It’s finally here, Simon Cowell’s star studded charity single got its first airplay at 8am this morning.

Featuring Jon Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Shane FIlan, Mark Feehily, Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Michael Buble, Joe McElderry, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams, the proceeds from the sale of the song will be split 50/50 between the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) and The Sun newspaper’s Helping Haiti appeal.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has pledged to waive VAT on the song.

Cowell, who organised the recording for Haiti, said: “We have a short time to do this but already we are getting some fantastic support.

“Right now this is an absolute priority for us all, the people of Haiti need as much help as we can give them as soon as possible, every day the situation becomes more desperate.”

Williams said: “I’m very honoured to be asked to contribute to the single. We can all do something to help the people of Haiti – and I urge everyone to do what they can.”

Cole added: “It’s heartbreaking to see what is happening in Haiti. Hopefully the money from Everybody Hurts will help the people of Haiti rebuild their lives.”

And Boyle said: “The Haiti earthquake has caused devastation and suffering that most of us will never experience nor could imagine. I feel privileged to be a part of such a wonderful project that will raise money to help the country.”

Simon Cowell’s charity single in aid of the victims of the Haiti earthquake, will be played across various radio stations at 8am tomorrow morning.

The new version of REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ single will go on sale next Sunday and the final line-up of artists has today been revealed.

Singing on the track will be Jon Bon Jovi, James Morrison, Alexandra Burke, Susan Boyle, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Shane FIlan, Mark Feehily, Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika, Michael Buble, Joe McElderry, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.

Simon Cowell has managed to convince Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, JLS and Michael Buble to take part in recording his new Haiti charity single.

The artists will record a cover of the REM song Everybody Hurts.

The Sun claim that Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That and Sir Paul McCartney have also been approached.

Rod Stewart has been revealed as the musical guest for this Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing, which comes live from Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the home of ballroom dancing. Rod will be performing the hit ‘Same Old Song’ – and will be joined by his wife, and former Strictly contestant, Penny Lancaster, making it a real family affair!

Penny will be teaming up with Strictly professional dancer, Matthew Cutler, to perform a Cha Cha Cha during Rod’s performance. This will be the first time that Penny has returned to the show since competing in series five in 2007. Penny didn’t get to perform the Cha Cha Cha when she was on the show so it’s a dance she has waited a long time to do.

Rod and Penny will be flying up to Blackpool in their own private jet, while the rest of the Strictly crew will be travelling up by coach. Strictly professional dancer, Ian Waite, partnered Penny when she was on Strictly so he may try to cadge a lift for him and Jade!

What on EARTH was Dionne doing in the bottom two? I can understand The Unconventionals being there – Louis should be hanging his head in shame at his mentoring of this group – but Dionne was absolutely brilliant last night. She had style, she had panache, she looked absolutely fantastic, and she owned that song.. but she had to go to the Song Off to stay in. Simon blamed it on her lack of personality, as her vocals were amazing – but I can’t really see that. She shone on the stage.

I hope the MacDonald Brothers are heaving very large sighs of relief. Pretty much every review I’ve seen of them had them firmly in the bottom two. Perhaps the teenagegirly syndrome is already kicking in, and they (and Ray) have managed to stay here. They’re going to need to raise their game much higher if they want to carry on performing in the X Factor.

Next week should be really interesting: the theme is Rod Stewart (so I’m assuming that he’ll be the guest star) and that will suit Ben’s vocals down to the ground. We’ve already seen him perform Maggie May at Bootcamp, so I have high hopes of him. Perhaps Louis will do a better job of song selection, as he’s getting first choice of the songlist, followed by Sharon and then Simon – I just hope he stops messing it up for his acts. And Sharon love.. try and pick better songs too, you did an abysmal job last night, the only one you got spot on was Dionne’s.. and look how the public repaid you.

61-year-old Rod will also help judge the contestant’s performances when the show goes live next month.

He told the Daily Star that despite years of live performances, he sometimes gets stage fright.

“I’m going to do X Factor in a couple of months. Those kids have got some guts. I’m used to big crowds, but even when I do TV shows I’m on edge.”

A show spokesperson added: “There will be some guest judges. But as for Rod, it’s speculation.”

Rumour has it that Rod let the cat out the bag, because TV bosses were trying to keep their celebrity judges under wraps until the last minute.

An insider said: “They were furious with Rod. It was to be a surprise, but now he’s blown it.”

Other guest stars linked to the ITV programme include Westlife, Beyonce and Julio Iglesias.
