of these rats is trying to pull off my big toe nail.’

He successfully collected his second star and the next was his torso. Filled with 10 snakes and had to withstand two minutes to win two stars.

Whilst struggling to cope with the rats, Robert, determined to get as many stars as he could for camp, remained within the suit and won a further two stars and had now won four stars and four meals for his fellow celebrities.

In the next compartment which held his left arm, he was joined by green ants and they soon started nipped at his neck. As the two minutes ticked away a snake made it way up and joined the green ants.

When told this by Ant and Dec, Robert replied ‘I’m not thinking about it’. He earned a further two stars and spiders were the next jungles creatures to fill the penultimate compartment which contained his right arm.

Completing the two minutes with the spiders for another two stars, Robert decided attempt the final compartment. If successful he would win the full ten stars. Cockroaches were poured onto his head, as he concentrated on winning the stars the critters crawled over his face. To make matters worse a snake made its way into this compartment slithering decidedly close to his head. Unperturbed, Ant and Dec counted down and informed Robert he had successfully completed the task and won the full ten stars and ten meals for camp.

I’m A Celebrity’s Home Camp enjoyed a bit of a bitching session on last night’s show as they talked about their rival camp and the impressions that they’ve made. George Takei said: “Robert seems like a real villain.”

Joe Swash defended the former TV presenter saying said: “I think we’re painting him in a bad picture. I think he’s a wind up merchant. I think when he comes on people should form their own opinions. That’s the thing with Kilroy. You don’t know whether he’s joking or whether he’s serious. I think he’s going to be an awkward fella, an awkward character.” And on the rest of the rival Camp, Joe commented: “I bet they’re just as interested in us as we are in them.”

Brian Paddick said: “If he’s just playing up, the public don’t like that. They want people to be themselves. I didn’t get a good impression of him at the Versace and then when I went in he had a go at me. He said you’re just here to gloat. He said get out the camp. The only reason he apologized is because the others said no, no, no.”

Dani added: “The fact he mentioned it again today. I think he did think Brian went to gloat at him. If it was a joke he would just have said, he would have apologized. He’s probably the strongest character.”

And Brian said: “I also think Nicola is [a strong character]. She’s as hard as nails. She’s a real tough cookie.”

Joe Swash was not amused when he arrived to take part in his third trial. When greeted by Ant and Dec he said: “I didn’t think I would be back this soon not after yesterday that’s a bit mean.”

Joined by Robert, they were told the rules. Both had to enter aseparate chamber and compete head to head to win food for their camp. They each had to climb to the bottom of their chamber where they were chained in leg irons, a waist belt and hand cuffs.

With six padlocks each, they had to find the six keys which were attached to stars at the bottom of the chamber, each key would unlock a padlock. The first celebrity to unlock all six padlocks and pull the lever at the top of the chamber would win a luxury meal for their camp, the losers would have to survive on rations.

Robert and Joe climbed into their chambers and as soon as the lid closed shut the chambers filled with water. As they both found the keys and unlocked the first three padlocks Ant and Dec informed that they that they were both neck and neck. As the water quickly filled the chambers Joe struggled with the fourth lock whilst Robert, rising to the top to get air, reached the sixth lock. Convinced that he had opened the final padlock Robert climbed to the top and pulled the lever but as he tried to climb out he was still attached to one of the handcuffs. “I’ve won,” he exclaimed.

But Dec informed him that he had not unlocked the final padlock and he would have to go back and retrieve the key. Finding what he believed was the correct key Robert was unable to open the padlock and said to the hosts that he had a ‘dodgy lock’. In the meantime Joe completed the trial. Robert, sure that the key in his hand was the correct one for the lock on his arm was left red-faced when it was proved he was trying to open it with the wrong key. One of the discarded keys at the bottom of the tank opened the padlock and freed the politician, the key is in hand had been used to open one of the other locks.

Still convinced he should have won he bantered with his opponent that he was cheated and Joe joked that “he should take it like a man”.

MEP Glenis Willmott has branded fellow MEP Robert Kilroy-Silk "an absolute disgrace" for taking part in this years I’m A Celebrity series.

Kilroy-Silk is currently an Independent MEP for the East Midlands in the European Parliament.

"I think it shows a complete lack of respect for voters," Labour MEP Glenis Willmott told The Mirror. "We are in serious times and people expect their politicians to do a job of work.

"You can’t do that if you are in the jungle, covered in cockroaches, eating kangaroos’ testicles, and swimming with crocodiles. I think it is an absolute disgrace."

Conservative MEP Roger Helmer was less critical of Kilroy saying: "It won’t make that much difference because he does so little work anyway.

"Frankly if he was working his socks off I wouldn’t have a problem with it. But he has given up on the job."

The difficulties of camp life in the I’m A Celebrity Away Camp led to tensions mounting between politician Robert Kilroy-Silk and glamour model Carly Zucker.

After dinner, Robert washed up the pots but was disturbed by Carly watching over him. ‘I came down here (to wash up) to save you lot the trouble and you come down here to supervise!’ he exclaimed.

Carly replied, ‘I came down to see if we were doing it right and be happy we’re doing it right – know what I mean.’

‘No I don’t’ snapped back Robert. ‘You’re a control freak. There are lots of signs and you like it’ he said.

Later Carly asked Robert if he was one too. ‘Yes but I’m not as bad as you. You’re going to be a nightmare’ he joked.

‘It’s not causing any harm to you is it’, she asked. ‘You would be the first to know’, he replied. ‘If I wanted to offend you, I’d tell you straight up’ he added.

Robert later told Carly and Simon to stop talking as their fellow celebrities tried to sleep. He joked that if they needed to talk they should do so in the loo to prevent themselves from waking up the other celebrities.

Simon later explained, ‘Carly’s a bit defensive at the minute because every time Robert says something he’s really sarcastic and I think she’s taken it to heart.

Later in the Bush Telegraph Robert said ‘There’s going to be problems with the women. Esther clearly – and I’m not going to say anything critical about them and I’m interested to see how it develops – Esther likes being in control as perhaps we all do. I think the other two are quite feisty and they’re quite opinionated and Carly in particular. I’ve just said to her, she’s a control freak.’

Robert and Simon went to get some wood and Carly wanted to come. However, as Camp rules state there must be three people in the Camp, she had to stay behind. She said later ‘I did think that Robert being a gentleman would have stepped down and said you go first.’

But Robert said ‘I wasn’t being naughty. But I though I’m not going to give into you again. Sometimes you have to be straightforward and say no. She’s more forward, pushy and intrusive and perhaps wanting to take over.’

The Away Camp discussed Carly. Roberts said he might be a control freak but he was ‘third division compared to her.’ And Nicola said ‘I do think she’s bossy but not in a bad way.’ However Esther had some kind words for her. She told Carly ‘It’s a very tricky situation this. You’re meeting us for the first time, we’re God knows where, where everything is new and different and you’re one of the problem solvers in the team actually. You came up with some really good plans.’
